Not everything ends the way you want it to. Lapis isn’t gonna stay just because of a few rosy words. She’s scared of what the diamonds will do because she knows their power.

I personally think that her "complaining" to the other diamonds about how difficult it was to keep the colony running was her way of trying to save the Earth by making it seem like it wasn't worth the trouble to obtain it. That's just my way of looking at it, since we don't fully know yet if it was entirely just a selfish act to get away from the whole being a diamond/leader thing. I know some people have decided that they hate PD/Rose after this episode and that's fine, you can feel what they want. I'm gonna wait till we get more information or maybe even flashbacks to see what she was thinking/feeling, since of right now the only people that know that are PD and possibly Pearl (but probably not as much). And since we know PD and Rose are the same person basically, we can look at the past scenes with Rose as a way to help establish PD's character. Some people think after this that Rose never really loved any of the gems or humans (she saw them as Pearl said "as a novelty at best"). And I do think that the love she feels for the Earth and the organic life might not be an ideal kind of love, at least at first, but I do think she cared deeply about protecting the Earth and its way of life. This kinda ties into the lyrics of "Love like you" and gives the song new feelings behind the words. Man, this turned out way longer than I thought it would, sorry.
