When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past - she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she's grown to love.

I don't give a shit what critics say....this movie was awesome! Here's to hoping for at least one sequel!
"Critics" these days are just pre-paid reviews based on the social politics of the film.
They're untrustworthy and thus are completely worthless. After all; what good is a review that you can't trust?
I can so agree. I have seen this movie now for at least 6 times and I love it!
Yep, the movie was surprisingly entertaining.
What the fuck are you on about? Critics enjoyed this movie a lot. It's the general masses that didn't go to see it.
The unnecessary big Fucking eyes dude... that was so dumb
Most underrated movie of the past decade easily. I did my part, I bought the blue ray, I really hope they decide to make sequel.
fwong01
I bought the blu Ray because I heard that was what you should do.
I hadn’t even seen the movie yet.
Best 20 bucks I ever spent!
I hope for a sequel too, asides from buying a dvd i watched in the theatre even though i hate going to movie theaters
Yeah the part where she said Hi YA! that was like a master class in screenwriting
Cant agree, DREDD is the one, this movie visually good, but boring as shit
@@HiAndyDog I liked Alita, but yes, Dredd is pretty amazing
Maybe if we all started chanting, "Sequel! Sequel! Sequel!" ...
"Sequel! Sequel! Sequel!"
"Sequel! Sequel! Sequel!"
"Sequel! Sequel! Sequel!"
When I hear "sequel", my mind goes to SQL, but that's because I'm a database guy lol
How about a prequel?

*The movie I most regret not watching in theaters.*
I normally hate 3D movies, but seeing this in IMAX 3D was a real treat.
3D usually make me sick but I had a feeling I had to watch this one in 3D and oh boy was I right, it's done masterfully and I'm so happy I could convince my friend to watch it in theaters. A second one might come out, all isn't lost. :)
Hopefully it gets a re-screening sometime, somewhere for you!
I'm glad I saw it thrice in theatres. :)
MegaChickenfish she looks so real actually
WHY @Megachickenfish why hav yu not watched this movie in theater,is it because its not some well know shit,Now regret for what hav yu done, and a curse from me yu will not be able to watch any marvel movie for 10 years.
Never listen to critics. They are out of touch with the rest of us. When critics rate something low, its probably worth seeing then.

Who says it's men don't like seeing strong female leads?! This movie kicked ass
Elizabeth " Man hater Unqualified not good enough director" banks said that.
Me. As nightranger said, it was a machine. If it was a human character a certain group of men would just be labeling her a Mary Sue.
@@redplague well no shit machines are overpowered compared to humans, what a dumb comment

@@vinny5638 "well no shit machines are overpowered compared to humans". What a dumb comment.
The power of punctuation is amazing lol.
Cameron and Rodriguez have several sequels planned for Alita, and essentially the entire cast are ready and willing. The hold-up is Disney. Alita was released under Fox, which has now been bought by Disney, and the fear is that any sequels will be lost in the Disneyfication of everything. If you want a sequel, I suggest you use social media and tell them. Get their attention.
Any potential sequel could already be ruined due too Disney's involvement. We've already seen how they treat female characters Cptn Marvel, Rey, Mulan etc. At this point I'd rather no sequel than Disney ruining something I enjoy.
Yeah, keep the memory of the good film.
Better save your favourite films on blue ray etc, i fear dark times coming regarding „Disneyfication“ of the Industry
Disney got it? forget about ever getting a good sequel. Maybe you'll get a sequel, but it will be utter trash
@@the6ig6adwolf what? Mulan was good, Rey was awful from 2nd movie on as J.J. set it up well but Kennedy and director for 2 destroyed that, Cpt Marvel was good but needed better actress cause she was bad.
yeah that kinda scares me, this movie was so good but I feel like Disney will try to make her a feminist "icon" and will lose the magic of the character
Alita: Battle Angel on Rotten Tomatoes

No we don't.

Ok. Can't wait that to happen. I'm gonna have a chance to meet the real Alita!
I never saw it. Damn now I wish I did

Hugo: "That's what they want you to think. You just gotta know the right people."
Hugo, you poor, deluded fool...
well he's right, connections with the right people get you pretty high up in life
If Hollywood waits too long they'll end up making a remake instead of a sequel
Oh god imagine, hell to the no!
It took Cameron 20 years to make this one. He's the only one besides the creator who has even limited rights to it. Hollywood can't touch it.
lol
You’ve heard him.....problem is Disney’s .....
One of the best Manga/Anime adaptations ever. Created by real Fans. Thank you Rodriquez and Cameron Team
I was surprised to hear how this movie was rated. One of my favorite movies of 2019 for sure.
The critics these days are just hyper leftists elitist assholes. If critics rate it above 90% on rotten tomatoes, it's usually garbage. But if it's between 65-80%, then it's usually good. I don't put any stock in the audience reviews, bc they're all over the place
why trust critics? trust clips and trailers and... your taste in movies
Why does she look astonishingly adorable whilst simultaneously looking like something from my nightmares?
Because… Martians. Martians are weird like that, as Germans are wont to. But that before we get to the swishy-wristed genetic-engineering French Venusians or imperialistic, failure-prone robot-bodied Russian Jovians. ;)
it's uncanny valley
I’d fuck that martians face.
Because they used cgi to make her face rounder & "cuter". It looks jarring and dumb now and it'll look even worse in a few years, in retrospect.

far too high up - frightening

Critics talk crap a lot of the time, they think trashing a movie makes them intellectual.....I have enjoyed many movies that did not get critical acclaim!
No. Critics trash anything that is not Disney. It is time to rip Disney apart like Standard Oil.
@@Jen-Yueh_Hu Disney makes GREAT movies. After all we have Pixar and dream works.
But the critics are the ones we should be targeting. We want great movies. Not movies that are only great to critics
Um.. no.. they give their opinion. You're an idiot if you think otherwise.
@@deatheternal720 just the same way you gave you're opinion....who is the idiot now? Jerkoff
@@deatheternal720 Yeah, but the critics do it in a professional manner. They get paid to not tell us their own opinion but evaluate a film based on their professional understanding of the industry. Stuff like that, and if a critic bashes a film heavily it can influence the success of the work to a degree.
Still, most critics are worthless idiots. I say that because in the last time they bash every movie that doesn't fit a certain spectrum. They are not doing their job correctly.
(For example, they rated the Batwoman serial as a success but the new Joker movie as a failure. See the problem?)
Definitely one of the better sci fi movies in the last while.
And this coming from someone who saw Star Wars when it first came to theatres in the 70’s
One of my favorite manga of all time right next to Akira. I was not disappointed when I saw this movie. I actually enjoyed it alot

I didn't see this movie and I'm learning about it now. There seems to be a deliberate attempt of the critics and media to push works that are based on ideological propaganda and bash the ones with an actual positive meaning
One of the best films of the decade. Who do I have to bribe to secure a couple sequels?
aside from the fact the love scenes felt so drawn out and played the overall idea of the movie was pretty dope and i personally would not mind watching a sequel. Graphics and city scenes were pretty amazing as well.
I like how they set it up. It looks like Alita just got the drop(-kick) on the first guy, then she goes up against the Razorgirl and proves she actually is a trained fighter.
Best movie of 2019, after Joker of course, but the funny thing is that I watched joker just once, but watched Alita three times!
Joker was great, but Alita - Battle Angel was the best film of 2019 easily in my book. Saw Joker 2 times and Alita 8 times.
And next year DC comes out with the Birds of Prey movie....

This movie was the Cyberpunk 2077 we were waiting for. Extremely captivating film. I couldn't believe how awesome it was when I saw it. Just epic.
And it flopped just like cyberpunk did
@@rogeliosoto6953 there was a number of reasons why it has massive acclaim but lots of people didn't see it when it was in cinemas. There was conflicting blockbuster films at the same time and the advertisement wasn't all there - however like almost all cult-following generating films- they are massively highly reviewed by those who have had the pleasure of seeing it as an under-acknowledged gem, to the wider audience that just take critics opinion or box office initial ratings as their take on a film. Your point 'and it flopped just like cyberpunk did' is a totally irrelevant comparison, and also analysis of this movie. That perspective is extremely close-minded when it comes to actually valuing a film, dude. Go watch it.
I really liked this movie. I hope theres another. Id really like to see a prequel about Alita
She is lovely, looking forward to the next chapter. ^^
This movie is extremely under rated! The CI effect were fantastic! The should be a sequel ! This movie is dope!
Fucking loved this scene where she awakens to her true powers, it just sets up what's to come really well. Great movie.
As anime live action movies go, this quickly became my favorite! It was absolutely beautiful, and I wish it had done better in the box office because I want a sequel!!!

The best film of 2019!!
"Don’t see Captain Marvel, they shriek, support a Strong Female Character in a movie that doesn’t hate white men!
This point proves all the more entertaining for those of us who actually saw Alita: Battle Angel because all of the men in that film are kind of ridiculous and stupid or just generally useless. There’s Christoph Waltz, who has never looked more bored, playing the sweet but ineffectual father figure; Mahershala Ali, the charismatic villain who has no real power of his own and sends stupid teenage boys to do all his dirty work; the Ed Skrein cyborg who is pathetically vain and gets his arse handed to him by an adolescent girl; and there’s possibly the most hopeless and mediocre male love interest committed to camera. The female characters, the few of them that there are, don’t fare much better thanks to a cliched script and adherence to very well-worn tropes, but it’s hardly a film that positions guys as the undisputed heroes.
But the men of Alita: Battle Angel aren’t why these guys are suddenly so desperate to elevate this film to new heights. Their interest lies with Alita herself, a cyborg with incomprehensibly mighty powers who also hopelessly naïve. She’s kickass but still needs a boy to teach her all about life. The Born Sexy Yesterday trope is all over the film, although it is remarkably less fetishistic than this narrative could have been. Still, there is a scene where she heals herself and suddenly grows bigger boobs, and boy does the camera want you to know that happened.
Alita: Battle Angel is nowhere near the worst example of these lazy sexist tropes. However, it is emblematic of just how common this sort of storytelling is throughout Hollywood. Even in a vastly ambitious technological marvel like this, the screenwriters can’t help but fall back on the old ways because they’re easy to implement, garner an instinctive reaction from audiences, and propel the story forward enough for the real focus of our attentions - the effects - to be placed centre stage. It’s the sort of narrative that thinks any woman who can punch a guy harder than he can punch her is empowerment, even as she literally offers her heart to a man who has been stabbing her in the back for months. It’s familiar to anyone who’s ever seen a movie, and the power dynamic is clear. She may be powerful but she’s never seen the ‘real world’ before. The first guy she bumps into who isn’t her dad can show it to her and leave her enraptured."

Rosa Salazar is gorgeous too.

I gotta say, I really liked it. I truly thought it was going to suck, but I was totally wrong. A really great movie 👍
The trailers didn't do it justice. I went in with low expectations and was *very* pleasantly surprised.
Was such a great flick,i have the manga on vhs when it first was released to be watched on vcr.
Sooo underrated
If you liked this clip, please read the manga. Both series. There's even an ongoing third one, which is also pretty awesome. And despite the critics, the whole film is just as lovely and fabulous as this clip. Yeah... sequel. That would be very nice.
Mars Chronicle has lot less action than the first two, especially Last Order. But then, Last Order was wa-a-ay too action-oriented, so it' just about right.
not really a fan of how the manga Delegitimizes its initial ending.
