I now find myself going through thrift racks muttering “this is ass. More ass. Trash brand, the assiest of asses.” 😀
🤣😂
😂
OMG! When I heard you say this line, I LAUGHED outloud. You are SO FUNNY!!! "Port Authority is authoritatively... what's the word?... Ass."
I have watched your channel for maybe 2 years, and by far these videos are the ones I love hands down! This is an amazing format.
I agree there's literally nothing more helpful. Besides maybe the menswear manifesto of course
Absolutely agree with you James Simms. I literally just binge watched all the "EVERY LABEL" videos i could find on Thrift A Life You tube channel
I appreciate these videos much more than the edited thrift videos some creators make, showing only the highlights. Those make me feel like I’m doing something wrong when I’m at the thrift, wading through a sea of nothing but ass. These “every label” videos are much more honest and educational. This is what thrifting is ACTUALLY like... unfortunately
Ever since I started watching your videos I find myself going through the rags mentioning the brand... George ass, I spit on Michael kors and so on and so forth 😂😂😂
"You're boy is a bird watcher" 🐦 For whatever reason this fact turned me on a little bit...hahaha
"Separating the wheat from the ass..." HAD TO WATCH lol
great video. this browsing exercise reflects the story of my life when thrifting with 99% of items being rubbish
My beginner reselling days when I thought getting a Van Huesen shirt for 1 dollar was awesome. 5 months later still trying to get 5 bucks for it. And love this video where you analyze every brand you come across in store. Wish you'd make one of these weekly.
Yeah, Izod for me. UA-cam reseller big shot who in his videos says “sell what you love to shop for”. Wish I had seen these videos last July.
Same…ooohhh Van Heusen! I sold a larger one I think. I now pass thanks to this education. While quietly saying trash
Banana republic for me.
You have more followers than Jack Valentine now. "Hello everyone!..."
You make me laugh. I have been eye to eye with you on the thrift store pickups vs bins pickups. Thanks for the confirmation.
11:08 I probably would have grabbed this Scripps college shirt - that shark is 🔥
12:02 mimicking the Nancys had me laughing so hard XD
Just “one homies opinion” Love this. I always learn so much from you Matt.
“The key words go on and on. The brand does not.” 💀💀💀😆
Is authoritatively... what's the word?... Ass!!! ROFLMAO!!! Literally cried laughing!
Allen Allen is a womens brand. I pick up their linen clothing when I find it. It sells quite well for me.
You give POV videos a whole new meaning!
Love the videos always learning thank you for sharing 💕
You can use hybrid as a keyword for mixed fabric in clothing.
Love the tag search videos!
Love this style of video! I just wish you’d tell us how you really feel (I’m kidding, the Loft getting the bird was hilarious)🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tail popped up on my radar recently. Golf brand. Looks and feels totally pedestrian but it apparently is popular. I've sold about 5 women's tops in 2 months and they've sold quickly and at list price 20-28. FYI.
I have gotten some ass brands for $1 and use them for myself. Not too proud to pay cheap for anything fairly new and use myself. I do think you give excellent advice. Thanks
Lots of good commentary in this video Matt! Bird 🐦 watching boy🙂
I love this style of video, I’ve learned so much.
Have you had luck with Faherty brand? I picked up a couple pieces and trying to decide to sell each or bundle.
Thanks for your awesome content!
If you ever find all over Paisley pattern Fred Perry polos and shirts they can do well the more garish even better . So love watching your vids brightens my day a lot . 👌☺
On average, how many thrifting hot ladies do you have to fight off while wearing the camera glasses in each store?
This comment made me laugh! That opening clip of Matt with the "spy" goggles on makes me chuckle too.
Between 69 and 420
😂
Bad threads! I’m dying! 🤣
So funny, I literally just got a teal London Fog trench at the bins. Did not know it was a good color.
Love your content, the part w your contact lens was good viewing
I love when you do these videos!
Always love and learn from your videos Matt. Port Authority is a brand sold to screen printers / embroiderers for promo stuff. Like Gildan & Alternative Apparel. Still ass…. Lmao about the marinara brands … my first year I looked up anything with uomo in the brand name. Keep on Spy Master!
Marinara comment got me too🤣
Woah! That thumbnail CGI is stupendous!
I love those tailor byrd shirts. Those flip cuffs and collars are really nice. Surprising their sale/thru sucks as bad as it does. Like you said unfortunate.
Ive actually had great luck with Robert Barakett, especially in larger sizes, I usually collect them and lot them up
Excellent video, my liege. Authoritative Ass is some fine alliteration and not a bad punk band name.
I love that crane shirt!! I think they were Sandhills
Haggar The Bed Bugs of the Pants Section LOL
$9 boardshorts? Wow. Thats, Crazy pricing. Good video!
Bro, you are hilarious! Awesome content.
This is my favorite content you do. Others do similar but nobody really compares because you have the best phrases and knowledge!! Hope you do a giveaway at 20K subs u should celebrate that milestone. Congrats and to 50K after. 🍻
Barkers is a New Zealand brand , Vintage collabs with Flying nun records, Swanndri (wool clothing brand) and Mackinleys (NZ made shoes) . More recent ranges include New Zealand merino wool knitwear, organic denim, recycled materials, and denim requiring reduced water usage. Casual shorts retail at $89 , sweat pants at $100 + . Used to be the supplier of Formal wear for the all blacks ( NZ national rugby team) , that changed in 2020 to Italian brand Replay Denim.
Mel dropping serious knowledge! Are you a Kiwi?
Just hearing "ass brand" makes me laugh over and over. Thank you.
I would have automatically gotten that Paisley polo without looking it up yay me...I'm learning. Also I abhor Paisley so generally, anything I feel that strongly about does well.
Low key straight up fire pass
I grew up seeing paisely (spelling) everywhere.
Saw that shirt and had a flashback haha
Gotta dig for the good stuff. 👍
19:56 how come a "no" on the Nike Dri-Fit Rams V-neck? Maybe a bins pickup? I can see it going for $20-30
I was wondering the same thing.
Love that game of thrones shirt. Cool graphic. Lol
I love when you find a brand that makes you spit, so funny
Matt is developing a relationship with his viewers similar to Seth Meyers' Corrections Jackals
I don't know what that is but yes I concur
@@ThriftALife It’s on UA-cam you should check it out. Basically every Friday in a UA-cam only segment, Seth Myers addresses all the UA-cam comments he gets correcting something he said or got wrong on Late Night. Super nerdy stuff. He refers to his UA-cam comment section critics as “Jackals” and speaks directly to their complaints. It’s pretty hilarious, especially for well educated and literate scholars such as yourself.
I found a pair of Rhone shorts yesterday (first time) paid up for them. $4.50? Going to list them this weekend.
I need a link to your camera glasses! I must have those. I'll even click on your referral affiliate link if you have one.
You're the king of the keyword
I see you saying you would pick certain items up at the bins but not for $5. My bins cost is 1.79 / lb. So a shirt *could* cost $3 here. What is your minimum profit margin you expect when buying?
Have a lot of used Sonoma shirts if anyones interested.
is that LA Rams jersey shirt not worth much? I always assumed Nike sold well at 19:56 I tried looking it up but the only thing close was 130 and it was a real jersey not a shirt
For brands you would pick up at the bins , how much is ok to pay at garage sales , cheap etc on those brands?
I would have picked up the tribal PacBlue
Hey Matt, so Chaps you said is not good, but it looked like that one shirt was a Chaps and Ralph Lauren shirt. Does that make any difference?
what kind of camera glasses do you use?
“Pure ass” lol
My favorite vid!!!
Did they not have more jeans, I only say you go through a couple of pairs of actual jeans in the first video? I would love to see you go through a bigger jeans section, and off to the bins for an undercover trip.
Sometimes I pass on Johnny O and LLBean but then pick up Dana Buchman or Ann Taylor. Need consistency or emotional regulation or something.
When you are saying that some of the vintage stuff might be worth it, how can you tell if something is vintage or not?
TAIL is a tennis brand.
You are the best!
Fantastic content
Would you pick up ONeill for $2.50?
Quote of the video - 'Your boy is a bird watcher'
The 🖕🏻to “live love loft” sent me
Did u get around to Fancien yourself to that Bauer my guy it was high KEY Dat fiyayeer. You got to stop Playa, but I know fo sho that's your style 😎 I can't get caught in it, but your hair does all the work for the shirt!
I don’t buy long sleeved button up mens shirts anymore. They don’t sell for me.
You are soooooooo funny! I crack up wat hung you every time 😂
Keeping it real.
Hey Matt did your Goodwill recently bump up prices? Recently went my local Goodwill to find Tshirts went from 2.99 to 4.99
Some yes, others no
Oliver Paisley - hell of a guy
13:27 lol
No, Fresh Produce does 100% sales for me over time - takes a minute to sell for me but I'm out of it.
Add me to the list of folks who like and appreciate this segment of your channel. The thumbs are up one might say. 👍🏻
Matt's QOTD: "Ecko Unlimited is ass...unlimited ass!"
Great vids. Watching them all in order. Learning a lot and especially like the pov ones. I havent seen the brand denim & flower mentioned. I see a good amount at my local goodwills and they seem to be decent quality and style. Made in India. Any run ins with that brand or opinions? Tia.
Are you this thorough when you aren't filming with the glasses or can you recognize ass on sight without digging for labels?
You search comps really fast. Are you using the camera feature on the tag or typing in the information?
I'm typing it in. Those parts are edited so there aren't lingering boring shots of my phone
Kirkland makes cashmere??? k
Just wanted to ask if you have seen Kids in the hall. A skit show from 1989. So funny and Kevin McDonald is reminding me of you! In the best way. He is so funny.
Probably saw every episode when I was a teenager
So which are good if mostly all bad?
See the Menswear Manifesto. Also Matt uses the term "good" vs "ass" in terms of sell-through percentage not if it looks cool or is sellable for something eventually....
Tail is women's golf - older brand. It does OKish for me
A womens brand called “Tail” is pretty funny ngl
Stafford? More like Stassord
Van Heusen? More like Van Pee-Ewsen
Chaps? More like ass(less) Chaps
Thats right
I would have maybe picked up the cranes.
i think he said there was a stain :(
@@dustyoldhat Always with white! :(
A cross between a sweater and a shirt.. You mean a shwirt?
"pacific blue" clothing -- pops it right up on "the Google".
You must find it on "the Ebay" to gauge value and demand
@@ThriftALife - True 'dat! But it took all of 5-seconds on eBay as well...
You can try filtering for brand but honestly that is usually a fruitless endeavor for me
@@ritasjourney - You just need to be more specific with your searches. "Ocean Pacific" would pop any number of things including books, art etc.. But "ocean pacific clothing shirt print" would get you real close, real fast...
how does a beginner tell if something is vintage? Do you walk up to the clothing item and the item says, "Hi! I'm vintage!" 🤣🤣
Tags first then style/appearance. American brands will say Made In Usa and the tag will look older.
@@dustyoldhat Thank you!
Hope your contact lens fell out, not rolled back into your eyeball
I buy George brand all the time. I Buy High and Sell Ass Brand Lower than Low. Just like when buying stock "Buy at the Tip and Sell at the Dip"
You should probably book a one way ticket to Wall Street mate
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
😂😂😂😂😂
Beverly Hills Polo Club is not Ralph Lauren
I didn't wanna say anything. But you're right.
Still ass though.
I know. Did I misspeak in the vjd
@@ThriftALife Yeah you said it was one of the handful of derivative Ralph Lauren brands that are "pure ass"
@@dustyoldhat yeah, by derivative I meant derivative of Ralph Lauren, as in mimicing RL. Could have phrased it more clearly
