Years before becoming Orthodox (or even knowing anything about it), I learned about Rila Monastery. Even though I considered myself agnostic, I was instantly drawn to this monastery and began planning to visit. I haven't yet, but Lord willing one day I will. St. John of Rila, please pray for us!
I visited Bulgaria last year and loved it. I went to Rila Monastery and it truly amazes me how our spiritual fathers manage to settle in the most remote locations of the world and build such beautiful spiritual centers in the middle of no-where, in the toughest of terrain or climate conditions.
A very beloved saint in my country indeed. My wife and I sing his troparion daily, and he is the patron of the first parish we were part of. We need his intercessions for Bulgaria badly. It's the country from the old Eastern European block that communism hit the hardest when it comes to faith. Saint Ioan, pray for us!
My favorite churches are in Bulgaria - St. Sophia, St. Petka the Saddlemaker. And kudos on the Shepherd's Tea! God bless you for bringing St John to the channel.
His Monastery is large and impressive, as are the mountains in which he lived, full of so much life! We have a myth in Bulgaria that due to his purity and diet of mostly herbs, when Ivan Rilski died his body completely dried up and the process of decomposition never occurred. I find it weird and I intriguing but it is just a myth as far as I know.
His holy and venerable relics are incorrupt due to his Holiness in Christ, not due to the fact that he was fasting, which he of course was, but the reason is that Christ dwells in Him and He in Christ
BULGARIA MENTIONED!!! GOD BLESS THIS CHANNEL!!!

Gotta love St John! I'm a Bulgarian Lutheran but his life and ministry are undeniably amazing

Слава Богу! Време беше да се разкаже за Свети Йоан.
Glory be to God! St John of Rila, intercede for us! 🇧🇬☦️❤️

The step ladder sank into the wet earth, and in time, I found myself wearing the mark of Saint Roch on my left leg. My calling, no doubt.
Brother, would you kindly make the episode about Saint Seraphim of Sarov?? Thanks a lot in advance))

Incorruptible relics are not a myth but a Christian reality. There is no natural explanation because It is a miracle.
