If you want to see a close to realistic film of what would actually happen when a nuclear warhead explodes above a city in the UK, check out the film 'Threads'. This was made at the height of the Cold War in the 80s and it's so graphic that the UK government tried to ban it.Warming though - it is incredibly graphic and realistic. I think it should be compulsory viewing for all adults and children over 5. The film will terrify you and it should.
I live between London and where they assemble nuclear weapons in the UK, if it kicks off I won't even have half a second to register "that's bright", it's not worth worrying about. Since Hirohsima and Nagasaki, weapons have just gotten more and more powerful and it looks as though structures like Mount Weather (built to withstand a direct hit), at this stage are unlikely to offer enough protection to guarantee long-term survival. Realistically, it's not going to be 1x Nuke, it will be many from at least two sides, if not more. Pretty much a game over scenario for almost the entire world. If we go to WWIII the most "sensible" thing would be biological weapons, a chance to wipe out the enemy before they're aware they're at war and that still presents a huge risk of whatever is used crossing borders. You want to know something terrifying? Look up "Lost Nuclear Weapons" - the US has lost 3 so far, without much of a clue as to where they are and that's just the US.
Some youtube creator has got a part to to watch of john britain,a second world war themed documentary comparing the yanks,i can't remember who though jay..
It's a daunting prospect. I've made a small shelter as best as I can but it's no Fort Knox. Knowing my luck it'd happen when I'm out anyway lol 🤯
