Would you consider doing a tutorial about “windowing” as a mean of eradicating clicks & noises In making a patch. With or without a groove object (reverser object for instance?)
Hi Andrew. Been struggling getting my controller to work with my laptop (2019 Macbook Air). I'm using the same patch and controller as I have successfully used on different devices, however when I select the controller from the umenu dropdown Max crashes. I have tried reinstalling Max and the same issue is still happening. Not sure if you'd know of any solutions?
Do you get any error messages in the max console when you reopen it after max crashes? That would be the best way to try and track down the issue (although it doesn’t always report it in the console when it crashes). My other question is did you already send the poll message before you tried to select the controller? Sometimes in max when you try to make hardware changes while the patch is running code that either sends or receives data from the hardware it has the potential to crash.
I am using a thrustmaster joystick that I bought from amazon. If Max recognizes the controller but you are not getting output it might be because you didn't send the hi object the poll mesage.
Wow, that's much easier than I would have expected. Time to find my old usb game controllers, I guess!
Really useful clip, thanks Andrew.
(constructive criticism: the word "axis" is pronounced in this clip as "Access")
This is super useful! Thanks✌🏼
oh thanks! I think I have to buy a game-controller now :-)

What packages or extension plugins are used? Max outputs umenu doesn't recognize 'menu'
Edit: Nevermind, Max just needed a restart

Hi, may I ask which game controller you are using? My MAX8 recognizes the controller but it doesn't work.

@@AndrewRobinson26 Okay thanks. Now my game controller is recognized in MAX8, but in patch I found that it didn't control playing music.
time to actually use the steam controller for something
