Of all the videos of Adele singing this song, this one is by far my favorite. Her pain is so raw and evident in her expressions and voice here. It makes the song that much more real.
What she was able to accomplish is an instant old time classic in modern times, and on a bigger scale. Like an Elvis Presley "Are you Lonesome Tonight" or Barbra Streisand "The Way We Were". Years from now, people growing up nowadays will look back at these times in their life and get very emotional listening to this song. It will affect them even more then it does now. Other songs will do the same but this one was an instant nostalgia classic on it's release.

It's amazing and a privilege to watch how Adele has matured both personally and professionally over the years. Her voice is fabulous but she's obviously anxious here when you see her clasped hands and how she scans over the heads of the audience rather than looking at them directly. Having viewed her recent performances five years later you can see such a difference in her personal confidence, her wonderful voice and how she obviously enjoys interacting with the audience. She has developed in to a very talented and generous artist who always gives credit to others who are in her life and who work with her. We rarely get the opportunity to closely watch a person, particularly a celebrity, develop in all aspects of their life but I believe it's because Adele is so open, honest and REAL that we all seem to have a great kinship with her.
