I've yet to find a reaction channel other than Semblance of Sanity that realizes how that slowmo fight scene is less meant to be cool or funny, but rather a showcase of Powder's potential violence related PTSD
What made them do a tv show was years and years and years of fans demading it. Riot have been doing a LOT of short movies and songs for a decade. Everyone who watched instantly became in love and start dreaming of a movie, a tv show, a something longer than 10 minutes. So after 6 years of production, we got this masterpiece. People that played league not only loved what they saw, but also had the oportunity to see like their mom and dad who didn't even knew the game starting to enjoy something they already loved. This show it's really something. I hope you like it.
It isn't exactly 6 years, it was 3 years or 4 years and then they stopped production due to having to do other projects as well and then continue back to it and finishing it finally
The mix of 3D figures with 2d textures and effects and matte painted backgrounds are just a very very cool combo. Also: the facial animation is *so* spot on. Incredibly accurate at conveying emotions.
One of the best parts of the 1st episode is when the kids just returned to their hideout and Vander just walked in and started to ask them questions. They did not need to do that, but they made Vander's hand "walk" a few steps on the couch and thats so much extra work, but looks so much more realistic.
33:25 Great catch! And knowing that you guys already watch episode 3, can say that was one detail i love how they explained in episode 3, with Silco and make the rewatch so rewarding
I think it might just have to do with getting used to the animation style. At least that would be my guess, since it is quite a different style so it can take awhile for some people to get used to it and can be jarring at first.
He may appreciate it more in later episodes when it is used again. Since there is actual meaning to the animation being "rough" as he described it and it's not done just to be flashy.
Regarding inspirations: the writers and designers didn't created the setting from scratch of course. They did admit that they took their model from many pop-culture properties. But I doubt if it's Borderland or BioShock. For instance Christian Linke, one of the showrunners, said that he wants the underground city (Zaun, "the lanes") look much like Metropolis. Although the northern side of the Pilt (more a strait than a river), Piltover, should implement steampunk, it's look was heavily inspired from Paris, just bc the animators are sitting there and could take a look out of their windows. And indeed, the council building reminds me of Montmartre. And the story does have much of classic shakespearean and greek tragedies.
I just seen Arcane last week and loved it 10/10. The story telling, voice acting, animation is phenomenal. Every episode gets better. Excited for you guys
You guys will really appreciate act 3 more if you watch the Arcane music video before then. Dives deeper into some of the relationships on the show. I'd recommend watching it after episode 4.
as someone that's played league through high school, arcane was just good since the lore is always hinted at with voice lines in the game but i can imagine this show being pretty crazy for a watcher who doesn't know anything about league's lore, so this should be cool to watch y'all react to, definitely tuning into the reactions for this series
@@potatoesandniku ...i know, i was sharing my experience as someone that played the game lol im saying if you dont play league that it's a better first watch
omg im so excited you guys are finally doing this! This is lowkey one of the best shows I have seen in a long time and easily the best video game adaptaion of any game!
Instantly one of the better Arcane reactions. You take your time for everything, feature longer scenes in more depths with added thoughts on all you see and find interesting and you include the music. Intro ain't, but the rest is made by riot, so you can have it play away. Keep up the good work with yet another great reaction series to yet another great show!^^
I highly recommend watching the League of Legends cinematics after you guys watch this show. Also very high quality and gives more insight into the LoL world, lore and characters. Arcane is kind of a thing of its own cause its detached from the game in some ways, but could be thought as canon since it takes and adds a lot of story and character development to the game lore.
League of Legends came out before Overwatch and a lot of characters in Overwatch seem to be inspired by LOL characters, so it's cool that you caught on to how some have such similar looks.
you guys are further ahead by now so you know it’s vi and not vibe right? 😂 btw the girls ARE blood sisters and that was their mom we saw in the beginning. their dad was under her too if you look. your eye is drawn to her but he was there.
Hisashi buriiiii~~~~ i haven't see u guys in ages.. too poor to reload my internet data. i miss u three my favourite reactors Literally just watch Arcane last week. Only stay for the unique animation style to be honest. But Imma watching ur reaction all the way
Riot Games is still run by the two guys who created the company and helped build the lore, and they are privately help so they have no public stock to worry about if they make a mistake. I think that is why they are not very averse to taking big risks to have their nerdy things come to life. Probably why they were willing to bet almost $100 million on this series. They also seem willing to delay or cancel projects they are working on if they aren't high enough quality, no matter how much was spent on them. If I ran a company that allowed me to explore my (or other's) creativity and didn't have to justify the cost, I would 100% make insane moonshot bets too.
Their fans really wanted it. RIOT started making "cinematics" in partnership with Fortiche (the company that animated Arcane). The cinematics were basically marketing animation combined with good original music that were put out in order to hype the players up and into buy the "new" skins (appearance) or to introduce new heroes into the game (There are over 100 playable heroes in the game). These short marketing cinematics were so good that the player base began asking for more... a movie, series, or something. It has been joked that the League of Legends game was made just to raise money and a fan base in order to eventually introduce "Arcane" the show.

ayyy sos bros mentioned!!
Watch darqui. He analyses everything. The cocoa couch is wholesome. Two of my favorites.
15:27 Will immediately recognize a supportive father figure and thinks "He's gonna die"

You boys are in for the ride of your lives, this is easily one of my favourite stories ever and they did it in 9 episodes. Masterpiece.
I knew you guys were gonna do this show eventually, seemed inevitable lol. You’re in for a hell of a ride
Straight fax
3:47 Sam and Will vibing together while Adam is in the middle like 😐
Off to a great start.
People either love Imagine Dragons or they hate them with a passion.
I really like that the fight between the street kids are "realistic". Like, they aren't martial arts experts, just kids pummeling each other.
This show is a work of Art.
Absolutely fantastic.
I have zero fear of "over hyping it".
You guys are absolutely going to love this.

The animation in this show is some of the best 3D animation I’ve seen outside of Spiderverse
Also the beginning song that powder is singing in the bridge scene perfectly summarizes the relationship between the top siders and the underground
Adam seems to be coming onto it slowly but I bet he'll be the one that will love the show the most by the finale

omg HOW did homeboy complain about the opening scene? It was amazingly beautiful bro wth
He complained about the singing, which he finds creepy. Which it is. Literally nothing wrong with that.
@@aaronyayger no, later on during the discussion he complained about the animation too.

@@aaronyayger well its meant to be. Thats their to set the undertone of the world and series/character progression
it only gets better, trust. also riot wont copyright you for the music except for the intro song enemy. the music is so good

Episode 1 was made 6 years ago as a pilot. It took 2 more years to get everything approved, then 4 more years to complete the 9 episode, first season.
I just seen Arcane last week and loved it 10/10. The story telling, voice acting, animation is phenomenal. Every episode gets better. Excited for you guys
I actually loved the opening scene, the best shot of the episode in my opinion.
"Love her voice."
Screaming Firehawks everywhere agree.
Queen Avasarala
I am glad that I can see your reaction to one of the best cartoon ever

great reaction! Your editing as always is on point
you are the first reactors mentioning Dishonored because that was also the vibe i first got from the show! Glad someone else agrees with me now
Ah, yes, Vibe, the DC superhero, love him in this show!
I highly recommend watching the League of Legends cinematics after you guys watch this show. Also very high quality and gives more insight into the LoL world, lore and characters.

why is the editing so fucking good in this reaction video wth
Yesssss! Omg, yes! I can't wait to go on this journey with you guys! I have wondered what your guys' opinions of certain scenes would be like.

I’m so excited to see you guys finish this series
I love the editing style! Keep it up!
Nah, the bad guy said "you were supposed to keep an eye on the kids and not make contact." He wasn't particularly after the loot.
Can't wait for you guys to see ep 4
When I saw Milo, my first thought was Meth head Vegita. Lol
I think you guys are going to enjoy this show a lot.
you guys are further ahead by now so you know it’s vi and not vibe right? 😂

OMG FINALLY YES

Most of the main characters (dead ones not included) are in the game.
Also, the voice acting from Powder’s VA, in episode 3, is chilling.
SAM! LOVING THE HAIR!
How far ahead are you in this show on your Patreon?
I've been waiting and the ⚒ NG title deliver
Episode three was the first time a show actually dropped my jaw
Yes, YES!!!
Yes the community begged for a series. Leauge of Legends always made amazing cinematics on UA-cam. We wanted and we love this series.
YES!
i wonder what made riot games do a tv show... yeah me too. but im really happy they did.

The pink haired girl is name Vi, by the way XD as in, short for Violet
FUCK THE GAME! ITS DEPRESSING AF! Loved the series tho :)
I´m one of the few people in the world that can say, I don´t like it, only the story is "decent", nothing else. I don´t know why I just don´t.
Unacceptable!
Pretty good show but also kinda forgettable once you're done.
