A visit to the Willie Clancy Summer School for foreign students of Irish music.
At the Willie Clancy Summer School in Miltown Malbay, County Clare students learn to play the uilleann pipes, which proves to be no easy feat. Some of the participants in the summer school talk about their experiences of the event.
Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy, which began in 1973, is a week-long summer school in traditional music and set dance held each year in Miltown Malbay. The summer school commemorates Miltown Malbay’s best-known uilleann piper, Willie Clancy (1918-1973).
The school provides music and dance classes, workshops, lectures and recitals.

If I had my life to live all over again, I would have taken holidays away from the hard works of making money, I would use this money and go each year to the Willie Clancy Sumer School, I would learn how to play several musical instruments including a wild electric guitar, I would learn many traditional tunes, I listen to stunningly great music and stories, I would enjoy myself and make many friends, I would have a great time and I would pass on my newly learned talents to others, I have told you my wishes now I will go a tell them to the man above and ask when my present life comes to an end in over 90 years time, to please listen to my request.
