I bought a 3 year old 2016 Journey R/T and I couldn't have been happier with it. I came from a 2002 Yukon XL, so it was quite a jump into a smaller vehicle, but it doesn't feel like a smaller vehicle. In my opinion, this is one of the absolute best cars of this class out there. I looked at quite a few options from Chevy, KIA and even Dodge and couldn't find anything that had the solid feel that the Journey had to it. The power is right in the range that I prefer as well. It's not too sluggish, but it's also not too wimpy to pass someone when necessary. However, you do need to get used to the sluggish downshift, as mentioned in the video. But once you realize how it works, it's not an issue.
I've had the car a little over 2 years now and I still haven't found anything I really dislike about the car. I own a painting company and frequently need to run ladders out to my crew. With the fold down front seat I can bring an 8 foot ladder to them without having to toss it in the back of my truck, and I seriously love that! And all of the storage is amazing when I'm running around with cans of paint that could possible spill. I just drop them in the back compartment and it holds them without me worrying about it.
I think Dodge did a great job with this car.

Thanks for a very fair, thorough, and well-reasoned review. Most reviews seem to assume that everyone wants every vehicle to perform like a race car.

I just got this as a gift about 2 weeks ago..doing this backwards I guess. To my surprise, I truly enjoy this Suv. I had an old luxury suv and really didn't want to let it go but glad I did! This review is a confirmation. And THANKS for showing me how those seats work in sliding forward. Lol

The Journey is a great overlooked car. Allot of my friends would never consider it. Too bad because Dodge really has this one done well. Me I would upgrade the tires to my off road ability, and have my self a cheapy USA style Outback. Yeah stretching, but when you look at all you get, the Outback sure has the AWD Subie goodie, but this does too, though the Subie is not slip and grip like this one is. This Journey outfitted, and a bit more customization would be a most tops choice ride. Nice review Sam.

Looked at the KIA Sorento as both my neighbors have it. I don't think its a competitor to the Journey unless 3rd row space is not important. My wife and I looked at the Sorento, Pilot, Rogue among others and the Journey had the best interior layout. The storage areas under the seat, under the 2nd row storage bins, and trunk are all incredibly useful. The Journey ends in 2016. I'm 6'2 and I'm amazed how much space in front and 2nd row. I even fit (comically) in the 3rd row with my feet to the sides. The sliding 2nd row seat and fold, collapse features are just smartly implemented. Very impressed. Proud owner of a 2016 Dodge Journey AWD Crossroad Plus.

The Journeys are going to be around a long time!!! They are really great vehicles! My parent's owned one since 2010! They are still happy with there car and don't plan on trading it for a new one either! They all basically look the same. The only downside is the interior back then! But that's still no big of a deal. There great cars.

Why are the 2016 Dodge Journey crossroads are ending??? I was just looking at a 2016 someone selling at a used 🚗 car lot for 6,995. I guess that's why its going for so cheap, they not making these suv anymore.😌

This is the BEST review I've seen concerning the Journey. My compliments to you! So many other reviewers put this machine down as Chrysler made junk, but I've always seem to gravitate towards purchasing one in future, when need be, no matter what anyone may say. Your review only confirms what I already know: this machine IS worth it. Peace...

+AladdinSaneNYC I have a 2013 with 165,000 trouble free kms on it, its the R/T model loaded even heated steering wheel, identical in colour to this.It has been good, mind you I have driven a 182 omni turbo, 1990 dodge shadow turbo, 84 dodge carvan LE, 96 grand caravan le,2003 town and country, and a 2003 srt/4 and put well over 400,000 trouble free kms on them, even origina exhaust!(just basics like brakes and tires)all of them are still on the road except the 82.(sold the to neighbourhood kids)

this machine definitely is worth it. I don't understand why these reviewers down play Chrysler and Dodge products, it's like they get joy out of it. Odyssey has the best reviews, but it'd the most uncomfortable and boring van. I rented it out on two ocassions, also odyssey is under powered.

I have a 2013 Journey. I watched a "Journey Hate video" where the guy stands in front of a Journey with hood raised. The engine was absolutely filthy, covered with dust and dirt, very bad. He's squawking about the heater core getting clogged. I thought, this dirt and filth will affect everything from air intake filters, rotating parts etc....
I love my Journey. It's like new under the hood at 113k Car still very tight and strong suspension.

Had a 4-cylinder low-end one of these as a rental way back around the time they first came out. It was so plasticky cheap. Thankfully Dodge did a real number on it and updated almost everything, particularly the interior.
I think the reason these sell well (better than I thought), even though the platform is a really old Mitsubishi hangover, is because of the amount of power you can get, the versatility of the interior (something Chrysler always excels at), and that you can get a loaded one for far less than any other 7-passenger crossover. A Ford Flex price-wise *starts* where a loaded Journey ends, to say nothing of the GM Lambdas, the Pathfinder, the Highlander, Pilot, etc. It's even cheaper than most of the 5-passenger crossovers. It won't drive as nice, but it's in the same class in terms of power. What you do lose out on is towing capacity (not a skill CUVs excel at anyways), and resale value. Personally, if I were looking at getting one of these, I wouldn't buy anything less than the loaded R/T.

mostly still liking my 2015 Crossroad.
However, the Colorado trip became highly costly, due to poor gas mileage (sometimes dipping to 21 mpg on the hwy) & very over-sluggishness.
Also, the cargo space is a lot less than it may seem.

The Dodge Journey Crossover SUV is a good Crossover and it's alright too... But to be honest the 1 big mistake that Chrysler made is that... They should've put the battery at the left bottom behind of the front bumper. It should've been on top beside the engine instead of the bottom. It would of been much easier to take out if it was on top instead of the bottom left behind of the front bumper... That you don't half to take off the wheel off and the panel behind the bumper to make things harder for people that have the vehicle. I don't know what Chrysler was thinking to do such a foolish way to put the battery there. "Biggest Mistake Chrysler Made".
