Hello Chris, do not worry about differences in engine sound whatsoever. The block is a sturdy, reliable 350 ci Detroit Iron that, when taken care of, runs and runs.... It is always wise to add cleaning fluids to the gasoline to clean the engine from inside. Love your videos.
A nice 20 minute drive on the highway and an oil change will clear everything out. Don't forget to replace the PCV valve. Great job Chris!
Isn't that what they call an "Italian tune up?" People would bring their expensive sports cars to a shop complaining of rough engine issues or such and the mechanic would just take the car out for a hard run somewhere and bam, back to running well. Probably a good idea for anyone who owns a C4 to get it going hard once in a while, where it permits, and not just slowly weekend drive it around town.
@@Swarm509 - Are you saying the Italian people are slackers and dishonest by inferring they would defraud the public. Or, are you saying they are incompetent? I think you heard this same inflammatory statement from the guy from 'vice grip garage', he's obviously a bigot and you are too, for stating such a repugnant obstinately attached to an opinion, or faction, especially one who is prejudiced against and antagonistic toward a people, namely the Italian people. You best study your history pal, the Italians are some of the best in all trades, and have been throughout history.
As far as I remember that actually HAS to be done when using seafoam. I dont get it why he used it when the car was not able to drive on its own... no wonder it did not work as good as it could have!
Now everyone seeing this video thinks that it makes no difference... Sadly...
!! After hot soak, start and drive the vehicle under engine load for 10 minutes or longer. Apply spirited acceleration when safe to burn off hydrocarbon residues. !! @@Swarm509
As far as I remember you have not done all the steps!
!! After hot soak, start and drive the vehicle under engine load for 10 minutes or longer. Apply spirited acceleration when safe to burn off hydrocarbon residues. !!
Because you have not done that you have no big difference. Its all still there and now caked on again.
My MK2 Golf had a huge difference both in pulling power and quieter operation after closely following the directions on the bottle.
Greetings from Germany!
Seafoam definitely works as advertised but kerosene does the same thing. Many think seafoam is just kerosene.
Chris, I used sea foam in my Wrangler and it did such a good job breaking up carbon the first time it actually fouled one of my plugs. So it’s good you’re going to change them anyway. Many folks run an old set of plugs for the sea foam process due to this.
That’s a good idea!
I can’t wait to have a l98 c4 of my own
Hi Chris, thanks for your videos, they are really useful. I have a '01 C5 Corvette in Russia.
I think the engine noise is coming from the accessory drive. My 92 made the same noise. I sprayed some belt dressing on the belt, pulleys, idler and tensioner. If that doesn't make a difference then a bearing is often the source of the sound. Holding a long screwdriver on the alternator etc and putting your ear on the handle will help identify the noise.
When i reverse after a cold start and i let the car warm up i hear like a squealing noise, could it be the belt?
@@alexl9334 Its a small child screaming that you ran over them......
yes. @@alexl9334
Oh ya I use that stuff all the time 2 times a year in my vet , clean the PVC and catch a can out , good stuff it do works Thanks Chris
Nice new shirt too 😊
Great video Chris and very informative....I'm now a believer in Seafoam.
Dont skip the last step tho!
From the Seafoam Manual:

I had plenty of run issues with my 88, car would stall 2 or 3 times every day. I treated the fuel with seafoam. 3 oz per gallon. No more stalling for a year now.
Great information Chris, thanks. Hope you and your family has a Merry Christmas.
The car DEFINITELY has some rumble now. Not sure why, but I did notice that new bass tone. Looking forward to the follow-up.
A long time mechanic told me that SeaFoam was developed for 2 stroke engines and does little to help our C4 cars. He suggested Techron, and I’m telling you it made a huge difference in mine. Whenever I hear the engine starting to miss a little, I add a bottle.
ua-cam.com/video/agAWXnT4-EQ/v-deo.html
Then your mechanic was very wrong.
"Cleans & lubricates critical upper engine areas where fuel cleaners can’t reach
Cleans intake valves & chamber deposits
Safe in all types of 2 & 4 stroke gasoline engines
Apply through gas fuel-injection throttle body or carburetor throat
Important for modern Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engines
Lubricates throttle plates, bushings & upper cylinders
Use to fog & protect intake & cylinder areas during storage"
@@alfderbabybenz7092 that is just what the maker put on the can, of course they would put that
and... of course then it works. had great success quieting down my mk2 golf and making actually 5 hp more on the dyno the same day same conditions. Feels more lively especially down low and consumes less fuel.
Helped a buddy with his MR2 to do it and he also was very happy.
Just watch the video of project farm on it. He is, to me, the most trustworthy source when it comes to testing stuff like that on youtube, not your mechanic all those years ago. @@monroebass2
works Great actually
Great video and I love the shirt! Definitely the coolest design I’ve seen for the C4
You really need to tackle the BROWN valve covers soon, they are freaking me out.
🤣
Great video on products, will certainly try these out for my C4 1987 Vette 😎👍🏾💯🔥
I recognize that noise. I believe it's the smog pump.
Chris, love the show bro and good luck with the C4. I agree with Seafoam in the throttle body and crank case is awesome but give Berrymans a try for the gas tank. It's so much better at breaking down deposits especially over long storage.Merry Christmas from Texas
The Italian Tune up lol. Vice grip garage

We used a product from BG at the Ford dealer. Pretty much the same method, but We would drive the car after the 15 min. When the engine got up to temp, STEP ON IT! Burn out the cleaner, and makes a big smoke show!
I use it my cars, diesel Rv and boat...great product...IMHO...nice video 👍🏻
I just got a 91 TPI with 24k original miles runs and drives fine do you think I should mess with the transmission? Drain replacement filter?
11/10 would buy the retro print on a crew neck or pull-over hoodie.
lol. Great vocal sound effects. I've used seafoam before and had good results. Reminds me its about time to do it again.
Chris, great job with the videos! I just bought an 86 convertible for a project car. It starts and runs, but stalls and doesn’t want to stay running. I bought some sea foam but haven’t put it in the tank yet. I also bought some for the oil and throttle body cleaning. I have no idea how old the fuel in the tank is or how much water may be in it. Do you recommend starting with the sea foam? My thoughts are leaning towards draining the fuel tank and filling it fresh before even adding the sea foam. That’s obviously a whole lot more work though. Any suggestions?
I'd recommend draining the fuel from the tank. The way I did it on my 90 Corvette was disconnecting the fuel line from the fuel filter (Replace the fuel filter while your at it). It won't drain all of it unless you could manage to run the fuel pump while the fuel line is disconnected. You could also try removing the fuel pump (should not take more than 15-20 minutes) and clean up the tank. IMPORTANT: Check the gasket of the Gas Cap. If it seems old and dry, it probably allowed water into the gas tank. Replace it as soon as possible. (I know this from personal experience, it can lead to rusty fuel pump assembly, which leads to clogged fuel injectors.)
@@oscarlosguzmanalvarez2721 Thanks for the help, I’ll do that!
@@Skizzags1974 No problem and good luck on your Corvette.
Hello Chris, nice video I swear by seafood myself, but my C4 has been sitting for better part of 3mos give or take and it had a dead battery plus completely empty on fuel, I just bought a new battery and put 10gal of fuel and it won't idle, I can get it to start briefly with starting fluid but when I go to give it a little gas it dies out and then won't start back up, what do you think it is?
Did you do the sea foam treatment on the C5? Would like to see a video on that!
Hello,
Can you chose one of the methods or do you have to do all 3?
I like your vette. Also what is that lift you are using? It looks perfect for a home c4 lift and I wouldn’t mind looking into one for mine! 🙂
QuickJack
I did a similar oil treatment on a 1977 pontiac, it somehow screwed the lifters became so noisy i had to change all the lifters
Are you going to do another video of the results; any differences, opinions etc.?
Stay tuned
what a coincidence Chris I've seen some of the testing he's done as well, pretty revealing by the way the t-shirts came out awesome!
Great video I have a 86 that iam going to seafoam it this weekend.
Did you get any clouds of smoke from the seafoam? . Project farm has a nice cloud going. (I used it twice on my turbo Subaru and no smoke. I was kinda disappointed about the lack of smoke . But my gas mileage when up after the treatment)
Not a huge cloud like some others I have seen.
Is there supposed to be air pressure in the fuel tank when I take my cap off pressure blows out
I've been conflicted about putting sea foam in my 88 vette I've used it on my atv's but I read a lot of mixed reviews
Love the channel man
Thank you 🙏🏻
should i do this before my next oil change
Yes
I would do an oil flush / then change the oil using maybe a semi-synthic oil... because of the age of the car... I would also replace the oil filter with a high quality oil... run it for a couple 100 miles... and then change it again.. Keep the Sea Foam topped off!!! Use Chevron Techtron two cans!!! Changes the transmission and rear axel..... flush the brakes!!!
Welcome to the channel. I have videos showing almost everything you mentioned.
you with-held the final change oil, and "run test " ! Why did you omit that for ?
Hey can I just order a XL tee with a large MY CORVETTE LIFE logo on the back??
? Are you changing the filter and oil like NOW! And see how dirty or how much dirt you get out!
Yep
@@mycorvettelife do a update on the crap content in the oil
What jack and or floor lift do you use?
QuickJack
@@mycorvettelife do you remember which model you bought? Looking to get one for my 88’.
When you change your transmission filter, make sure to get the GM filter. They do have it at Rock Auto, it's the more expensive AC Delco filter. As that version is made in the USA. If you get the cheaper AC Delco filter or some other filter, then it's probably made in China.
Yep, already did. That video will be posted soon.
2002 C5 why does my AC light come on when using my heater
How do you like that lift your using I’ve been looking at them
Been using it for 2 years now almost daily. It’s great.
Maybe you could run one of those mechanics cameras down in through the spark plug holes when you change the plugs that might be interesting. Although having a before-and-after would have been really cool. Just a thought
My engine oil must be pretty clean because no white smoke which I'm assuming is burnt carbon?
SeaFoam is oil based, so if you are spraying it into the combustion chamber the car will smoke.
@@mycorvettelife oh haha i put it in the gas tank and took it for a drive and then filled up today
you should have shown us the exhaust smoke after wort. so we could see .
....I did....
How long do you leave the sea foam in the oil?
I would suggest no more than 300 miles.
Is this the same product as Marvel Mystery Oil?
No
Change the Spark Plugs!!!
Keep watching…
I'm sorry I don't see how or where to order a t-shirt
Like is in the video description.
Des pues de muchos años me compré mi corvette 1984 me gusta pero tengo que meterle algo de dinero estoy contento con mi carro
This is one thing that I'll have to disagree with you on. I've tried Seafoam 3 times on 3 separate cars and each time ended up having to replace the injectors.
Did you replace the fuel filter first? Most likely the Sea Foam is doing its job and contaminants are being dislodged in the tank and going through the system. This is why I did the Sea Foam first before any other maintenance.
I’ve also heard of people having A lot of problems using sea foam. Some things are better just left alone.
It sounds a little stronger
T-shirt site not working. error codes
Looks like Teespring is having technical difficulties.....check back in a bit.
@@mycorvettelife tried both ways no luck
Looks like it’s working now.
I wonder if you can
Put it into transmission
Nooooo
No
Do not.
BG 44 Platinum in my opinion is far superior to Seafoam
Where’s the “spirited drive”? Lol
Without a before/after video of the valves & combustion chambers there is no way to tell this stuff cleans anything. The fact that it smokes out of the exhaust doesn’t mean it’s cleaning anything, it just means it’s burning something else besides gasoline. With good maintenance you don’t need any additives.
I can find a dozen other videos that show those things with results.
I've seen videos where guys do a scope of the cylinders before and after. It absolutely works.
But if you buy a used car with miles you have no clue the maintenance that was done beforehand.
seems alot noisier after warming up and about the same after the sea foam treatment.
SEAFOAM IS MADE FOR BOAT ENGINES AND DOES NOT WORK VERY WELL WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLES!!!!!
This is false. An engine is an engine.
It's an engine, the same as a boat. If it's such a travesty then how come they sell it and not have a huge class action lawsuits?
@@pinnaclecooking2384 it has something to do with the cleaning agents, see my post on Techron.
It doesn’t tighten your lifters Automatically
