My gm did as well but she always fried in butter. Added egg, onion, and crushed crackers plus S&P. We didn't know about carbs then. This weekend, I am going to try them with pork rind panko . I haven't had since my husband passed away 5 years ago. Now I am craving them.

Watching this video takes me back to my childhood when Mother would make these salmon patties. I liked (and still do) to take one of her homemade biscuits, split it open, put a salmon pattie in it and add some ketchup and put the biscuit top on, making it a salmon sandwich. Soooo good! ❤😊
@@diannesullins6629 yes Dianne, Homemade biscuit and salmon patties..nothing better..When Aunt Elsie would eat with me and daddy, we would do grits, salmon patties and homemade biscuits with cane syrup…such wonderful memories. 🌹
What would you do if an egg turned out to be BAD , and it was already cracked into the bowl of ingredients? I always crack my eggs in a separate little bowl,& then put them into the other ingredients. WHY? Because I have cracked open a bad egg from the carton , even though they have been candled ( checked) . Just mentioning this , as I see so many cooks just crack the eggs right into the ingredients bowl. Salmon patties are one of my favorites.👍🏼😊
@@hummingbird275 You caught me…😂..We used to have chickens and that was one of my rules..and still is..I just sometimes get in a hurry and skip that step, especially when they are store bought eggs…never with fresh eggs though…the egg always had to be broken into a separate bowl. That is the way I teach my grands and great grands…we love salmon also..Grew up on them🌹
I was taught to crack an egg in separate bowl to make sure it was ok by my grandma at an very early age when I helped her cook on the family farm and from our own flock chickens 🥚🐓 🥚🐓 plus I love salmon croquets still at my age 64.
Love the Airfryer Friday idea! I've had an airfryer for months and never used it yet. Also, never used flour in my salmon patties and they look delicious! Think I will try that soon. Thank you!
It's the same for Type 2 diabetics. A diabetic's best friend is their glucose meter. Coconut flour sucks up a lot of moisture so I'm going to try an extra egg with some xanthum gum to help them bind. All carbs are not created equal and for me wheat flour or rice flour will cause a spike. I always test before and after meals so I can see what occurs with any new recipe. There are some great charts that break down foods showing Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load for each. That said..I love salmon patties. My mom made these weekly and these have me excited. Your are a treasure.
@@Kat-gx3se I am so glad you understand glycemic load and index..That is what we go by…My doctor told me about it 3 years ago.. I was having major stomach issues..when we changed our eating lifestyle, my issues were resolved…🌹

I have a dear friend who is native Alaskan, Tlingit. He once said to me "no white person should be allowed to touch a salmon" one day when we were discussing ways to cook it. He at the time was smoking some on cedar planks. As a native he is allowed to catch unlimited amounts when the salmon run. He said it with a smile but I think he was serious.
