I met a women in rehab that said Dave Matthews was "dad" music. Yeah, I guess if you don't believe in love and transcendence from this planet, that's exactly what you would say
2024. Back again. My goal in life is to find a woman who looks at me like Dave looks at Tim!....lmao.....Musical magic this show is. Simply incredible.
1:03:00 the extra 0.08sec they hold this always hits me. They both, so modestly and entirely selflessly, give us so much. I write in my own story here and say that they, just for a split second, acknowledge the significance of this 30 year joint venture. Cheers to 30 more years!
This album man.......it's gold. Dave was on one with the vocals. The quality of the recording and the levels with those acoustics makes everything shine.
I’m listening right now! I don’t know how many times I have watched this or how many more, but it is timeless and incredible and this is my go to when I’m drinking alone!
When your intro can stun a 30 year old man, make him shed the first tear he has shed in 3 years and make him feel like he's listening to this for the first time in university again, you've done something right

This rendition of „Bartender“ is one of the all time greatest performances that ever took place on a stage. How two people with guitars can deliver like this is amazing. I‘m not religious at all, not one bit. But this is miraculous.
I too find myself playing this entire show over and over, it's so addicting. And yet I continue to find/hear new and subtle things throughout which of course makes it like the first time. Weird. This is definitely a masterful performance, now wonderfully aged over 16 years.
I saw Dave & Tim in the late 90s at their first tour together ❤️ unbelievable intensity & talent from Tim, just out of this world unique and jaw dropping skilled talent -- never seen talent like that live since. Of course I love Dave 😅
I've really never heard something so well played, well sung, well synchronized between two musicians, so emotionally sung. Absolutely amazing. Blown away. Thank you DM and TR!!!
Tim Reynolds is the reason I thought of guitar as my kung fu for a long time. ...On my good, comfortable, in the moment days. Tim can do more with one note than many can do with an entire song or album. True bliss and exploration and economy of motion. ❤ That 2 minute long, one note solo on lie in our graves... it moved me to tears the first time I heard it... and a bunch of times after that too.
As a lifelong acoustic guitar player and devout concert-goer, I return to this masterpiece of a performance month after month and year after year. It remains perfection on every level, it never ages. For me, and without intending any hyperbole, this is the greatest acoustic rock performance of all time.
47 yr acoustic player here...I couldn't agree more! Tim Reynolds is a master, the fretboard but a canvas in his Rembrandt-esque hands. Matthews an equally gifted songsmith and musical craftsman. Together, they are beyond compare. (In my oh-so-humble opinion at least!)
Tim's solo sounded like betrayal. Every note felt like betrayal. A dance btw illusions and reality. Anyone who doesn't believe in magic here it is. Namaste
I want to give a big shout out to the sound engineer for the amazing quality of the sound for this concert. Almost July 2024 and the more I listen this timeless concert more and more appreciate DM lyrics skills and Tim’s sweet tone and guitar skills as well.
I worked on this show and those guys were fun even though dave is not feeling that great. Shows that he is one the best showmen around. Radio City really is a special place that makes it all the more exciting. Timeless.
Wow, Dave was really not feeling well? I was thinking “man, he and his voice must have been in a blessed day to deliver such quality” before reading your comment. Can you give us some more details about it?
@adalbertoferreira7309 I'm really, REALLY late to this party, but the clearest example is at 15:54 at the "carriage car" lyric. Plus, Dave is taking sips of tea between songs (that's his mystery drink) to help soothe his throat. Source: My mother attended this concert, and she's basically a DMB superfan, so I trust her on it.
I concur and have worn out a few copies of this CD and I am sure the Blue-Ray copy I have is well handled too, I think this is on the top five albums based on complete album plays I have done.
I drank a lot of alcohol listening to this music, and gave me a fond appreciation for my bartender. Larry was his name. Thx Larry and Dave. Wait, was his name Larry...
Damn. Listening to him talk about that soldier right before playing Gravedigger now in 2022 is so fucking sad because we are still abandoning our vets. Letting them die and/or live the rest of their lives in agony from all of the exposure, not only to the chemicals in the burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan, but also the exposure to those horrros they experienced that left them broken mentally and hysically.
He's right where any top-tier guitarist wants to be - unburdened by the fame. He plays his heart out next to his best friends. That's a lottery ticket right there!
I’d argue he’s one of the greatest acoustic players of all time, dude can play anything and can do it 100 different ways, I’m sure he likes doing what he loves without being bothered by all the fame though
I was first introduced to Dave Matthews Band on the way to a soccer game when I was 14. The song was "Satellite". I realized this is my kind of music. I finally saw these guys play LIVE when I was 17 years old in Charlotte. It was epic. Someone tried to get me to smoke pot and I remember thinking, "Wait, is smoking pot a thing at DMB concerts?" LOL ;P
This album came out my freshman year of college, and the sense memory it creates every time I listen is wild; I can literally smell the dorm rooms. Forever my favorite D&T album.
Man, I was a freshman at Indiana in 2007. When Crush came on I closed my eyes and was back there, also. Wild how powerful music can sear certain memories into your brain. Almost made me have some kind of high flashback and I've been sober for years.
Hearing this performance about 5 years ago got me almost addicted to D&T and DMB. I overlooked DMB in the 90s....boy was that a mistake...these last 5 years I’ve listened to everything I can from both and it never ends. The content never.ends. It’s amazing. Thank you!!!
I swear this sounded much more sad while I was listening to a burned CD of this on repeat while my mending my first real broken heart. Now that I have a few grey hairs, I'm actually watching it for the first time while my wife and are dozing off on the couch, it sounds kind of happy.
You know what's exquisite about this concert video (besides the performance itself)? The fact that the whole audience isn't just a sea of people holding up their damn iPhones. Everyone is fully present and it's such a beautiful energy.
The version of Lie in our Graves from this concert is by far the best version and has by far one of the best, if not the best solos from Tim Reynolds ever!! I can listen to that second solo over and over and pick up something new each time. Tim is "Pure genius" and Dave couldn't ask for a better partner to play alongside him.

Tim the Acoustic GOAT, dude can shred.

The line in Nancies "I thought fathers would live forever" gives me chill every time.
One if my favorite versions of the song 🔥💯
