I’m uploading this somewhat reluctantly, as this is a very personal project. Some of you might have seen it elsewhere. I thought I’d still upload it and see. After all, any creative journey is about risks. And if you're not creating work about things that matter to you, then, what’s the point, right? What are your thoughts?
mitchellkphotos This is so inspiring Mitchell. Your voice is so distinct. Your film looks beautiful. Big big fan! Big fan! Can't wait for more from you. Also, please visit India!
This was beautiful! You are braver than most doing what you set out to do despite the everyday sacrifices that you have to make. Keep doing just that. You are the master of your story! I'm a very big fan of your work. Safe travels my friend and best regards from Athens, Greece.
An inspiring story and great cinematography. Your journey is so true, whenever i get a notification of your video i immediately pounce on it. Want to see more of it and be a part of your journey through your camera. Loads of respect,. From India
Amazing! im from Chile, Antofagasta! Amazing to see my hometown in this way, now travelling, in Dubai, and heading to India, 5 years already on the journey, photographer and learning a lot with you. Specially with the nuances of Composing in layers, and where the eyes are looking! thanks a lot! beautiful movie! wait for more!
I seen it before, but I watched again. The story pulls me in, i can almost feel your feelings, but Im on the other side. My son turns five now in Januari, but im not away, im in the hamsterweel, working, picking up in daycare, in the dark and cold Scandinavia, i have a huge urge to get away, having another kind of life, much like yours. But i know, i could never live away from my son like you, it must really hurt sometimes. There is always a struggle to find the balance, one is never completely happy. Mind and thouhts drift, sometimes too far. This was fantastic work, thanks.
Thanks so much. It's definitely SOOO hard to find just the perfect balance. Probably not entirely possible for me. I'm kinda envious of people who are just happy. I try my best, but without some adventure, I feel dead. Without family, it's like life is not worth living. I guess a bit of each... We have to find our own middle ground, I suppose.
You're a good father missing his daughter, his 6 year old princess, and you do know she miss and need you as well. (Only a man who can no see his daughter can understand that). You're a dreamer, an adventurer, and without those feelings in your heart, you wouldn't be able to see the world as you do and take the outstanding photos you shot.
Thank you for sharing! Many of us working in a stable 9 to 5 job often romanticise the idea of being a full time travel photographer ("always on holiday ) they don't think of these aspects
Mitchell, i told you almost a year ago please take care of your little one and spend the most valuable with her - your time and care. Glad to see you reconsider the single travel life style. I wish you and your family all the best and always enjoy your inspiring and professional work.
Terrific film! My girls (now 42 and 48) live at opposite corners of the country and grew up seeing me once a month. Those thoughts of choices past and ongoing never go away.
I often think on how to project feelings/emotions from a still image to a moving one. It's so hard to retain everthing, but you manage it like a boss. P.s. More.
This was incredible... I missed many years with my daughters and I’ll never do it again... we get consumed by the work, the art, our passions and we sacrifice the true gifts in our life... Beautiful film, I will be sharing this with friends and loved ones...
Thank you. You are right. The priority are those true gifts, but we still gotta make a living. Anyway, I'm on a high wave at the moment. :) Family is with me. Happy times. Thanks very much for your comment.
Omg. Such an emotional video I have same situation with my daughter. Thanks for sharing such a deep toughs. Congratulations for the quality and the extraordinary story.
This is one of the most personal travel videos I have ever seen. As a Soldier, I can differently relay too many of these aspects. An amazing video that put things in perspective .
Wow. I have been inspired by your personal and candid approach in your videos. This essay stunned me in such a pulling way. Very few publicly express their heart and secret turmoil as you have.
Thanks a lot Mitchell, it's classic video. Especial thanks to your family that suffered a lot to get this video done. Best luck to your lovely daughter.
Very personal indeed, human is one of the most sociable animal. The need of a tribe is anchored in our bodies, not a place but a group to which we belong. We need interactions, even in the most beautiful places, to not let our soul go to the darkest places :) Cheer up :) life is made to be happy and there's beauty to be captured in everything ❤
Hi Mitchell! Your short film is absolutely gorgeous, your film making and story telling is just as superb as your photographic skill. I hope you continue making more films. Thanks . Junior
Us, driven by passion obviously all go through those hell questions down on our knees but always find the strength to go-ahead, not because we are strong but just because our beloved encouraged us through their love. my last 20 years running international 10 to 11 months a year couldn't happen without their blessing.
Very emotional video with a great story telling indeed. The calm atmosphere definitley supports the feelings you describe... It's sure hard sometimes hard to live the life you live as it is not only the happy traveling everyone seems to see and expect. Thank you for sharing this very personal experience and your journey in the good and bad moments. It makes me think about the different possibilities of life and gives me a new perspective.
Excellent narration and beautifully crafted video. Although I do not have children and I am not currently in a relationship, I can relate to your story regarding the feeling of loneliness, sometimes, at the end of the day, as well as the endless questions about the the meaning of life.
Hello Mitchel, I’m surprised how well you’ve captured your emotion through the narrative, beautiful words... I can relate so much to so many things! I’ve been on the road since 2005, as a kid I moved from Ukraine to the Middle East and I’ve been away from home for far too long. Last time I visited my birth place, Kiev about 6 years ago. I’ve lost MY home yet I’ve acquired many others. Feeling like at home anywhere, yet I don’t feel like I belong. Always a foreigner, even in my own city, in the neighborhood where I took my first steps into the future. Speaking Arabic, Korean and Farsi was a norm at some point, then realizing I forgot my own language, I could barely speak even Russian at some point, until I married my beautiful wife. Now I’m concerned about having children and where to settle, or maybe just keep on going... being as introverted as I am I could never sell my photos, and the search for a method, for some solution, a guide on how to capture better has led me to your page. Thanks for your videos mate! Know that there are many of us now, thinking and living a life similar to yours, in pursuit for more and further, in search for self. I hope I’ll manage to earn my living doing travel photography, as you did. Peace!
Cinematography quality of Bladerunner 2 / In the mood for love. Using this cinematography to tell ancient stories / legends of any given place you visit, will result into the attention of a much, much broader audience.
I find it difficult to be away for just a few weeks, so I can only imagine what it's like when it's months at a time. I also ache to go adventuring when I'm home autopiloting the daily grind. Despite the thrill and freedom of the chase, I find deep reflection is inevitable during the long drives to my photographic destinations. The car and the solitude can be a prison cell even though I'm surrounded by infinite open expanse. TBH, getting the shot isn't always rewarding-- nothing like the warmth and love of my woman. And living out of a car and a can of fish, well that's really no way to live. I know I am conflicted because of ambition. I love your work Mitchell, it's among the best and I know it comes with a cost. Excellent film.
That was so beautiful I couldn't help but sob pure tears of joy at the end when you were holding your daughter aloft in your arms. I actually saved this video a while back, waiting for the right moment to watch it as I knew it would be special, something powerful and ultimately perfect for now. I didn't actually realise (as I'm sure when you posted this) that your yearning and adoration for your family would reflect all that we are experiencing through distancing, but not necessarily hundreds of miles away but close by. Just out of reach. Thanks man. This was special.
Amazing Story here, cant believe only 210 likes. However maybe it was meant to touch us 210 that appreciate the hard work it takes to tell a story like this, thanks for sharing!!!
OK, I think after watching this film in January 2024, I am starting to put together the timeline how you and your family ended up living in Peru for 3 years. You are a brave man to come forward with such personal feelings, but this is exactly the reason why so many of us can connect to these internal battles you describe. And as always, the visual content is amazing. The drone shots perfectly show how small we are in the vast nature, the time lapse clips add another dimension to the movie. It seems like a full studio crew was working on this short film. Probably the best one I've seen from you, and not at least, this is a message in a bottle for your loved ones. I am glad you are with your family now!
I love your channel. What a good surprise it was to know that you were in Chile. The desert is amazing. Patagonia too. We hope to see you here again. We expect a good documentary from the South of Chile. Greetings from Santiago!
It was fantastic! The narration work really well, many times my thoughts started travelling with the view and few times i had to stop your video and I was thinking what i heard. I can't wait another (longer) video like that.
Curiosity is king. For me I have always been curious, what has made me a better photographer is my current level of fitness. While still heavy set I am far more active these days. Walking miles and miles exploring a foreign city is far more enjoyable now. I will continue to push myself to achieve a higher level of fitness and look forward to making more images. Thank you for your content!
Scanning the internet looking for an Aussie photographer who 'gets' the pull and beauty of remote to learn from. Stunning video work with captivating raw storytelling - made me smile and resonated. My 5 week trip to Europe turned into 5 years (so far) traveling Australia on an unexpected journey and project. Oh yes, that craving and need for familiarity catch up, the mind goes into places you don't want it to go at times - yet the journey and creativity compel you to continue - you somehow find a compromise, a balance. I wish you find the balance. I'm guessing you have....now I will watch and learn from more of your work here.... Tones of Russell in the voice with more rawness. Loved it!!!
You're absolutely right about how it should be a personal thing, otherwise, what's the point? This is great, I'm uploading a personal five minute short myself later today. Keep it up !!!
Your videos have always stood out Mitchell, as being more insightful, more 'real', than any other photography vlog out there... but... wow... you've really taken it to the next level!! "if you're not creating work about things that matter to you, then, what's the point'. So very, very well said. Excellent work my friend!
chills. something about this hit hard. thanks for making something personal and not just trying to gain views with clickbaity bullshit. this has substance.
Deeply emotional. Finally a travel video with a story. My daughter turned five months a week ago, and I have been facing similar choices as you, so I can strongly relate.
That was a powerful and very emotional video. It showed the true nuts and bots of what your life is like on the road as a travel photographer. Anyone who thinks they can do what you do should watch this video and they might reconsider. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful insight into something so personal, it was brilliant 😁👍
Sounds like a spiritual journey and I’m glad your taking us along for the ride, very well done and those vistas and landscapes are remarkable, excellent work Mitchell !
I really love all your work, and this one is special I watched it maybe more than 10 times, I hope you the best, your channel should have at least a million subs. your friend from Libya.
Fantastic work Mitchell. I've been following your work for years and this is unquestionably one of the best things you've ever made. Superbly shot and deeply personal and intimate. It's a whole area of travel filmmaking unfortunately largely missing from UA-cam these days. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks a lot for your time. Yeh, for some reason I've been suggested basically the same versions of different topics - "I did this for a month and here are the results!" 🙄
I experienced similar situations and the inner need to go to lonely areas. My son is 23 now and after all I should have gone more into his viewpoint. They are so small and have no chance but to accept their fathers as they are..
I loved it! This is just what I needed for a deep introspective on my self and my goals in life. I think, the film fits to many people, not just photographers, that decided not to have a "REAL JOB" but to transform our skills and passion into a JOB. Regards and best wishes for everybody on these roads! Cheers Mitchell !!!
Love your work Mitchell. This piece really spoke to me as I am away a lot filming like you and I leave behind my young daughter as well. It's a struggle. Thanks for posting this!
Beautiful story and wonderful cinematography. Once you have kids, decisions are harder to make. I am keeping photography as a hobby for now until my 10 year old daughter is out of the house. Still got some time to practice those skills.
Haha. I don't like the idea of getting my one out of the house. I hope she might still want to hang out and travel... But I might be totally wrong and she'll think that I'm really uncool. 😳😂
mitchellkphotos The past summer I gave her my old DSLR with a 50mm 1.8. We now go out shooting together. Don’t worry you will be the coolest dad for a couple of years especially when they are around 10 years old.
A beautifully crafted, elegantly told, important and intelligent message. This just became one of my favourite videos of this ilk, and I can't wait to see what you do next. I wish I could collaborate with you somehow... maybe one day fate will allow it :D
I so cried while watching this. And I call myself a man... I'm on the other side: feel trapped with 3 kids which I love so much that I can't live without, but sometimes I feel the urge to run away, to be alone and create. Life is so complex that is not easy to find balance. Your daughter will thank you for this video when she will be old enough to understand your struggles!
Hey, yeh. I understand your side too! It's not easy either way. I know many people who feel trapped too, but at the end of the day - what really matters more than your loved ones and time with them? Well, it's subjective. But whatever it is. I think we just have to go for that.
Pursuing dream cost something but gives ultimate satisfaction so you can manage other things as well.♥️😊 #Inspiring♥️all the best♥️i wish you happiness ♥️😊
I have two girls...I was ready to begin a GoHomeFund Me...so, very happy she had her arms around you at the end. Beautiful work but, never more than 30 days anymore or we'll work with your wife and start a Go Get Me Fund :) Thank you for your dedication and the sharing of your gifts!
Wow! Superb filmmaking on all levels Mitchell - you've outdone yourself with this project. It is pitch-perfect on all levels - the cinematography, editing, sound design and music all work in perfect harmony to convey something very personal and intimate - not an easy thing to do but you've done it so very well. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
Thanks SO much. Glad you liked it. It took a bit longer than expected to finish, but I think I'll look on this much more fondly in a few years, than on the educational videos.
As everyone already wrote it in their own words, beautiful video, involving story, nice cinematic sand music selection to complete some nice landscapes. This is personal to you and it is embedded in your video. If your family is OK with your choice and support you then you can try to balance your life as well as you can. Just keep an eye on the road, be it the one to your next travel destination or the one to your family ^^. Cheers
Mitchell, your photography is superb but your questions are unanswered. After the phenomenal landscapes and conditions you have seen on this incredible planet, are you not drawn to why the love of your family is the most important reason to be there for them. This is not a criticism but an observation, I too crave the exploration, the isolation you have explored but have chosen to sacrifice that for my family. My choice, but I only do that because I don’t believe that my current life is all there is. The need for a purpose beyond our short lifespan drives me to search deeper than the remote areas of our home. I know I will get slagged off for my, what would be considered, spiritual comments, but I am so much like yourself, (if this is a true reflection of your personality,) that it would be a pleasure to meet up. Gary
Hey Gary. Well... I want it all. Haha. Family AND travel. :) Nothing more magical than sharing these journeys with them. I think the sacrifice is different these days. Yes, I sacrifice adventure, some photo opportunities, but we CAN actually travel around the same places together, which is the idea at the moment. My biggest fear is having to be part of a "normal" world. By high school at the latest, I want my daughter to have a "normal" experience and do the high-school thing, if she's up for it. What in the world I'll do then... I don't want to think about yet. I know that I'm useless in the regular world now. I can't even function in it. So... that's the REALLY big dilemma that I'll have to face. At the end of the day, I think the things that matter are the experiences, not the photos nor the videos. And very importantly for me, it's the experiences I'll share with my daughter. I don't know what's beyond this world and nothing has convinced me in all these years. I think that's not important anyway, for this world, again, in my opinion. In all the years of traveling I think that the wisest, healthiest and most productive thing that we can do is - find a balance. It might not be a balance every day, but, an eventual balance. For example - now I'm with my daughter and wife every single day, pretty much every moment of the day and that's great, but... would I have appreciated it as much without this trip? Thanks very much for your thoughtful comment.
mitchellkphotos Thanks for your reply Mitchell. You must have tons of messages. The fact you can share this with your family was so evident in the latter part of your video. You look too have a beautiful relationship with your family. So great you can involve the in this they are rich experiences. I think this planet is incredible and if I had the youthful energy I would love to explore Mongolia I have friends who have gone out in missionary work there and they love the people and the culture as well as those wide open spaces. Oh I had done that 40 years ago. I won’t preach at you but just leave you with this one thought, Everything I see in nature, the universe, the miracle of birth, the beauty in the creation points me to design and purpose and makes me seek to find what is behind it. I hope you find what you are seeking and get great happiness from it. Regards from the old sage Gary.😁
Feel like I've seen most of from your other videos but I love it. Makes me want to sit down and have a conversation with you about your future. Not sure why.
I used some footage in my video diaries. Mostly it's not exactly the same, but yeh... similar. But, some shots are only here. And... that's funny about the conversation. I have no idea what the future holds. But, for most part, I like that. 🙂
@@mitchellkphotos nothing wrong with that. Was an enjoyable video. I love watching your videos as it inspires me to want to learn. Plan on getting your course too.
I'm planning on starting a fairly large trip down to the latin America soon. I'm planning to start doing some videos for youtube also. Been a hs teacher for so long, needed a break. Your videos are inspiring.
Well, it can be lonely out there in the wilderness. Just looking at some of your scenery makes me lonely. I love to visit desolate/wild places but I wouldn't want to live in those places. I like to be able to come and go, when needed. I also wouldn't want to live in a large city. I like being close enough to get anything I need but far enough away to have some peace too.
@@mitchellkphotos Anyway, good luck to you, sir. And don't get too down on yourself. There are a lot of people that enjoy seeing your work and want more and more videos, but I understand your personal life is most important and I hope that works out for the best for you and your family.
Guy this film is prefect! It shares emotions, real emotions. It makes me dream and cry at the same time. And seriously... How did you record this voice over?? It's so beautifully crisp and clear! I hope you'll share some advices soon ^^ You inspired me with this one ❤️
Mitchell I lived that life. Pursuing my dreams. But by pursuing my dreams it cost me dearly. I lost my family wife and my daughter and Son. But after 30 years I got my daughter back in my life. My son still won't forgive me. But that's the choice I made. We just have to live with the choices we make. Take care my friend and thank you for sharing. It touched me.
That's intense. Thanks for sharing that. I'm thankfully in a good place, but... it's like you're giving me a preview of what CAN also happen. Again, thank you for sharing your experience.
@@jdcoverland365 Damn! That's some food for thought... And yes - those questions... "Is this all there is." I think regardless of how good we have it, by early to late 30s we start to wonder. I have some ideas, but, the path is not an easy one either way.
@@jdcoverland365 @Dave I feel where you are coming from. I'm 56 and my passion photography it's also my escape from this world. Good luck to you dave. Maybe one day all 3 of can get together.
Musings and life questions, so personal but than again also not. Isn't this what many parents think about, maybe not in this distanced way, but just being swallowed by work and the ratrace in the west.

Thanks so much for those words. I'm so happy that I'm locked down with them now. Totally keeping me sane. 🙂
Hey! Thank you so much!!! :) You see, it's good to mix the Vlogs/films, otherwise, you'd maybe never see this. :)
Spasibo. Dumayu k godam 35 my dolzhny osoznat skolko vremeni uxodit v nikuda i pomenshe vremeni teryat. Probuyu kak to tak delat.
I love your channel. What a good surprise it was to know that you were in Chile. The desert is amazing. Patagonia too. We hope to see you here again. We expect a good documentary from the South of Chile. Greetings from Santiago!
Very moving. Thanks for sharing with us
Amazing man! Just loving your channel and learning so much!
Excellent film! Very well crafted.
Thank you.
It was fantastic! The narration work really well, many times my thoughts started travelling with the view and few times i had to stop your video and I was thinking what i heard. I can't wait another (longer) video like that.
It's incredible that you've got only 60k subscribers. Best quality!
Haha. Thank you. :)
Taking serious decisions in my life right now, I needed something so exactly like this! Thank you.
Really strange and nice to get messages like yours. When you make something you can only hope that it will mean something to someone else.
An amazing 15 minutes!
Thanks!
Loved it!!!
Thanks very much for your words. 😊
As full time Traveler and a photographer I understand. I offer my condolences... Something will be lost at the cost of a choice... Best..
You're absolutely right about how it should be a personal thing, otherwise, what's the point?
This is great, I'm uploading a personal five minute short myself later today.
Keep it up !!!
I love that film. The content so as the monologue. Very well done. Congratulations.
Thanks a lot. :)
Your videos have always stood out Mitchell, as being more insightful, more 'real', than any other photography vlog out there... but... wow... you've really taken it to the next level!! "if you're not creating work about things that matter to you, then, what's the point'. So very, very well said. Excellent work my friend!
Thanks very much. Definitely doesn't have the "mass appeal" but, it does seem to really resonate with those who are into things that are a bit deeper.
chills. something about this hit hard. thanks for making something personal and not just trying to gain views with clickbaity bullshit. this has substance.
Thank you so much for those kind words.
Marvelous, amazing~~, not only your photos, but also the video…I like them so much:-) @):- 👍🌺
Really good stuff Mitchell, UA-cam travel & photography channels can be very samey. This anything but. Thanks for encouraging us to take risks
Wow, this is very nice video.
it's just like scenes from a psychological movie
wow, nice of you taking risks. It won't please everybody but you are a good story teller. Very enjoyable personal short film
Thanks. Yeh. I mean, it's not like a real life risk anyway. 🙂
Beautiful film, inspired after watching it.
Awesome!
Pursuing dream cost something but gives ultimate satisfaction so you can manage other things as well.♥️😊 #Inspiring♥️all the best♥️i wish you happiness ♥️😊
You are right. 🙂 Managing at the moment. Haha. Let's see for how long.
Beautiful video! Love it
Heart touching ❤️❤️❤️
I have two girls...I was ready to begin a GoHomeFund Me...so, very happy she had her arms around you at the end. Beautiful work but, never more than 30 days anymore or we'll work with your wife and start a Go Get Me Fund :) Thank you for your dedication and the sharing of your gifts!
Well, hard to find words. Thank you. Just go ahead.
Cheers
Superb
@@Remixthisgaming Xmas sale next week.
hugely underrated youtuber holy shit the production value
I'm planning on starting a fairly large trip down to the latin America soon. I'm planning to start doing some videos for youtube also. Been a hs teacher for so long, needed a break. Your videos are inspiring.
This short film is so underrated
Thank you. 🙂
this shortfilm is sooo underrated
Nice Watch ;)
this is EPIC.
Yeh, same for me. In an ideal situation. 🙂
@@mitchellkphotos Anyway, good luck to you, sir. And don't get too down on yourself. There are a lot of people that enjoy seeing your work and want more and more videos, but I understand your personal life is most important and I hope that works out for the best for you and your family.
💕💕💕
Do you have plans on coming back to the Philippines? Love your channel man!
Belated happy birthday to your daughter.
Guy this film is prefect! It shares emotions, real emotions. It makes me dream and cry at the same time.
And seriously... How did you record this voice over?? It's so beautifully crisp and clear! I hope you'll share some advices soon ^^
You inspired me with this one ❤️
@@mitchellkphotos your welcome, I hope it doesn't. You are an amazing photographer. Love your work.
@@jdcoverland365 @Dave I feel where you are coming from. I'm 56 and my passion photography it's also my escape from this world. Good luck to you dave. Maybe one day all 3 of can get together.

By the way, I discovered you this morning. I am now on the 6th video...
Haha. Awesome. Thanks.
Very cinematographic! haha 👍 but no more photography videos?
Next week...
@@mitchellkphotos nice! haha :D
Good luck Mitchel
Musings and life questions, so personal but than again also not. Isn't this what many parents think about, maybe not in this distanced way, but just being swallowed by work and the ratrace in the west.
Thanks for your comment. Sorry for the late reply. Yes. I think there are some questions which are global, no matter what we do - we still face them.
