I've watched both the videos and I'm so sorry some people are being so sensitive about tiny stuff. You truly don't deserve this and hope people understand and stop the hate because hobi himself said "anger is evil" and because of these solo stand and toxic Army's it makes all of us Army's look bad and I just truly hate solo stans also I don't understand why our fandom has become so toxic and weirdly so sensitive about everything and why do people spread hate without actually understanding the context smh
I'm sorry for the solo stans who attacked you for your observations. I hope everyone understands that the fandom is very diverse and huge that it's impossible to keep tabs on what happens outside of it. There is a huge increase in the solo fandoms and antis over the past years as the bands popularity sky rocketed. I really enjoyed your observations and would love to see more of your works. Thank you for your hard work.
I tried to find the mean solo stan comments, i couldnt find any. Has it been deleted? The ones left are pretty much some constructive criticisms in which we could agree to disagree.
I once read in twitter from an AMY, who is well equipped in both English and Korean that - RM write lyrics like he is an old soul, has been living for years and seeing the world from a perspective of a mature man. But V write lyrics like he is a new born just exploring the world for the first time. It make sense in my head.
And the fact that both of them have a song called 4 o'clock where each of their writing style contrasts each other and matches so well! :') 4 o'clock is one of my favorite. No one other than V and RM could've managed to create such a beautiful song with great imagery and melody. Ugh it's just *chef's kiss*
one thing i love about yoongi's writing is his repetition of certain lines or sentiments across different songs, re-examining them each time. a great and easily identifiable example of this is the line "i want a big house, big cars, big rings" which has appeared literally since their debut until releases from last year but it takes on a different meaning every time he uses it, depending on where he is in life.
He also includes repetitions of other members’ writing (usually Namjoon) in some of his solo and rapline work! As if to say, “I finally understand what my friend was saying,” or “I look back on the words you’ve given me, and they’ve stuck with me,” which I find incredibly moving.
i saw someone on twt say this about bts' rapline's writing style: >namjoon analyses the world >yoongi criticizes the world >hobi creates his own world this makes so much sense and it honestly stuck with me since then.
In my 4 years of stanning bts no one has ever explained to me bts' writing style more clearly than this video, thank you for this.it's such a improtant video for those who want to know more about bts' lyricism.
@@choreoseq I don't think that had anything to do with her saying that his songs are meaningless, you're taking this in a negative light for no reason.and secondly I think you need to understand that jhope does write lyrics that are meaningful but the overall vibe of the song is the element he always likes to outshine the most and you'll notice that whenever you listen to his songs and that's the point she made in the video I won't argue any further since whatever she said depends on how a person takes it and I think you're taking this down to a negative assumption
well, i've seen from time to time on twitter many armys discuss their lyricism, and how student armys or non-armys used bts lyrics for their essays. there's a lot of thread and discussion on twitter about their lyricism. maybe you're just not really looking into it
I have a secret to reveal. I used to study BTS lyrics and storylines, and then practice essays, creative stories and analysis questions on them for my English exams. I’ve finally completed my exams. My teacher told me a few months ago that I am expected to get a C and B (we have two English grades since we have language and literature separately) but after my exams she said that I will definitely get two A or above. 🥺 Thank You Bangtan for helping me with my weakest subject and always motivating me💜 TTU and Fake Love are still my favourite poems to write about. (They are poems for me even though they are written in a different forms)
Mera gave me a heart and I accidentally edited my comment so I lost it. 😭😭😭 Mera if you see this please give my heart back. 😭😭😭 (I literally screamed😖)
I think since Hobi is a natural dancer, rhythm is his second nature, so it's very natural how all his songs are rhythmically dance like... it's like doing freestyle in long hallway.
And that what makes me love his solo more than the other rappers. I mainly use his solo work for a BGM when I work. It's very fun to listen and made me more productive somehow hahaha
one of the greatest things about j-hope's lyricism is the sheer amount of literary and historical references he just stuffs into each verse, to the point where it takes someone three, four listens to fully grasp the meaning of it, and even then, it's difficult to understand, like in Ma city and in Outro: tear. its really interesting to see how he takes his background in dancing and literature (his dad is a literature teacher, and he has mentioned that he liked reading literature) and weaves them into poetry thats not only complex lyrically, but also have an interesting tone to them. his assertion of being from the jeolla-do province, his background in street dancing and hip-hop, and above all, his unique, refreshing, optimistic look at life, "i'm your hope, youre my hope, i'm j-hope" makes him one of the most dynamic songwriters ive ever heard (and yes, there's something about his lyrics and poetry reminding me of the oral poetic traditions, but ive forgotten).
Thank you for the analysis! You put things beautifully! What I love best about him is the perfect harmony between his artistry as a rapper and his lyricism as a poet.
I love listening to the full length version of Intro: Shadow, the way he essentially has an argument with himself in three totally different tones of voice and styles always blows me away.
I remember one time I was soooo immersed in Outro: Tear that I actually spammed my friend a whole essay about how this song is a perfect example of the writing styles of all three members (yes, I love this song so much, it's brilliant). They all talking about complicated and painful relationships and from the same perspective - someone who sees that their love is coming to end and in the most painful way, when no one does anything globally wrong, but it's crushing and crumbling and they're just hurting each other. Namjoon says a lot about the reasons for this, about his lies and unsaid words, and lack of sincerity from his side. How he loved but became indifferent to her because tried too hard to hide his dark side, swallowed all grievances and insults. And at the end, it leads to burnout and catharsis. She tells all these too correct words of comfort and about the inevitable end, and he doesn't want to listen to that, because when another person tells you that, you feel like you're full of ugly and wrong emotions, and the other person is right all the way. It's all about introspection and his faults and reasons for happening. Suga at the same time talks more not about what led to this but more about his emotions right now. He gives up, he's tired and just wants to end this but you know he's hurting really bad, it's a laugh from exhausting and shout from total helplessness, his heart is burning, and all he wants is to burn it to ash so there's no pain anymore. He's introspective too, but he's all about emotions and the present moment, there's no "if" and "why". There's only them right now. Hoseok on the other hand gives more attention to the structure of his verse. There's a lot of repetitive words, his verse is built around rhythm and his specific flow. There're flashes of memories of how this all went downhill as footage of the past. His verse more about feeling this than understanding like in Suga and RM's verses. That's why he shines here - he perfectly embodies inner chaos and complete disaster that comes with a bad breakup. Bangtan are really great examples of idols who are artists at the same time and this is one of the main reasons for their success - they're telling their own stories in their own honest and complicated way. They're not picture-perfect, they're people before anything else, and that's why we love them so much.
@@rossrogue9980 I- Thank you?! I'm really glad you liked this, English isn't my native language so I'm kinda self-conscious about writing such long explanations hehe
Wow this is amazing! It makes it even more meaningful knowing that Tear was actually written about the members during the time when they thought about disbanding :(
BTS are one of the best writers in the industry, I don’t take constructive criticism. Their lyrics are always so well-thought and always seem to impress me effortlessly. The references, metaphors, wordplays, everything is just absolute perfection.
and u know whats so crazy? a really sad amount of the fandom thinks they havent released good songs after wings. like i understand if ur musical tastes are not into pop (since after wings i can positively say bts is very much into pop) but ur denying them their lyricism. i cant stand when people think that just because theyre exploring more towards the pop-y sounds, theyre meaning has dissipated into thin air
i remember someone saying that mono doesn’t have an intro or outro because it’s a continuous cycle, just like life. it was built to flow seamlessly. mono is life persevering. a genius body of work.
The thing that I always remember as the interesting difference between RM and Suga’s writing styles is when Namjoon was talking about how originally he was going to write Seesaw. He was going to separate the word into “see” and “saw” to explore the changing of a relationship over time, while Yoongi ended up writing the seesaw as a metaphor for the unproductive ups and downs of a stale relationship that doesn’t work anymore.
After hearing this I have made two conclusions. 1. BTS members are still underrated as artists, be it by the general public, by the kpop fans, or even their own fandom at times. They are such different people, with such different backgrounds and personalities. And it reflects in their songs and lyrics. Each of them has their own crucial thing that they would rather talk about, it could be relationships, hardships, introspection, friendships, helplessness and so much more. Their group songs are what they represent, and their solo songs are what they are. I really want each vocal line member to have atleast one mixtape, so they can have their own personal style and identity. 2. Most of them need a hug. Like seriously, who hurt them? Edit - I think Jungkook has my favourite writing style. Little details and imagery really speak to me. When he dropped Still with you, I was sad, sitting in the back of my car, and it was raining heavily. Talk about perfect timing. That moment of my life is a very vivid memory in my head. But RM is also a very close second. Mono is to this day my comfort album, along with Folklore and Punisher, now. uhgood and everythinggoes make me cry everytime, and Seoul somehow perfectly encapsulates how I feel about my own city and life. Also, 59:04 - Did you just apologize for dropping an hour-long video? Ma'am please, this a gift bestowed upon us. Never apologize.
Absolutely, the lyricism is so deep sometimes that it is normal to skip through it, especially when it is not your own language. and second, yes jungkook's songs , personally feel like open letters, to us. even though they are addressed to everyone, its so hard hitting sometimes. Personally, i like namjoon and yoongi's lyricism, and then jimin, like its an amalgamation of both their styles, and yet jimin is able to separate himself and create something fresh and new, like LIE, like the song is an absolute masterpiece.
I can say that as someone who has stanned thos group for seven years, I don't appreciate them as lyricists and artists nearly as much as I ought to. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate even the songs I dislike, and I look up the words for the songs that speak to me or I want to understand more, but that's only a handful in their entire discography. This video showed me that there is so much more to even what I've already looked up and loved.
@@khushipandit2719 you forgetting about delulu fans, solo stans, crazy shipers, who not interested in their lyrics, their here only for looks and fan service😕
jimin's song always feel so ... off. "sinister" is the best way to describe it. there's a front, either upbeat (filter) or tragic (lie), and beneath that, there's something dark and personal and almost repulsive; the kind of thing you want to overlook but can't, once you've noticed it because it's so glaringly THERE. I love him.
It feels like an early introduction to the Jungian concept of the Shadow, to me at least. Like the things in those songs are all the things he feels or felt he couldn't say and through these songs they rear their heads, a lot like Yoongi's Agust D and Shadow tracks.
Sinister is one way to put it. In general I think Jimin's songs sound like temptation (good or bad). Like if you heard it in real life, you would have to really hold yourself back from just listening to it and doing what it says 😅😅😅
@@sbbs207 hehe I think Jimin's writing styles just seems light in the surface despite it being eeriely off it still lures you in, he uses his angelic voice to cover the darkness, but once you're aware of it you really can't unsee, which is why I'd advise to just listen to his songs without understanding it. 😅
@@StarlightStella613 Yes, his songs just feels like everything that he feels or felt that he couldn't say, which is why it feels very primal. Looking in to his inner world, it seems like he's already gone mad but in outside perspective he seems completely normal. I'm impressed how he's able to stay sane and act sane considering how dark and sinister his mind is.
Like seriously People literally praise Black Swan since it's one of BTS most artistic songs ever and there's hardly anyone who appreciates RM who freaking wrote that masterpiece man
Yes, I honestly don’t think enough ppl acknowledge or understand this about BTS. That RM is the main voice and creative direction of the group. Any time you come across a particularly striking or interesting piece of lyricism that jumps out at you, you can bet it came from the genius mind of their leader. He just writes that well. Their well written, witty lyrics and wordplay are why they got so big. Why they’re international and not just a famous kpop group in SK. They couldn’t have done it without him. The other members have added onto his genius to make them skyrocket into even greater territory from there
It depends of the song tho. And the phrase that make like it. For example a lot of verses that you won't heard that raw in a kpop group on tittle tracks and promoted bsides) ( when they debuted ) came from suga. That took a lot of people out guard. Even RM had talked about it.
Not all of the hate commenters outing themselves as not having a basic understand of the vocabulary on songwriting. If you didn’t understand what she was saying why not hop on google and educate yourself rather than leaving a stupid comment? I can’t believe any of you took what she said about JHope and thought it was negative!
It's BTS month, after all. Always a crazy amount of content, keeping us well fed. I think one of the reasons why I'm only a dedicated fan of BTS and no one else, there just isn't enough time to even just keep up with them.
@Bread Sometimes I take a small break from watching Run BTS bc I don't have time and as soon as I get back to it, I'm happy to have it back in my life bc it's so funny. Because you love for at least half an hour straight you can't help but feel a bit less stressed and happier. Of course I would be the saddest if we didn't get music anymore bc it's the reason I became and am and ARMY. But all the other content is nice, too.
@Bread yes, it really feels like you can turn off everything for a moment and just enjoy it. I feel it with pretty much any BTS content, their music, short vids, MVs, In the soop, run bts, ....
As someone who isn’t an army but is more of a casual fan of BTS, this video was great because I got to learn a lot more about their process and also make connections/comparisons to similar writers in groups that I do stan and follow more closely. Also Mera is unquestionably the pinnacle of kpop youtubers.
I also love how the writing reflects their personalities. Namjoon is naturally an overthinker, hence the way he uses metaphors and more complex concepts to explain simple situations. As for Jin, himself and the members have said that he always had a straight-foward, not complicated way of thinking, so in the BE-hind interview he even said he always writes from an objective point of view, based on his personal experiences. We also have JK, who said he can relate to Jin's way of writing, but wants to be able to write about and for differents characters and it makes sense seeing how introspective and observant he is. I'm crossing my fingers for a group album completely written, composed and produced by the members!
Mera I really hope you read this. I fucking love these types of videos because while production and beats and melody in kpop is something that is discussed more often by more critical kpoppies something that rarely is discussed is LYRICISM. As an aspiring writer myself who enjoys songwriting and storytelling and emotional depth in music more than any other part I find these videos so refreshing. Plus you have a very descriptive and eloquent way of speaking. I find myself having to rewind your videos often because I get lost in your beautiful use of imagery and adjectives. I notice as well that you speak of emotional potency in self written songs and how that leads to a deeper connection with the art. I think this is so important and it’s something I want to see a lot more of in ktube.
Ah thank you!! This is so incredibly heartwarming to read. I love love love lyricism, and part of what makes kpop so enjoyable is that it shows how many people can love writing from other languages. I’m so glad you enjoyed, and I wish you every good luck on your writing journey :D
I'm so excited! I adore BTS's writing and also the writing of their in-house team. How BigHit handles songwriting and producing in their company should literally be a guide for other entertainment companies because the work all ppl there do as a team is amazing. But of course, you need your band to have talent and passion to do this, and BTS are not the norm in any way.
I wished people who aren't ARMY would talk more about their writing. Of course non-ARMY opinions on BTS don't matter and we really don't need their approval to know BTS's worth, hard work and talent. But I would love to see what ppl who don't know BTS at all would write about their music if they had no pre-conceived attitudes or biases at all.
YES YES YES literally the other day I was thinking about this topic!! Specifically Hobi as I feel his writing style isn’t talked about NEARLY enough but all of the boys hold this talent in different forms! THANK YOU MERA!!!
His style is incredible, it’s so sonic and auditory and it makes me so happy. His writing kind of reminds me of the “audio” part of “auditorium,” like how certain plays and playwrights are meant to be heard, not just read.
mera his lyrics also have interesting wordplay , for example the idea of using ddaeng card game came from him. A lot of his writing came from stuff he sees ( books , movies ,kdrama , poems ) he even said himself , and that came cuz he knew a lot of about it ( or try to ) cuz of his dad's job.
when you are discussing RM it is imperative that everyone keeps in mind. Speaking more than 1 language adds a layer including in the writing. Being a RAPPER with this skill allows you to bend the rules of limitation and expand into cultures to create something new. It makes him among a rare class of artists. I like that you made mention of that
my favorite writer is Yoongi. Whether it's Suga or Agust D I can look up his verse in a song and I will always find a lyric that I can connect to or express myself through. I really love how Yoongi uses his real-life experiences, thoughts, and troubles to write lyrics that express him fully but also clearly deliver emotion and comfort to the listener. There is a song by Yoongi for every mental state I'm in or emotion I feel and when I turn it on that emotion is amplified and backed just the right way. For example, I listen to Honsool to slow down my thoughts or Give it to me when I want to punch people but unfortunately can't. Yoongi manages to establish a connection with his listeners even if their struggles are different than his by just setting the perfect atmosphere and tone through his voice and performance. I'll never go through his experiences of fighting against judgment and hate of industry peers or going number 1 on billboard, but Yoongi has this talent of narrating his out of the ordinary life while being next to his listener looking right at them. He doesn't feel untouchable when he raps about being the King of the world and I think he manages that because he built his character so well. He makes me see through his perspective even though I'll never actually experience it and it's all so effortless I can't not admire him the most. Also, I might be a bit biased, but the references to oral sex and bisexuality really give him those extra brownie points.
His work is like a journey through the entire human experience, and it blows my mind that he’s experienced so much at such an early part of his life. While a part of me regrets the hardships he’s been through, another part of me is so so grateful that there’s an artist out there who’s words and feelings reflect my own so closely. I always feel very seen and understood by his lyrics. (Also those are some good brownie points)
@@merafromyoutube exactly! He's just so... I can't describe it. He's so many people's "comfort idol" Just for this reason ahh the Min Yoongi supremacy is evident in this world but I wouldn't want it any other way
when you said that jungkook's music is largely focused on relationships and is very interpersonal i remembered that his first solo song (in wings) was a song dedicated to his hyungs and now im very emotional good lord
Words can not explain how much I love Yoongi's writing style . one of my favorite lyrics from him is from moonlight “ changes are fated to happen to everyone , perhaps it is how we change that is our karma to bear” . If I could, I would literally get it tattooed on me .
One thing I want to also highlight about taehyung's writing is the sheer amount of yearning in it. They're not always the painful kind, sometimes it's like he's comfortable in his yearning. But god there's so much of it.
I've always been impressed by the sheer amount of songs with lyrical complexity about different themes and subjects that RM has written over time. He is heavily involved in 90% of BTS songs, has his own songs, often writes songs for his members and has written for other artists as well. And he isn't 30 yet. No idea how he can still find the inspiration tbh. Writing is a lot more challenging than producing music, because you normally can only write about what you've experienced or maybe read. Music and melodies are a lot more versatile and can really change with the genre, which allows for much more freedom.
Taehyung really makes me transported to a different world, he is a master ( in my openion) of creating fleeting moment, vivid, intense but feather like soft. You can stay there as long as you want, but if you move or speak, the spell might break. I turn to him for a escape, a moment of pure unadulterated beauty which this world fail to offer sometime. I see beauty in his lyrics, unapologetic, romantic beauty with no inhibition to be rational or logical. 4 O' clock remind me of Ode to a Nightingale... probably the setting or powerful presense of nature or a desparate longing to hold onto something which is temporary. And it does not help that Tae has velvet, soulful baritone and loves to sing slow jazz, ballad, lullaby type song. It's atmospheric.
The amount of effort that it takes to analyze BTS’s lyricism and artistry is crazy. 68 pages & 1hour video? That’s insane….and you’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to BTS. Just wanted to say really awesome job and your analysis/research is incredible 👏👏👏
I love how Namjooon switches from language to language seamlessly and leaves many different meanings for speakers of both languages to come together and find. It feels connecting :)
i'm so curious whether mera has any literature/creative writing degree, because (as a literature and language major myself) i can just appreciate how knowledgeable she is about technical intricacies regarding the writing process. i'm just in love with her analysis over those things and can only wish to formulate such clear, yet remarkably profound interpretations.
I Stan bts only because I can relate to their songs. It feels like they know what I am feeling. Personally taehyung and Yoongi's lyrics are favorite and I feel so connected. Kpop fans always tell me that their are other groups who are really good. You should check out. But I never connected to them. Bts is really different, better then others as much as some people don't accept it. Just like when I was a new army and I listened to save me. I don't know why I just feel so connected. I was craving for my loved ones to give me attention that time. After that taehyung's stigma is like a medicine which gives me pain but it's so important. It's one of my favorite taehyung's song and those lyrics are my favorite because of some personal reasons. Bts give me strength, they gave me a hope which I really needed in my life in 2019. People don't realize how important bts is for some people. Now just like bts song " I am fine" I feel better. I am not saying I am fine I am saying " I will be fine". 💜💜
yes, there are so many kpoppies who insist to 'check out' other groups as well. They'll do it under anything relating to BTS because they can't stand that they stand on their own seperate from kpop. But they don't realize that most ARMYs have listened to some kpop groups already but just didn't see the same in them they saw in BTS. BTS to me is just on a whole another level from pretty much everyone, they're extraordinary.
@@Tessa_Gr exactly. One of my favorite Indian youtuber made a video about bts universe because he thought it's really deep. In the comments kpopies are like " Check out other groups, they also have universe, please check out this group, please make a video about this group too. " It's like they can't handle that the person only made videos about bts complimenting them. Bts is different and that's why they are the biggest boyband in the world.
@@Kanikaroy. yes, it's so annoying. Especially when you think about what it implies if you see all groups as kinda the same or replacable. Many kpoppies stan a few groups and replace the old ones with new ones. As if they aren't different individuals but just parts of a whole with no individuality. That's why I love how different ARMYs are, where multis are always on thin ice and it's not accepted to do the same with BTS.
i literally love V's songs they are just so chill lo-fi and laid back it's the kind of music you want hear while going to sleep they are just so peaceful. His songs feel like a comforting hug and i think that his voice is just the cherry on top the perfect mix of comfort sorrow and happiness
About J-Hope: Yes! And... There's a type of performance he does that is vulnerable, romantic, and usually melodic -- he sings a bit in this kind of delivery. Some sections that come to mind are below, eg, Make it Right, and On, and others. Although his vivid colors are so dazzling, J-Hope is also capable of tender intimacy, old-soul wisdom, and, well, poetry. He can let you come close -- he can be candid and often very hard on himself -- yet his intelligence and unique sensibilities still shine. Btw, thank you for sharing this piece, your thoughts, your language for understanding it all... Thank you! Make It Right: [Verse 3: J-Hope] I became a hero in this world, The loud screams that seek me out, My hand, trophy, and a gold microphone, All day, everywhere. But all of this is about reaching you, It's the answer to my journey. I'm singing to find you, Baby, to you. On: [Verse 3: J-Hope] Bring the pain, It'll become my blood and flesh. Bring the pain, No fear, now that I know the way. To the small things, Breathe. In the darkness, they are my oxygen and light, The power of those that make me "me." Even if I fall, I come right up, scream. Paradise: [Verse 4: J-Hope] Yeah The world doesn't have the right to swear. What is the way to dream a dream? Since they never taught us that, In the made-up dream, sleep-talk of tears, I wake you up from the nightmare for you. Now let's try to smile every day in that paradise. Love Maze: [Verse 5, J-Hope] What can we do? We did the official thing, So we need to follow the rules. Even in this wandering maze, Even on this mysterious path, We're taking care of each other. I always think, even if eternity is hard, I wanna try it. Let's be forever, Our own mountain, our own climb, Our own world, our own heart. Travel toward the exit; Held together, our hands become a map. Jamais Vu: [Verse 5: J-Hope] My song lyrics, each gesture, I become afraid of every word. My jamais vu. Again, I try to escape as always, But still, you grab me, Even as my shadow grows. My life and yours are an equal sign, So my remedy is your remedy.
33:30 Jin told us in a vlive that the producer gave him the first line of awake and he tried writing the rest, again and again, until the producer gave the okay
Jhope style of both writing and producing is so unique beacause of his ability to create just perfect soundscapes that fit with the theme of the song. While RMs lyrics are the most relatable/reflective to me, j-hopes style is entertainment in its purest form. Its really amazing how he writes introspective lyrics in the most sonically fun way possible. I personally enjoy the repetitions and the use of adlibs.
Jhope always presents serious and deep topics in a fun and simple way. If you hink about it, it's like how kids stories are ment to teach valuable lesson in a simple way with fun stories. Only here it's not simple stories but unique and brilliant music and it's not for kids but adults...😅😅
I'm always in awe by how Namjoon and Yoongi can fit so many themes and nuances within a couple minutes--they genuinely write as if you're reading a book. Thank you so much for this in-depth video! What a great way to start off BTS month.
as a literature student i adored this! you put into words a lot of observations i've also made about bts' writing styles over the years. but the way you presented it all - with perfect examples, attention to detail and conciseness - was stunning, and it reminded me of why i fell in love with bts' music. i can only imagine how much time and effort went into the making of this video, props to you. to add to your astute analysis of the rapline's writing styles: while namjoon often writes in an introspective, intellectual vein, yoongi's writing feels like raw expression of emotion, even when his lines are incredibly intelligent and calculated. j-hope focusses on the dimension of the body, not just the body of the music as in the soundscape, but also the body of the performer and the listener. his music is aimed at creating physical sensations and reactions, and somewhat in contrast with the other two rappers, he frequently explores the spontaneity of music. if i had to sum up their styles in a metaphor, it would be this: namjoon's songs are like sculptures carved from stone, carefully sharpened and perfected. yoongi's are paintings, showing delicate brushstrokes next to rough ones, material manifestations of different personas. j-hope's are like performance art - they are spaces to be explored and experimented in, to be filled with sounds and movement to create a unique experience within time.
this is the only video I have seen that appreciates hoseok's colorful, eclectic yet straightforward style in music. it's so difficult to explain how brilliant he is in words because his brilliance shows itself through abstraction.
Mera, I'm so sorry you had to suffer because of those toxic "fans" You are a well spoken person who does her research before putting up a video, go in details and dissect everything she can. I love your videos for that. Again I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine the mental pressure you felt and no word can soothe that horrible feeling. I'm just sorry for you. I hope you can move on from this. 💜
Haven't finished watching the video but this video literally got me out of bed today. I love seeing anyone analyze BTS' lyricism, it's one of my absolute favorite things about them. Kudos to you for putting together this video, I already know it's going to be amazing.
Gosh I want this video to have at least 10 million views because this is so well put and deeply researched analysis. I always knew that BTS is great writers but today I just understood the extend of how great writers they really are. Thank you for making such a wonderful video.
even tho picking a favourite joon lyrics feels like picking a favourite child i distinctly remember one stroll through the park at dusk where i could physically feel these moonchild lyrics hit me in the gut: In the moon’s hours, look at the night sky through the eyes of your soul It will show you your window and your time Did you know? That street lamp also has many thorns Take a close look at that flickering light Isn’t a night scenery such a cruel thing A splendid view unfolded before us that is made up of someone’s thorns Someone else will surely be comforted by looking at your thorns We are each other’s night scenery, each other’s moon
I came here after listening to Face because I rememberd you talking about how he uses "you" to talk about a different persona or a shadow of himself, I got that feeling a lot in Face but I can't really put it into words the way you do. It would be so cool if you did a video on his album
omg ok one thing i wanted to say about jimin's lie is if you also look at it with respect of music theory, i think its genius!! the entire song is in 3/4 time which always gives a song a never-ending feel like the lie he's talking about. Secondly the song is in a minor key but switches to a major key around when he says "lie" in the chorus. That is one thing that really impacted me when i listen to the song. I think its a reason why it hits so hard. Its clearly defining the lie
my favorite part about j-hope's songs is the fact that the lyrics itself sound like music. you explained it much better than i ever could, but just the cadence of his voice and his choice of sounds makes it seem like as if you're listening to two different songs at once: one being the rhythm and sound of the words while the second is the actual lyrics. to my non-korean ears, hearing him rap sounds a lot like scat singing which makes all his verses SO satisfying. the part where you said it sounds like he came from out of this world describes his style perfectly.
Hey, I am so sorry for everything that has been happening to you. This video is absolutely stunning and I really adore this channel of yours. I am so embarrassed right now as the disgusting people you mentioned were "ARMYs". We purple you mera! and as the rap line said, if you get hate, that's when you know you succeeded that's when you know you are talented enough to make people jealous. Don't worry okay?
the whole segment about how completely UNHINGED hoseok's art style is in comparison to the other members made me so happy. I could never put a finger on why his art just.. felt like a fucking shot of adrenaline and electrified me so much. you put it in words. "high-wire" is the perfect phrase for him.
And whatever she said in this video about hobi, specially the unhinged part was personified in his album Jack in the Box. Like he didn't just go unhinged, he went absolutely crazy and it was epic.
Jin is always saying how he never wants to show his dark side to ARMYs as he wants to portray himself as very positive and happy so armys can feel happy. I think that’s also why he puts on this whole ‘jokester’ and ‘WWH’ narrative Caus he is prefers to be private with his deeper emotions and personality. I think him writing music is his way of showing his more vulnerable side which is why it’s just very honest and thoughtful.
i have never seen a youtuber more devoted and DEDICATED as mera. an hour long video with sincere analysis, and noticeable research. thank you so much for this mera!
I've watched this video a bunch of times while trying to understand their writing styles more, and every time I come back with a new layer of understanding. Your writing is so cerebral that it has taken me a while to fully process this essay, but it has totally been worth the effort. I remember watching this video as a casual listener when it first came out and not understanding anything you were talking about, but now that I'm a hardcore army, I can defo appreciate it a lot more.
I've been an army for a long time and obviously, I appreciate BTS's song writing more than words can express. But this video made me aware of the different nuances of each member's own unique writing style, and just gave a lot of perspective about songwriting in general. I did not now I could appreciate BTS's songwriting talents more than I already do but this video proved me wrong. At the end of one hour I still felt like the video was short somehow. This video deserves views in millions, it's so well done!! This fandom and even people outside of it that're just now discovering BTS, should definitely watch it, it's such a beautiful deep dive in all the different aspects of each member's songwriting.
Jungkook's writing style is definitely the most appealing to me, maybe because I'm a hopeless romantic and watching my bias write songs like this just makes me melt 😂
Yes, it is still an EXCELLENT video. Don't let the bts antis (they're not Armys, they're solo stans, a pest to be exterminated) ruin your mood but I understand it's been a difficult experience, no one deserves that harassment. You're smart, ONE HOUR video with spectacular content about bangtan lyrics, this deserves a lot of support instead of hate. I wish you the best, recover and be strong because that kind of people are cowards in front of a screen.
Brilliantly researched and analyzed Mera! I love how in depth you go into each member's writing and style and how they each showcase themselves as unique individuals both in and out of BTS as a group. I am in absolute awe. Great work as always!
Didn't have the time to leave a comment when this video was first posted but after seeing your follow-up video I think I have to spread some positivity. To be honest, I'm not an Army and was never really interested in BTS beyond liking some of their tracks and saving them in my playlist (not that I hated them, either! Just didn't give them enough thought as I would some other groups that I love). Originally I just put this video in the background to listen to while doing some work because I love the way you express your thoughts regardless of what the topic is. However, I ended up watching and listening intently the whole hour the video was playing. You really helped me understand just how much thought and effort BTS members put into their lyrics and I appreciate it much more now. The way you talked about the members never suggested that you disliked any of them, I don't even think anyone would have gone out of their way to make such a high-quality analysis of a work of someone they dislike. I definitely started looking at BTS in a new light after watching this video and I'm listening to both their group and solo music more now. Thank you so much for this video.
Mera, I'll be honest with you, I love your videos so much, I am a person who's still in her mid-teens who just loves music but never pays much mind to what she listens to. But hearing the way you talk so passionately about music I get inspired to dig deeper and I'd like to thank you for inspiring me to do so I wish you a good day and also stay healthy! ❤
when you said that hoseok is a performance writer i actually gasped because ive been looking for a way to describe his writing style for so long and thats just a perfect way to say it
"J-Hope is Meowth" 😭 Love the long videos, don't apologize for that :) Long form appreciative video essays like this make me fall in love with the subject matter more and more. But I must say, I was fine for an hour, then you put Magic shop on. It makes me cry every single time I hear it or read its lyrics, no exception. J-Hope and V are probably the writers I'm most drawn towards, the visuals they paint are so vivid I live for that, I enjoy that a lot. Jungkook's lyrics are so lovely and pulls at the heartstrings.
This video really helped me understand why I love taehyungs music so much. It always seems to paint a proper picture to me. An example of this would be inner child. It's one of my favourite songs because of how he seems to be talking directly to his younger self, comforting him and telling him that one day he'll make it. Taehyung seems to me like a person who really carries his emotions on his sleeve when it comes to writing music. The way he uses metaphors, and compares emotions/feelings to real life things, it all just pulls together so well. His writing is also very photographic, if that makes sense. I feel like I'm always able to see scenes playing out, I'm always able to picture the stuff he writes about. His writing gives an emotional and nostalgic feeling, things that mean alot to me. I can always have a good cry to his songs.
I’m so glad you didn’t shy away from a long video, i love videos like this. Video essays are definitely what’s “in” right now. I haven’t even watched it yet, but I’m sure it’ll be great
i was thinking about yoongi's writing style the other day and how uniquely him it is. i notice a lot of people have a hard time describing it because it doesn't use the same devices as someone like namjoon does but you did a really amazing job in this video. it just perfectly articulates each member's unique approach to lyricism.
This is such a well made video with a really good analysis. Dont let those people back you down from doing these cuz these videos are perfect and very enjoyable!
I think you just explained to me why I love Hobi's sections in rap so much. I always said he did more than write and rap lyrics, the first time I really took specific note of him was in Goyeob when he was playing with sounds and I swear to everything he's the sole reason why that became my favorite song. Like, i loved it anyway, it's gorgeous, but i would play it specifically to listen to him to "tto tto tto." His raps in Dope, 1Verse, and Tear are also some of my absolute favorites of his. Actually, you explained to me why I love all three of our rapline's raps differently and equally. They don't have similar styles at all, even RM and Suga's aggression is different. I just really, really love and appreciate you taking the time and having the interest to do this. I'm someone who enjoys the music and doesn't always look up a song it check the lyricists. Now I want to.
@Hope I actually completely agree with you, thank you so much for your thoughts! I think I didn’t clarify myself as well as I wanted to, but I love that his lyricism and his rap are two halves of the same whole. I deeply admire the way he presents his identity and his story through music, and I wanted to highlight some of the power in his flow and sonic poetry, but I get that it left the other part out. I admire how much you love his work, and how passionate you are about his depth, this was beautifully stated. I do think you might have misunderstood what “performance writing” is, your comment makes it sound it sacrifices lyricism, when it itself is a form of lyricism. Performance writing is a poetry style, not a style related to actually being on stage. It’s a very interesting and complex form of writing, and it has incredible layers of emotion! But thank you for your comment!
Please do not “react” to this video on UA-cam or any other platform. To clear up any confusion about J-hope's section, please take a look at this follow-up, which explains it in more depth:
ua-cam.com/video/Xuev-qtHopk/v-deo.html
I've watched both the videos and I'm so sorry some people are being so sensitive about tiny stuff. You truly don't deserve this and hope people understand and stop the hate because hobi himself said "anger is evil" and because of these solo stand and toxic Army's it makes all of us Army's look bad and I just truly hate solo stans also I don't understand why our fandom has become so toxic and weirdly so sensitive about everything and why do people spread hate without actually understanding the context smh
Its really sad that you have to defend yourself because people are so mean. Take care of yourself and that intelligent mind of yours.
Solo stans ruin everything
I tried to find the mean solo stan comments, i couldnt find any. Has it been deleted? The ones left are pretty much some constructive criticisms in which we could agree to disagree.
I once read in twitter from an AMY, who is well equipped in both English and Korean that -
RM write lyrics like he is an old soul, has been living for years and seeing the world from a perspective of a mature man. But V write lyrics like he is a new born just exploring the world for the first time.
It make sense in my head.
✨
And the fact that both of them have a song called 4 o'clock where each of their writing style contrasts each other and matches so well! :') 4 o'clock is one of my favorite. No one other than V and RM could've managed to create such a beautiful song with great imagery and melody. Ugh it's just *chef's kiss*
@@dr.baidyanathsoren158 yes
@@dr.baidyanathsoren158 IKRR i find it so beautiful
it really fits taehyung’s personnality! he’s always so excited about things like a child! he’s brand new indeed
one thing i love about yoongi's writing is his repetition of certain lines or sentiments across different songs, re-examining them each time. a great and easily identifiable example of this is the line "i want a big house, big cars, big rings" which has appeared literally since their debut until releases from last year but it takes on a different meaning every time he uses it, depending on where he is in life.
He also includes repetitions of other members’ writing (usually Namjoon) in some of his solo and rapline work! As if to say, “I finally understand what my friend was saying,” or “I look back on the words you’ve given me, and they’ve stuck with me,” which I find incredibly moving.
@@ke7615 big house, big cars, big rings 😅😂 I mean not sure too but this is the first thing that came to my mind

i saw someone on twt say this about bts' rapline's writing style:
>namjoon analyses the world
>yoongi criticizes the world
>hobi creates his own world
this makes so much sense and it honestly stuck with me since then.
hobi creating his own world is cool
I think for Hobi it was Visualise the world but create is also good ^-^
pessimist vs realist vs optimist
This makes so much sense
The world is broken ~let fight to fix it ~ Let just create a new one
In my 4 years of stanning bts no one has ever explained to me bts' writing style more clearly than this video, thank you for this.it's such a improtant video for those who want to know more about bts' lyricism.

@@choreoseq ???
@@choreoseq she said "sound" not "lyrics" learn the difference please

I think since Hobi is a natural dancer, rhythm is his second nature, so it's very natural how all his songs are rhythmically dance like... it's like doing freestyle in long hallway.
Agreeeeee
But like srsly every time I listen to one of hobi’s solos I feel like I wanna dance
And that what makes me love his solo more than the other rappers. I mainly use his solo work for a BGM when I work. It's very fun to listen and made me more productive somehow hahaha
THIS!
Yaaaasss
what i learned from the RM section: he's a literal genius
For real🤯
ikr, everytime i listen to his music i remember that hes literally a lyrical genius
Yes, Ddaeng really is a masterpiece of a song
Wordplay is excellent 👌👏
Absolutely incredible...I really don't have the words. I still have a hard time believing he's only 26.
one of the greatest things about j-hope's lyricism is the sheer amount of literary and historical references he just stuffs into each verse, to the point where it takes someone three, four listens to fully grasp the meaning of it, and even then, it's difficult to understand, like in Ma city and in Outro: tear. its really interesting to see how he takes his background in dancing and literature (his dad is a literature teacher, and he has mentioned that he liked reading literature) and weaves them into poetry thats not only complex lyrically, but also have an interesting tone to them. his assertion of being from the jeolla-do province, his background in street dancing and hip-hop, and above all, his unique, refreshing, optimistic look at life, "i'm your hope, youre my hope, i'm j-hope" makes him one of the most dynamic songwriters ive ever heard (and yes, there's something about his lyrics and poetry reminding me of the oral poetic traditions, but ive forgotten).
Thank you for the analysis! You put things beautifully! What I love best about him is the perfect harmony between his artistry as a rapper and his lyricism as a poet.
Yoongi’s ability to embody a different person/narrator almost every time he raps will never not impress me.
Literally write my essays pls 😭

and u know whats so crazy? a really sad amount of the fandom thinks they havent released good songs after wings. like i understand if ur musical tastes are not into pop (since after wings i can positively say bts is very much into pop) but ur denying them their lyricism. i cant stand when people think that just because theyre exploring more towards the pop-y sounds, theyre meaning has dissipated into thin air
i remember someone saying that mono doesn’t have an intro or outro because it’s a continuous cycle, just like life. it was built to flow seamlessly. mono is life persevering. a genius body of work.
Namjoon's wordplay is pure genius and so poetic.. it's just *chef's kiss*
One of the Best song writer in kpop
No wonder his poem about Korea from when he was a child is still known so well.
Yeah... Sometimes it's hard for me to believe a person can even have such a mind
Wordplay in Trivia: Love is the best
Ikrr
The thing that I always remember as the interesting difference between RM and Suga’s writing styles is when Namjoon was talking about how originally he was going to write Seesaw. He was going to separate the word into “see” and “saw” to explore the changing of a relationship over time, while Yoongi ended up writing the seesaw as a metaphor for the unproductive ups and downs of a stale relationship that doesn’t work anymore.
this is so cool omg
We literally quote their lyrics on a daily basis, I dont think the fandom downplays their writing style ,coz it's the lyrics that made us stay!
@@iGotBulletproof-Insomnia well you're correct, there's always more to discover, I'll also try to appreciate them more :)

People literally praise Black Swan since it's one of BTS most artistic songs ever and there's hardly anyone who appreciates RM who freaking wrote that masterpiece man
Namjoon is probably my favorite everything.

I’m glad you enjoyed :D
yes , everyone agrees
I agree with this wholeheartedly

Jimin’s lyrics in Lie are so haunting. He really captures that sinister voice in your head pointing out your flaws and insecurities.
Yes and Jimin's voice played a major role in that. His vocal tone portrayed it so well. I don't think anyone else could have achieved that.
Trying to do my eyeliner when Mono came up was a mistake.
Danger zone
The struggles of being an AMI
Literally didn’t feel the hour pass away
I’m so relieved, I was worried it would be exhausting.
fr like i actually cant believe i had the attention span for this
Same
Ditto, the whole hour was amazing and couldn’t imagine anything having to be edited out for time. Mera don’t ever worry about time frames for us K!
Ikr it could have been longer and I wouldn't have minded I like it
when you are discussing RM it is imperative that everyone keeps in mind.
He's so many people's "comfort idol" Just for this reason ahh the Min Yoongi supremacy is evident in this world but I wouldn't want it any other way
when you said that jungkook's music is largely focused on relationships and is very interpersonal i remembered that his first solo song (in wings) was a song dedicated to his hyungs and now im very emotional good lord
oh ye begin its a good song im obssesed with it
Words can not explain how much I love Yoongi's writing style . one of my favorite lyrics from him is from moonlight “ changes are fated to happen to everyone , perhaps it is how we change that is our karma to bear” . If I could, I would literally get it tattooed on me .
Taehyung's writing style and focus of capturing a moment or a single emotion is like photography which he loves - both capture a moment or a feeling.
I like that, it can also be a painting other can relate to or imagine it
the rap line comparison to team rocket had my dying. girl that line was amazing
One thing I want to also highlight about taehyung's writing is the sheer amount of yearning in it. They're not always the painful kind, sometimes it's like he's comfortable in his yearning. But god there's so much of it.
Can't wait to hear KTH1, I already know that I'll relate to his yearning for love 😭
RM’s mono got me through a really hard time… and I love him forever for that
I've always been impressed by the sheer amount of songs with lyrical complexity about different themes and subjects that RM has written over time.
Omg I just so agree with your point. Can't wait to hear more of his music
tae has made me appreciate jazz more. it's not really my style but for some reason i love it when he does it. i love his vibe as a whole, so classy.
"RM is James, Suga is Jessie, and Jhope is Meowth" LMFAO
I dont get this refference. Where is this from? Can you help me please?
Sorry for my english
My god! It took me this comment to understand that reference😂

Prepare for trouble
one of the sexiest things about bts is their artistry, there is nothing like it
???
The amount of effort that it takes to analyze BTS’s lyricism and artistry is crazy. 68 pages & 1hour video? That’s insane….and you’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to BTS.
Just wanted to say really awesome job and your analysis/research is incredible 👏👏👏
I love how Namjooon switches from language to language seamlessly and leaves many different meanings for speakers of both languages to come together and find. It feels connecting :)
This should be required listening to every ARMY ever.
!!!yes
Agree.
I absolutely love RM's writing and style. Mono is a whole experience, a whole catharsis, much like you said. It's a masterpiece.
i'm so curious whether mera has any literature/creative writing degree, because (as a literature and language major myself) i can just appreciate how knowledgeable she is about technical intricacies regarding the writing process. i'm just in love with her analysis over those things and can only wish to formulate such clear, yet remarkably profound interpretations.
It's like they can't handle that the person only made videos about bts complimenting them.
Fr. I don't understand what's so different but I don't get the comfortable and homely feeling from any other groups rather than bts.
i literally love V's songs they are just so chill lo-fi and laid back it's the kind of music you want hear while going to sleep
they are just so peaceful. His songs feel like a comforting hug and i think that his voice is just the cherry on top
the perfect mix of comfort sorrow and happiness
Everyday i wake up with the knowledge that i will never meet a man w namjoon's intellect, and it honestly kills me
That’s why he makes music! So you can still reach him in this way!
The fact that being with him will mean that you get to be trapped in those arms and deep conversations kills my soul
This haunts me honestly like it's something I really look for but it's close to impossible to find
Thank you!
Make It Right:
[Verse 3: J-Hope]
I became a hero in this world,
The loud screams that seek me out,
My hand, trophy, and a gold microphone,
All day, everywhere.
But all of this is about reaching you,
It's the answer to my journey.
I'm singing to find you,
Baby, to you.
On:
[Verse 3: J-Hope]
Bring the pain,
It'll become my blood and flesh.
Bring the pain,
No fear, now that I know the way.
To the small things, Breathe.
In the darkness, they are my oxygen and light,
The power of those that make me "me."
Even if I fall, I come right up, scream.
Paradise:
[Verse 4: J-Hope]
Yeah
The world doesn't have the right to swear.
What is the way to dream a dream?
Since they never taught us that,
In the made-up dream, sleep-talk of tears,
I wake you up from the nightmare for you.
Now let's try to smile every day in that paradise.
Love Maze:
[Verse 5, J-Hope]
What can we do? We did the official thing,
So we need to follow the rules.
Even in this wandering maze,
Even on this mysterious path,
We're taking care of each other.
I always think, even if eternity is hard,
I wanna try it. Let's be forever,
Our own mountain, our own climb,
Our own world, our own heart.
Travel toward the exit;
Held together, our hands become a map.
Jamais Vu:
[Verse 5: J-Hope]
My song lyrics, each gesture,
I become afraid of every word. My jamais vu.
Again, I try to escape as always,
But still, you grab me,
Even as my shadow grows.
My life and yours are an equal sign,
So my remedy is your remedy.
RM's lyrics for ON always struck me as extremely powerful in very trying times.
Fr,its like my fight song
I'm always in awe by how Namjoon and Yoongi can fit so many themes and nuances within a couple minutes--they genuinely write as if you're reading a book. Thank you so much for this in-depth video! What a great way to start off BTS month.
man, this is highly unexpected but absolutely welcomed!
as a literature student i adored this! you put into words a lot of observations i've also made about bts' writing styles over the years. but the way you presented it all - with perfect examples, attention to detail and conciseness - was stunning, and it reminded me of why i fell in love with bts' music. i can only imagine how much time and effort went into the making of this video, props to you.
to add to your astute analysis of the rapline's writing styles: while namjoon often writes in an introspective, intellectual vein, yoongi's writing feels like raw expression of emotion, even when his lines are incredibly intelligent and calculated. j-hope focusses on the dimension of the body, not just the body of the music as in the soundscape, but also the body of the performer and the listener. his music is aimed at creating physical sensations and reactions, and somewhat in contrast with the other two rappers, he frequently explores the spontaneity of music.
if i had to sum up their styles in a metaphor, it would be this: namjoon's songs are like sculptures carved from stone, carefully sharpened and perfected. yoongi's are paintings, showing delicate brushstrokes next to rough ones, material manifestations of different personas. j-hope's are like performance art - they are spaces to be explored and experimented in, to be filled with sounds and movement to create a unique experience within time.
this is the only video I have seen that appreciates hoseok's colorful, eclectic yet straightforward style in music. it's so difficult to explain how brilliant he is in words because his brilliance shows itself through abstraction.
Mera, I'm so sorry you had to suffer because of those toxic "fans"
You are a well spoken person who does her research before putting up a video, go in details and dissect everything she can.
Kudos to you for putting together this video, I already know it's going to be amazing.
absolute mood
Gosh I want this video to have at least 10 million views because this is so well put and deeply researched analysis. I always knew that BTS is great writers but today I just understood the extend of how great writers they really are. Thank you for making such a wonderful video.
even tho picking a favourite joon lyrics feels like picking a favourite child i distinctly remember one stroll through the park at dusk where i could physically feel these moonchild lyrics hit me in the gut:
In the moon’s hours, look at the night sky through the eyes of your soul
It will show you your window and your time
Did you know? That street lamp also has many thorns
Take a close look at that flickering light
Isn’t a night scenery such a cruel thing
A splendid view unfolded before us that is made up of someone’s thorns
Someone else will surely be comforted by looking at your thorns
We are each other’s night scenery, each other’s moon
Finally a fellow Yoongi character writer believer!
Yes, finally!
AN HOUR LONG VIDEO OF MY FAVOURITE KPOP UA-camR TALKING ABOUT MY FAVOURITE KPOP GROUP YES PLEASE
Seriously. His potential to be an incredible songwriter is so evident, and to think it was his first song.
The fact that I didn't know the meaning of songs on mono but I still cried like a baby is the prove that RM is very good at putting up his point
later in their career along with more writing credits, i’d love to see a txt version 💕
Oh, definitely, once they’ve had more time to explore and publish.
my favorite part about j-hope's songs is the fact that the lyrics itself sound like music. you explained it much better than i ever could, but just the cadence of his voice and his choice of sounds makes it seem like as if you're listening to two different songs at once: one being the rhythm and sound of the words while the second is the actual lyrics. to my non-korean ears, hearing him rap sounds a lot like scat singing which makes all his verses SO satisfying. the part where you said it sounds like he came from out of this world describes his style perfectly.
when i call joon one of the best poets of this generation i truly mean it, with every bit of my soul
Me, a J-Hope stan: bashing pigeons is welcome in this house
Stream Hope World for clear skin
Hahaha! I AGREE!!
I guffawed!! This man sees me and my pigeon trauma. I’m here for it
the whole segment about how completely UNHINGED hoseok's art style is in comparison to the other members made me so happy.
Yoongi be writing entire books and movies in his 30 second verses, the man is a genius
Jimin's solo songs are definitely my favorite solo songs, both his unique vocal color and his writing.
Thank you thank you! Mid-teens is such a good time to listen to as much music as possible, so I say you’re doing perfect. I’m so glad you enjoyed!

*”These words are not a wordplay, just a warplay the world plays.”* SICK🔥
when you said that hoseok is a performance writer i actually gasped because ive been looking for a way to describe his writing style for so long and thats just a perfect way to say it
Namjoon - mentality writer
Yoongi - character writer
Hoseok - performance writer
Jin - Honest writer
Jimin - personal writer
V - externalized writer
Jungkook - relationship writer
"J-Hope is Meowth" 😭
Love the long videos, don't apologize for that :) Long form appreciative video essays like this make me fall in love with the subject matter more and more.
I haven’t even watched it yet, but I’m sure it’ll be great
i was thinking about yoongi's writing style the other day and how uniquely him it is. i notice a lot of people have a hard time describing it because it doesn't use the same devices as someone like namjoon does but you did a really amazing job in this video. it just perfectly articulates each member's unique approach to lyricism.
joon is literally a lyrical genius
We need a pt.2 of this dedicated to all the members solo albums that will be released in the next 2 years.
1 hour??? can't wait to get home to watch this!!!
