The Malibu in this video is a beautiful car; the Malibu for 2013-2015 (and 2016 Malibu Limited) is a proven car that’s reliable and comfortable to drive. It’s a better looking and driving car than the Toyota Camry, and it doesn’t need a turbo engine to drive well. The 2016 to current Malibu is more streamlined, and it’s a beauty. I just wish it didn’t have a turbo engine.
The 2013 Nissan Altima gets 27city/38hwy and is a lot quicker at getting from 0 to 60 mph. (7.1 seconds) The New Altima also has a lot more trunk space due to not having that battery in the trunk like the Malibu. GM is way behind and needs to catch.
Nissan uses a different transmission, a CVT (continuously variable transmission); thus better highway fuel economy, however car guys groan about that transmission due to high revving to maximize fuel economy thus a lot of engine noise; the Chevy uses a traditional 6-speed auto. Most hybrids (mainly Toyota and Ford) uses the CVT.
Like John said no V-6 option, but there will be a 2.0L 259-hp, 260lb-ft torque turbo I-4. It'll have more hp than the new Fusion EcoBoost 2.0L I-4, but falls short of Hyundai & Kia's turbo I-4 (274 hp, 260+ lb-ft. torque).
Evan -- the 2014 Malibu Turbo now has their 2.0L Turbo engine with the much torquier engine. Thanks for the update. (Has the same engine as the Buick Regal)
Why must gm use ugly light green to light up the buttons, dash lights etc? It looks old and dated. My dads 1999 oldmobile intrigue had this. Hated it then and hate it now
The Malibu engines should be: (Start/Stop) A 1.1L Twin Turbo I3 iVLC with 176HP and 220TQ. 27 mpg City / 38 mpg Hwy A 2.5L I4 iVLC eAssist with 202HP and 191TQ. 29 mpg City / 44 mpg Hwy A 2.0L Turbo I4 iVLC with 259HP and 295TQ. 22 mpg City / 32 mpg Hwy A 2.8L Turbo V6 VVT and AFM with 345HP and 360TQ. 20 mpg City / 27 mpg Hwy A Hybrid Plug In/2-Mode Transmission/Regen. Braking/Start-Stop 2.2L Turbo Diesel I4 173HP/296TQ. 38 mpg City / 49 mpg Hwy and 65 mpg City / 77 mpg Hwy for up to 20 miles
Chevrolet is generally not overpriced, but they do get a tad pricey when adding a lot of options. Chevrolet also has a problem about the trim levels, some things are only available on the LTZ trims rather than 2LT or 3LT! Chevrolet should make the price of this car $21,116! I remember buying my 2000 and 2001 Grand Prix's (00 GT sedan & 01 GTP Special Edition Coupe) those topped out at $28K! Now the average price of a car in $35K! My Grand Prix's still have less than 35K miles and are awesome!!!!
Taking away a car's best engine works only when it results in an empirically better car. Taking it away for the sake of taking it away does not. Am i the only one who thinks this car needs to use the 3.6L V6 again? I just think a turbo-4 hasn't been proven to be enough of a improvement over a V6 in fuel mileage to justify it as a substitute.
The most efficient non hybrid new Fusion gets the same MPG while the new non hybrid Altima gets best in class city/hwy rating at 27/38... Chevy is behind the curve
The 2013 Accord is MUCH MUCH improved, in fact HONDA only started improving after the 2012 Civic "scandal" in North America. I was a HUGE fan of Honda in the 1990's, loved the PRELUDE!!! I grew disillusioned after hearing of my friend's 2009 Civic coupe's problems... that said, Honda has mostly redeemed itself in 2013!!!
Still is a really boring car when comparing to the 2012 Hyundai and 2013 Ford Fusion as hybrids/non-hybrids go. I'm sure someone's Grandmother will still buy it though...
You're NOT the only one who discovered FAULTS with Honda products!!! So many of my friends and work colleagues have bought CIVICS and ACCORDS and now kick their own ass they didn't buy a Nissan Altima or Malibu!!

I would own a Malibu in this body style without hesitation.
me neither, its not a bad looking car but not as good as any of the others! the styling of new cars has gotten sooo much better!
Active grille shutters? Doesn't sound like a very good feature.
ikr
I agree

looks like every other sedan chevy makes

Its a nice car, but the '13 Fusion looks to be a game changer.
new malibu and 2013 fusion the best looking sedans right now

The Malibu engines should be: (Start/Stop)
A 1.1L Twin Turbo I3 iVLC with 176HP and 220TQ. 27 mpg City / 38 mpg Hwy
A 2.5L I4 iVLC eAssist with 202HP and 191TQ. 29 mpg City / 44 mpg Hwy
A 2.0L Turbo I4 iVLC with 259HP and 295TQ. 22 mpg City / 32 mpg Hwy
A 2.8L Turbo V6 VVT and AFM with 345HP and 360TQ. 20 mpg City / 27 mpg Hwy
A Hybrid Plug In/2-Mode Transmission/Regen. Braking/Start-Stop 2.2L Turbo Diesel I4 173HP/296TQ. 38 mpg City / 49 mpg Hwy and 65 mpg City / 77 mpg Hwy for up to 20 miles

Good choice for American families.
lol
American cars in general have always had to play catch up with the Japanese and Germans

thats a nice much more improved than the 2012
you are correct!
gtp grand prix coupe, excellent taste sir
I think last generation looked better....
nice car
Actually it has 259HP and 295FT-LBS of TQ!
you obviously havent seen the accord
honda a few of them got cheap - reliable yes
Its too expensive, gets the same fuel economy as non hybrid competitors, and it has the dame amount of interior room as a civic!
Yep another overpriced chevy. Its a domestic it should be cheaper. $25k tops fully loaded.
Wouldn't buy it
Hondas accord Ex and above has a TERRIBLE CVT transmission.
that e-assist is pretty dumb if you ask me. A non-hybrid 2013 Nissan Altima is rated better as far as MPG. fail on GM's part.
looks like a buick lacorsse. actually i think the buick looks better cause its more shaped. this malibu looks like a blob
Possibly the ugliest car I've ever seen.
mew fusion is way sexier
Oh, but I have! Mwuahahaha
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA good one!
