    As a fellow owner of this machine, this machine is worth the price tag which is already low. Expect it to rise as this has gone up in popularity quite a bit over the last year. Buy now if you’re interested in this. I love reverse banding it with the counterweight, feels perfect on my knees.

    Good comprehensive and thoughtful review of the Fettle Fitness pendulum squat. It's a definite plus that you don't have to load massive amounts of weight,when it's a plate loaded machine, as that gets old in a hurry. Good work on planning out your wife's safe usage of the pendulum machine after her hip surgery.👍

    Thanks for the review. Looks like the distance from the pivot point of the lever arm to the backrest is about 60". I can attach two metal rack uprights to the wall with a pivot pin to act as the lever arm for a pendulum squat. I have a Titan Space Saving rack with uprights 24" from the wall. I can add plate storage horn to the existing upright as a low safety. Can use a removable pin for the high safety. I will attach a plywood foot plate to the wall at a 42 degree angle. I'll make a backrest that sits between the two lever arms that pivots down into position when I pull off the wall. Whole thing can fold back almost flat against the wall when not in use and take almost no floor space. I think I can get pretty close to this Pendulum Squat machine for about $300. Helps to see you use the machine to estimate the length of the arm and distance to to foot plate.

    My gym has this machine, I would move that depth stopper in the back. This machine is amazing for getting a forced ATG whilst being very light at the bottom. You'll be getting additional stretching in your quads as well building stronger knees, just avoid bouncing on the calfs and you'll be building a beautiful squat.

    You should reach out to Bolt Fitness to do a video comparing Fettle Fitness pans Bolt Fitness pendulum squats. Similar footprint and price point.
    Bolt Fitness pendulum squat is slightly smaller and has built in plate storage. It has larger footplate with steeper angle. It’s also heavier and looks a little more sturdy/stable due to support beams.
    Fettle Fitness pendulum squat is a little longer. It also has a counterweight to adjust the resistance curve. But doesn’t have built in plate storage. And looks less sturdy/stable (overall lighter and also lacks support beams).

    • @HomeGymHacksandReviews
      @HomeGymHacksandReviews  11 місяців тому +1

      The Bolt certainly looks good. With shipping, it’s about 200 more expensive and it looks like the Fettle has a 500 pound greater weight capacity. Also, with the shorter lever arm on the Bolt, it likely requires more weight for the same “feel.”

    Loved your detailed review- great job; we're all lucky you do this. Q: Which is a more of an overall hip/quad workout- the Powertec CLS or this? I also much prefer a machine with an efficient strength profile that's harder at leg/hip contraction over one where the weight resistance stays the same top to bottom of movement. Of course pressuring the legs and hips more and lower back less is always a major consideration. PS: I already own a True Squat and a Champion Safe Squat (the original "Project X" hip belt squat machine, and I love barbell squats but cannot do them anymore to failure due to damage issues with my low back giving out before my hips/quads.

    • @HomeGymHacksandReviews
      @HomeGymHacksandReviews  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks so much! The Pendulum is more or a quad builder.
      The CLS is more versatile with calf raises, single leg presses and a greater variety of foot positions.
      Both machines benefit from a band so the top of the rep is more difficult.
      There is minimal spinal loading with the Pendulum but it may be a bit harder on the knees because of the forward pressure applied.
      The CLS is 1/2 the price and takes up 1/2 the space.
      Good news, you can’t really go wrong with either.

    Great reviews. You must make a boatload of money to have a garage gym stocked with equipment where each piece is over $1500. Thank you. I don’t. To get the equipment I have, I am constantly selling and upgrading. This gym started with mostly Titan equipment. To get my first Levergym, I had to sell almost everything I owned.
      I definitely see what you’re saying about some of these big ticket items. However, I am not suggesting someone fill their entire gym with Fettle equipment; rather, I hope reviews like this are helpful if there are those 1-2 machines people really miss from the commercial gym and now they really want it in their home gym. Also, quite a few people who have small PT studios watch these reviews before purchasing equipment for their gym.
      Since this video, my gym has changed tremendously.

    This is enticing... i just can't help but notice how narrow the footplate is though. Per their website its only 23.5" wide. So... close/standard (for some) stance is pretty much your only option. 23.5" being the max you can get the outside of your feet to is slightly narrower than my normal squat stance... slightly. Not a deal breaker... just locked in to pretty much one stance width. Going any narrower ill have to adjust my boys before hoping on to avoid crushing them, haha. 23.5" is pretty much shoulder width for me.
    Definitely still intrigued... because while that plate width is definitely a con for me.... it's also a pro as this thing is listed at only 36" wide overall. Meaning more room for more stuff in my garage. Which..... i think balances it out.

      Thank you! The Lever Squat could be modified with a back rest, but the difference is going to be in the length of the lever arm. If you increased the length of the lever arm on the lever squat, you wouldn’t be able to lock and unlock the arm because it would be out of reach from the upright and the machine is not designed to have the resistance that far from the base of support. I think The Lever Squat is solid on its own…if I were to do anything, it would just be add a back rest.
