  • Today I'm going to share my Emergency visit experience with you from when I had ovarian cyst(s) rupture! This caused me severe abdominal/pelvic pain, but unfortunately there isn't a whole lot they can do about it. Hopefully this video can make someone else who experiences rupturing ovarian cysts to feel less alone...and less "crazy"!

PCOS lady here. The fun part is when the docs say that "women's bodies just sometimes do weird things", and let you lay there for hours before they finally give you an injection of toradol. (NSAID, not opiate.) It was nice of them to find free fluid with the ultrasounds, and then not figure it out that it was a ruptured cyst, even though I have PCOS and told them it was a ruptured cyst.

It's sad but I have a preferred ER that I go to- where I know they know me and will listen to me and my concerns. I go there and they take me seriously. The listen. They treat me appropriately. I've tried going to other ERs before and i always leave PISSED.

Second cyst this year ruptured last night :(
I went to the er the beginning of this year three separate times, and the first time they turned me away, claiming it was my period cramps, then the woman at the front desk proceeded to go "ew" when seeing I'm a trans man. The entire experience is horrible, and I'm an american with no insurance so instead of going back to the er, I'm stuck laying down in my empty tub in pain.
I'm hoping everyone here knows you're valid and loved. You'll get through this, and I'm wishing y'all the best 💙

I'm so sorry you had to go through that terrible experience! Sometimes the health care system is a huge disappointment.. sadly. Have you tried reaching out to Planned Parenthood or any LGBTQ health care resources? That way you don't have to pay thousands for care, since you are uninsured?

I felt a sharp pain 3 days ago then some discomfort. I went to the clinic the doctor did an ultrasound and found out my " water cyst " broke she said . Fluids around . She did IV and send me spasmol tablets twice a day for 10 days . That was yesterday. I feel sharp pain comes and goes and discomfort in the area. She said was normal and that could last 1 or 2 weeks cause it has to heal inside and the water has to be absorbed by the body. I can't sleep cause at nights the sharp pain is often. My question to u is. After your was rupted for how long did u experience pain and discomfort?

Yesterday I went to the hospital for abdominal pain and I thought I had food poisoning. Then when I arrived at the hospital, I had a sudden sharp pain on my right side. It turns out that I had an ovarian cyst rapture and also had appendicitis. The appendicitis was difficult to see on the CT scan, because of the fluid from the ruptured cyst, so the doctors were skeptical as to whether I even had appendicitis. Thankfully they removed my appendix and it was, in fact, inflamed and needed to come out. However, I was upset at how the doctors were so nonchalant about my pain. I guess they thought I was faking pain to get meds, but my goodness, I felt like I was being stabbed with a knife. It was a horrible experience.

I just had this happen 2 days ago it’s incredibly painful was in the Er for 6 hours. They did blood tests , 2 ultrasounds & CT scan gave me morphine. they ended up telling me to take ibuprofen and Tylenol and follow up with my OB/GYN. My Ob appointment is in 2 weeks. I really wish that they could do something about the pain because it’s so intense

Kake, thanks for watching! I assume it's different for everyone but when I have a rupture, or close to rupture- the pain is off and on for 1-3 days, sometimes 4-5. It will depend on how big the cyst is, and what kind of fluid is inside it.

I am pretty sure i had a cyst ruptured today at work. I was super bloated with pain on the left side of my lower stomach like someone stabbed me but left it there. There was no cramping where it was on and off. Just sharp the entire time and i was nausea. Also i have endometriosis and have a IUD for 3 years now and haven’t had any issues. This pain lasted for 2-3 hours. :/

Thanks for watching my channel! For me personally it's bloating and pelvic tenderness accompanied by "shock waves" of pain. Sometimes it can be "stabby" sometimes more "achy"..
Here's more info, this is provided by womenshealth.gov :
Most ovarian cysts are small and don't cause symptoms.
If a cyst does cause symptoms, you may have pressure, bloating, swelling, or pain in the lower abdomen on the side of the cyst. This pain may be sharp or dull and may come and go.
If a cyst ruptures, it can cause sudden, severe pain.
If a cyst causes twisting of an ovary, you may have pain along with nausea and vomiting.(twisting ovarian cysts are an emergency & you should seek medical attention)

Well I'm not sure if you are a minor , lol lol. Cysts can come and go quickly. The small sharp bursts of pain sounds like how mine feel! If you are a minor I recommend you talk again with your parents about your concern, or even talk to a school nurse or Planned Parenthood office. If you are over 18, I highly suggest you schedule an appointment with a gyne. Let them know you are NOT scheduling for your annual exam, that there is an issue, and they should be able to get you in sooner. If the pain is severe or you think there is an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest Emergency Department.
