Apsolutly beautiful ! I would love to be able to do that, but I'm 63 and just learning to sail. I have a long way to go before I could chance it. I am loving the adventure of learning though. Thanks for sharing !
Thank you Rodney. I'm a year younger but had a head start in years on the water. Don't 'chance it'. Make it as safe as possible. There is no short cut for putting in the miles. Have a great time on the water. Fair winds and stay safe. ATB James
Samingo Sailing I agree with you whole heartedly. Too late in life to start taking chances like that. I will however enjoy watching your experience's 😁 Thanks so much for getting back with me and sharing your thoughts! Hope you have a great weekend!
Thank you for watching. Its as much down to attitude as anything else ... and the ability to improvise and not be surprised by anything. Fair winds and stay safe James
Hi Peter. I'll make Inverness one day! This year the weather gods sent me down channel and out in to the Atlantic. But hope to make it back to Scotland and then make Faroe and even Iceland ... one day. Very good HM's in Eyemouth and Peterhead. Billy was really marvellous in Peterhead Bay Marina. I do love Orkney and Shetland. Where are you headed next year? Fair winds and stay safe. ATB James
Great video, sailing the Northumberland coast (out of Amble) is where I sail and absolutely love it here , rarely see other boats out apart from the odd coble checking his pots . Fantastic cruising area lots of dolphins , porpoise and seals around the farnes. What yacht are you sailing ?
I could not agree more. It seems that getting up and down the coast is a chore to most yachts. I've never timed it right for Amble. I've wanted to anchor in the Kettle! I will one day! I sail a Westerly Typhoon (quite a rare Westerly). Fair winds and stay safe. James
Hi Joe. Do you mean BST British Summer Time? An hour later than GMT Greenwich Mean Time. Close to home and Northern Europe I use BST and GMT. BST in the summer months. Working in one time zone makes calculations simple. Sailing much further from home I would be using local time. Thank you for watching. James
@@samingosailing I have a jeanneau sunshine 38, however, before buying it the ideas of eating a typhoon has taken a thousand laps in my head in my head, lucky for you my feiend
@@saim7661 It was very difficult to find. I saw about 6 of the 40 built before settling on buying 'Talisker 1'. But then there was lots and lots of work. Only the mast of the original rig still exists!! Fair winds and stay safe James
Bit boring.. sorry! Lovely scenery and mildly informative, just a bit boring? Let go and show your personally?? Just a bit? For example, ‘my birthday’ I thought, here we go.. then nothing… dolphins were best part of this video. Just constructive that’s all. Good luck. 👍
Hello Philip. Thank you for watching the 'mildly informative, just a bit boring' video. It's a tricky one. There are too many sailing videos made by people who don't know what they are doing as sailors. There are also foolish videos made by sailors inspiring folk to try things way beyond their abilities. It's 420 miles to Wick from my river in Suffolk (as the crow flies) so quite a bit further, if you go by sea. Coastal sailing is harder than being offshore. You have land and traffic to contend with. 13 minutes barely touches the surface of the work and preparation that goes in to a passage of this length. I don't give opinion unless asked. I've sailed further than most but not nearly as far as some. An unremarkable passage means that it has been a safe cruise. And that is how I like it to be. So when you say 'boring' I'm quite pleased. I'm trying to show a pretty experienced sailor, who really does prepare himself and his ship properly, making the right choices and endeavouring to be safe. Did you watch a later video in this series? ua-cam.com/video/0FklU8E1EQ4/v-deo.html A more demanding bit of sailing but again sailed safely. Also some sailing in the Portuguese Trades ua-cam.com/video/DuNOEppExIE/v-deo.html and finally Azores Falmouth ua-cam.com/video/n49FQNDHviE/v-deo.html I'd value your opinion on those. So kind of you to comment. ATB James

Very nicely done.
Thank you Norman. Happy New Year.
Thumbs up!

Di quale barca si tratta? Assomiglia alla mia Orca 43...
Thank you for watching. My boat is a Westerly Typhoon. Only 40 were built. Mine was the 20th.
I enjoy your videos but am curious why you would use the biel mean time

The man likes dolphins.
It's a privilege to be visited by Dolphins sailing a boat at sea.
