It's not a movie, but there's an anime series called Detroit metal city. It's about a guy who moves to Tokyo to form his own pop group but the only band he can get work with is a black/death metal band (Detroit metal city).
I mean the whole movie Deathgasm is solid gold, but the scene where the main villain makes the minions chop off the agent's head two times is easily one of my favorite comedic moments out of any movie!
u guys missed that icelandic movie, Málmhaus (Metalhead) heavy metal/black metal movie and some others good movies like those too: -Empire Records -The Stoned Age -Almost Famous -Detroit Rock City (Movie) -Trick or Treat (from 1986) -Hesher
How could you forget "Shock Em' Dead" a teen makes a deal with the Devil to become the greatest rock star in the world but the catch is he has to feed on the soul of others. You can't get more metal than that. Guitar stunt doubled by Michael Angelo Batio from Nitro.
Heavy Metal (1981) had only one song The Mob Rules by Black Sabbath there is a couple of Heavy Metal horror movies such as Rocktober Blood (1984) and Trick or Treat (1986) with Fastway
Black Roses ... that one really gets me laughing , check it out when you're heavily intoxicated some evening. Oh and Bad News ! sorry to comment 3 months later when this comment has lost it's relevance:) cheers guys!
Going into my usual Metal movie search. I always wondered if I should watch Metalocalypse. I was left with the impression there is no continuity, let alone a plot. I'll check it out. Here are my suggestions: "Imaginarium" - The Nightwish movie. Going through the mind of a dying musician. Very dramatic and surreal movie, not exactly about metal, but there is some connections. "Pop-Rocks" - Old but a funny movie about a dude who tries to hide he used to be in a famous hair band, but the past comes back to haunt him. "Soul Music" - Old animation based on Terry Pratchett's book. I'd suggest the book, but the animation is funny too. Plus you get to see Death on a bike. "Detroit Rock City" - It's a classic. A bunch of fucks who wanna see a Kiss concert but are left without tickets. "Almost famous" - A teen is given the chance to write for Rolling Stone about a band he goes on tour with them and whatnot. It was an okay film, I guess. "The Rocker" - His band kicks him out and years after the drummer can't really get over it. He ends up getting in his Nephew's band, as they on a quest to be famous. "What we do is secret" - it's about a punk band. Based on real story "Get him to the greek" - More of a pothead movie than a metal movie, tbh, " A record company intern is hired to accompany out-of-control British rock star Aldous Snow to a concert at L.A.'s Greek Theater." that's from IMDB "Beck: The mountain chop squad." It's an anime, kinda slow paced. More or less about bunch of guys want to make a great band "Nana" - The anime and manga are 10 times better than the movies! It's about two girls that meet on the train. One is going to Tokio to her boyfriend, the other, only with a guitar and pack of cigarettes, to make a band. In very very short. It's a great story. Cut off in an ugly moment though, as the writer got really sick. "Rock of ages" - The movie with Tom Cruise. It's a musical. It wasn't my thing, but not bad either. "I am in the band" - That's from Disney. It was fun for the most part, but it bearly has continuity, which I don't like. And I think they stopped it at some point. "Velvet Goldmine." - " In 1984, British journalist Arthur Stuart investigates the career of 1970s glam superstar Brian Slade" - IMDB again. The movie is weird and slow, but kinda cool. "Pirate Radio" - Just check the trailer. I don't know where to start explaining this. It's more rock than metal, but it's cool. The rest is in the video. I have a few more, but they are pretty much shit. hah I Haven't seen some of the suggested in the video, so I'll give them a go. thanks. yeah... long comment. We need a new metal movie or series.
Ah, school of rock...I remember when I first saw that as a 10 year old. The teacher that showed me the film is currently behind bars for child sex abuse...
Rock of Ages (I think that's the name): A movie where a small town girl who lived in a lonely world took the midnight train to Los Angeles for work. She starts in a rock cafe, that I believe is owned by Russell Brand, realize it's not cut out for her and goes to stripping. Meanwhile a small town boy, likely born and raised in south Detroit, took the same train and tried to become a rock star. Imagnaerium: Pretty much the movie that the album itself was based around....or maybe it's the other way around since the album was released the year prior. It is basically about an old man with Dementia that reverts to his childhood remembering nothing from when he was an adult. They also use many, if not, all the songs from Nightwish's album of the same name as parts of the soundtrack. The child-like imaginations are the main visual aspects with the plot mostly being about trying to recover those lost memories with the help of his daughter.
DEATHGASM!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘I have quite literally seen that more than fifteen times and still love. It is actually a tribute to Peter Jackson- maker of Hobbit related films- whose early films we're Uber gory. Check em out! Braindead and Bad Taste are two classic
Some movie recommendations for you guys: Metal A Headbanger's Journey, Global Metal, Metal Evolution, Anvil (The Story of Anvil) and Detroit Rock City (Film) :D
I would recommand u to check out heavy trip, a finnish film and its really good. And dont know if documentaries are allowed, but a headbangers journey is awzome too. P.s. thx for the list of movies ;)
All Dynamite picks Dan's! Deathgasm was an astounding surprise when I stumbled upon it. Rock Star is fun too, me Mrs introduced me to that one. A couple to add - Decline Of Western Civilization part 2. And one that is lesser know but had me rolling on the floor the many times I watched it drunk is FUBAR 2 - Balls To The Wall! Holy shit, that one is a "nutter". Oh yeah, and for more serious stuff Until The Light Takes Us is pretty brutal. And the Pentagram documentary will leave you scratching you're head at the end.
I Believe the German UA-cam Show "Heavy Metal Maniacs" also Made a movie wich can now be found on UA-cam... Maybe there are subtitles for that Show... I really enjoyed it. And What other movie Features Whore Robots created by the pope to stop a Metalband, huh?
I can't watch School of Rock without thinking about Tim Tam cheesecake(I'm Australian) because when I watched it in high school I spent the entire class craving Tim Tam chessecake
Rock star is about JUDAS PRIEST WHEN HALFORD CAME OUT OF THE CLOSET! that’s what the movies about and it actually has real rock stars in it like Jason bonham and murry from maiden ! But yeah it’s about Judas Priest and when they found a kid in a Judas Priest tribute band ! And he sang in the real band cause they said the world wasn’t ready for Rob to be gay so they kicked him out of the band !
Somebody help. Theres a movie i remember seeing when i was young of these young kids, kinda metal heads. They have their own alter ego type hero they have created and they turn into their own characters? They get like thrown into the comic world or some shit. Some one save my sanity.
One you didn't have is Heavy Trip. It's a Finnish film about a ... Fennoscandic extreme vomit inducing black metal band? Something to that effect? I'd describe it as a black metal Spinal Tap with a subdued Finnish sense of humour.
Just horror and action movies except the newer action movies, I liked the slow realistic weapon demonstration with their gory results, newer movies are just about kung fu now a days.
DEATHGASM must be watched religiously
that movie is shit
665 Demon Dog that’s what makes the film great
Movies about metal I've watched:
Deathgasm
Metalhead
Lords of Chaos
Trick or Treat
Heavy Trip
A Blaze In The Northern Sky You are the only person I have seen mention Heavy Trip and it is an amazing film.
Heavy Trip is my ultimate favorite. It’s actually hilarious.
Heavy Trip, Deathgasm and Trick or Treat are awesome. I didn't like Metalhead and Lords of Chaos tho...
@@MewhentheAAAA I mean Lords of Chaos movie sucked even more as the book

There is a lot of those, actually. just some of them suck. The best one on the topic is Nana in my opinion.
edgy username I think there’s an anime on Netflix about a character who copes with life by doing death metal karaoke
I mean the whole movie Deathgasm is solid gold, but the scene where the main villain makes the minions chop off the agent's head two times is easily one of my favorite comedic moments out of any movie!

Deathgasm is the definitive heavy metal horror comedy.
How could you forget "Shock Em' Dead" a teen makes a deal with the Devil to become the greatest rock star in the world but the catch is he has to feed on the soul of others. You can't get more metal than that. Guitar stunt doubled by Michael Angelo Batio from Nitro.
What about Málmaus
Cian Nolan Depressing, but still an awesome film
Pretty good movie!
Crappy European movie I gues it's the most metal of them but european movies are generally just shit
Airheads is one of my favorites. Brilliant film
its the only time I've found Brendan Frazier acceptable as an actor haha
Too bad they don't credit Reagan Youth for the song they try to play on the air.
Defiantly watch "The Devil's Candy", it's an amazing film with a lot of metal in it.
Matt Dalton second this
Heavy Metal (1981) had only one song The Mob Rules by Black Sabbath there is a couple of Heavy Metal horror movies such as Rocktober Blood (1984) and Trick or Treat (1986) with Fastway

Ah, school of rock...I remember when I first saw that as a 10 year old. The teacher that showed me the film is currently behind bars for child sex abuse...
George Cummins Well, still a great teacher. That movie was my favorite when I was 10, and its the reason I play guitar
