The important point here is if it was angled head on collision and if speed of both cars were 100 kph then it means the cars hit impact is at least resultant 200kph . Even Safari passengers are very lucky to survive here and out of danger. Great job Tata. Maruti as always shit as it can be.

Yall also gotta understand, if a suv and sedan collide ,then the sedan will have more damage comparatively than an suv. Suvs are safer in case of head on collision but are deadly for other smaller vehicles
Yes you are partially right..but in this accident you can see the structal integrity of the car is completely compromised. If it was a Volkswagen, Skoda or indian brands (Suzuki is not a indian brand), it would have lesser passenger casualties. I am suspicious about Toyota built quality also, because I have seen the accident yard of Toyota where majority of car airbag did not deploy even after proper head on collision.

This video itself had the answer, here Tata Safary Driver had no fault still they met with an accident what if they were also traveling in the same tin car then the death toll would have been 10 instead of 4. Build quality is important for this kind of unexpected accidents only. But even after watching the live example in the video itself still people like you are bluntly saying build quality is nothing.

Ciaz is much better that other suzuki vehicles. At this speed any sedan would result the same either it be verna, city or even vw ones. Look at the damage to safari as well. Safety rating would have no role in this kind of high speed crashes. Juat because of big suv, people in safari are not dead.

Its not about cars, its how you and drive control. Cars not meant to crash others. And most of this horrific accidents happens only on highways and the maim reason for this are rash driving, driver is sleepy etc..
Government should be more vigilant about the car safety. Strict safety norms should be set for all the vehicle manufacturers so that the people can be saved from these blind profit makers.
T bone collsions where you get impacted by 2 ton SUV, a sedan will always get crushed. No matter which brand of car it is. There's no crumple zone in side impacts. Even in safari people are safe because the crumple zone worked as intended.

Agreed that side frame are not as strong as front, and angle of impact matters, however, it doesn't take away from the fact that the side frames of Maruti are weaker than competition. If you check online sites about vehicle frame components and structure used by different car brands, which I recently checked, Maruti Suzuki and some other brands, for India, uses medium strength steel frame in door panels and floor to save weight, while Tata and Mahindra use thicker high strength steal structures. Same Suzuki cars here in UK have a decent 3.5 safety rating while Indian versions of the same cars have zero rating. Maruti Suzuki and other companies deliberately do this for Indian market due to people's demand for mileage in this high fuel price time. I'm not trying to trigger you or hate Maruti. Back in India, one of the 3 cars that I have is a Maruti, which my wife uses. I am thinking of selling or replacing it after watching all these consistent poor results during accident from every angle. With the amount of idiots on Indian roads that don't follow rules or slow down on intersections and U-turn openings, I would prefer my family to be in a safer car.

@@d_techterminal No, I wanted to specifically point out Maruti Suzuki for T-bone accident, since you had mentioned 'no matter which brand'. A stronger built car would not have crumbled so bad as it did here. A few days ago there was a video of a Tata car getting T-boned by a bus from driver side and then pushed and pressed against under construction flyover pillar on the other side. The frame didn't crumbled this bad even though it got crushed from both sides and passengers survived with few injuries. There are many more cases of Tata's small hatchback not crumbling on side impact against heavy vehicles or immovable objects, while keeping passengers alive. So brand kinda matters.

Hello Pratik- One thing I want to share that AgraExpressway is not having Highway Gaurd Railings. If this would have been there the impact would have been on the vehicle which had made mistake (not on Safari from the opposite side) . As Yamuna Expressway is fully equipped with Gaurd Railings as I use this highway from Lucknow to Greater Noida very often.
I am a proud tata nexon owner ...2017 model hai mere pass no issue at all 85k kilometer run....

Expressway are not made as per standard. The divider should be either on higher vertical or should be barricaded , note as per physics opposite motion adds velocities so this accident happened at 100+100= 200km per hour and No car can withstand it.
Safari is lucky as the collision happened front to front else side collision would have costed more lives.
It's a Car which takes your life but the design of road take others innocent life. Improvement in road science will take another 30 years in india to get improve.

No alternative for Maruti, Hyundai and Kia at the moment. Yes Mahindra and Tata make solid cars but Tata has horrible engines of their own, plus after sales service of both the brands are never satisfactory. Not too mention resale value as well. Indians always shy away from good products like Honda, Ford, Chevrolet and Fiat. Also, Indians have always known to be the most frugal yet demanding customers to please. Everyone wants safety yet they want the fancy ambient lights, sunroof, wireless chargers and mileage too. You will get want you want but at the cost of something else. Condolences to the family of the people in Ciaz.

Govt. should take some steps to ban such cars which don't have atleast 4*safety rating...it is true that in high speed no car is fully safe but at least 4/5* safety rating cars provide some short of safety to the passengers.
weight difference matters folks, they are different category vehicles, passengers in the heavy vehicle ( with crumble zones ) will be safe in general, the same effect will be there If it was with Altroz and Safari, use your brain 👍.

A safe car will cost 1-2 lakh more and maybe less features but will save your life. Life is surely more important than some lakhs or features. If you cant afford go by train or bus but dont travel long in unsafe vehicles.
