A hugely underrated comedy sketch show, for those skits which were of this standard. And almost everything involving Denzil was in the top drawer. Try to find those pieces involving Scottish Nationalist poet and playwright McGlashen. Not everything done by the team was at this level, but that how sketch shows tend to be.
For those who are not Welsh, this is a send up, if an obviously grotesque one of people from Llanelli, in west Wales, a sort of Welsh equivallent of Harry Enfield's the "Slobs". I recall playing squash as a 14 year old for a Swansea club against a club from Llanelli. It seemed like going back in time. Their accents were so different from ours as was their club. John Sparks of course is a Swansea man although this skit is set in Swansea, he mimics a Llanelli accent, and refers to "Swansea " not to cause offence. A Swansea accent is generally much more primitive and ugly sounding.
John Sparkes waving the Welsh comedy flag amongst his Scottish peers Jack, Moray, Gordon and Peter. Morewenna Banks is English, I believe, and is David Baddiel’s partner. Very funny show throughout.
Glasgow. My brother and i were in stitches back in the day when she stuck a block of cheese in a cup of boiled water and served him it like it was tea. He crudely spat it on her face. She explained it's "cheese water".
@@JamesSheenOnline Delved a few months back. Turns out the episode was aired May'89. Annoys me i can't find it on YT. Channel 4 copyright Fascism or something.
Aye, there are some Absolutely videos that are restricted on YT here in the U.K. Yet, when I visit Canada... I can watch those restricted sketches over there no problem.
That was a party political broadcast for the Welsh National Party, now on BBC1 it's time for the Top of the Pops and Doctor Who crossover special, this week Jimmy Savile and Gary Glitter will attempt to screw a Dalek...
Mick Griffin Yes, l know you are. You all are. I’ve been to Wales. The only inaccuracy is when he refers to Gwyneth as ‘the stupidest woman in Swansea’, when she’s no more than average.
You all should meet Dai F**k from Aberystwyth. His real name was not F**k you understand... no.. he got the name because he includes a minimum of one 'f**k' in every sentence.
John Sparkes is a huge talent. Great pity we don't see more of him on tv.
He's been too busy voicing Peppa Pig for years.

And to think Denzil and Gwynedd are now doing voice-overs for Peppa Pig.
"I cant go out dressed like that, I'll look like someone from Llanelli"
Loved this. "I have just been seen by Dr. Will Seeyounow.." lol
More of these please !!!!!!!
pure magic comedy, talented
I once had a go at making Gwyneth's, Cheese Water. You put a little Caerphilly in a mug and pour on boiling water. It tasted of boiling water.

Morwenna Banks is from Cornwall, this completing the Celtic connections. All are brilliant writers and performers and have gone on to other projects.
Surprised they could bring themselves to try and be funny about this sort of thing. The Welsh hate having the piss ripped out of them.
Absolutely! Lol
@@briane5706 By MOR, TRE, and PEN, shall, ye know the Cornishmen
Wonderful. Yeah, why didn't these two have their own series?
It are marvellous, isn't it?
Awesome stuff, love it.
I am in love wiv yer bruther Denzil used to cry laughing at this show
Loved meeting them tonight at Oran Mor. Show on Radio 4, 6th September.
+Gary Chittick The radio show was brilliant. Did they say anything about why Jack Docherty was not involved in it?
Just genius!😄👍

Love the welsh subtitles lol
i believe gwenyth was sucked up "by the woover, & there are a spyder in 'air, and it are tryyying to kiiss me". (imagine that, but in a welsh accent).
Denzil's response was "rather him then me! "
that’s my favourite scene
Very well done, it was just like him lol

Yes it's a nourishing and soothing cheese drink, nothing could be simpler... or more disgusting

All right Matt, yow have asked for it. It are time for some Ywelsh unarmed hitting. Yow! Ach! Aye!
You'll be wanting Dr Will See You Now if you're not careful.
LOL. Enough of all this Abergavenny. I'm off to the Club Sponken for a sensible pint of cheesewater!
Nothing are going on here. (Ach y fi) Now, down the road with you in your Gwymmn Tidy van.
Why weren't they given a sitcom of their own???
Barry Welsh
Wonderful wonderful, how could I forget your birthday I don't know it ha ha ha {not "Mr Ha Ha Ha" just me having a laugh}
Ahead if their time, league of gentlemen took ball and ran with it? Grotesque characters....
sooo funny
Looks like Andy Murray
Typical Welsh people. A very accurate portrayal.
James Blade I’m Welsh and I’m exactly like Denzil 😂

Welsh Down Below Cake
I have never been to wales so those two are my only example of welch culture.
This is all you need to know about Welsh people. Some of them aren’t as smart as this.
And is Absolutely your only example of 'Scotch' culture?
Och aye.
@@jamesblade6684 but they're miles smarter than yow.
Anyone have the recipe for Gwynedd's Down Below cake? The one I've tried was moist and fruity, and I'd like to compare the aroma of the two.. too.
Fanny Cradock once made it on the BBC. I tried to replicate it but sadly it didn’t end up tasting like Fanny’s.
best thing on abso.
Pure Python 👍
Ponty Python
Montgomery Python
Better than a lot of Python sketches
i once got stuck in a hoover with a big hairy spider..... didn't try to kiss me tho....
Like a Welsh Susan Boyle.
