It's impressive that they held a family business for three generations so successfully. They really stuck to their vision and quality of their products.
Was thinking the same thing. But, you can notice they stayed up with the times and modernized the factory without impacting the essence of their traditional production methods.
A few years ago James Martin did a show where drove around in a Citroen 2CV around France and did regional recipes like hero Floyd. He went to this exact same factory and the guy demonstrated to him the mortar and pestle method he does in the video, then of course James makes a mustard ingredient dish outside the factory. Love it
@@whatever990 look at the size of businesses these days. I agree that 2000 tons sounds like a lot, but, I worked for a small, family business that handled more product than that.

Funny because I buy Mailles Dijon mustard since years but I always thought it would be consider a cheap/low-quality product in 🇫🇷 ! I just recently realized lots of French use it ! Cheers from San Diego California
Mailles is not a high end product but it's not bad either (you can find much much worse). It makes for a good mustard to use daily. We buy better mustards such as this one when we want to celebrate something for example.
@@Ealwyen i do confirm ; Maille is the every day mustard that is on our tables "tous les jours". You can find it everywhere in the supermarkets here. The Fallot is the rolls one & it's very good.
On our way back from Southern France we made a stop in Beaune to spend the night & buy some musterd there! They have plenty of tasty types of musterd. Worth a visit.
there might be a Dijon mustard shortage, but I've never been worried with you people there. I'll pick up a jar of the years new mustard when I go out. sounds like a good combo, and I hadn't noticed it (too many options, I have a provenzal mustard though, but I dont know what to do with the cassis one...) This is fantastic, I have to see if I can find some of that smoked paprika variety in Switzerland... Question, the sauce at the end, is it a cold sauce? Was it at all heated up? Cheers!
Nonetheless, due to industrials and commercials, WE are facing a harsh sortage in some french areas ... Prices skyrocketed and i've Heard of a mustard black marker one or two months ago. I think the situation is not that desperate... But still, why do we face such shortage, whereas our neighbours, like Belgium, don't ?
plumber here...i've used one of those green buckets for years! they are the perfect size to get under a toilet supply line. I can't remember where it came from or what it had in it originally...i guess mustard!
Lol, and now we have no mustard sold in supermarkets in France. We should have listened to them and protected our cultural heritage earlier. It's the end of abundance. 😭😭😭
The music is really fighting with the gentleman's speech at the beginning... not a good music choice for this video. The next track is also unsuitable, the guitar is clashing with the speech...
So sad when the owner can't let himself go from being everywhere and have the employees talk... its always him talking from start to finish. He's clearly very passionate but why not share some of the limelight with the people actually making mustard every day?

Eh, I don't know how impressive it is. Rare but eventually they will have to expand or be eaten up. There are only winners or losers in the market.
Never thought a video based purely on mustard production would make my mouth water so much.

This is by far the best mustard I’ve ever had. It’s not even kind of close. The walnut one they make is absolutely amazing when cooking a prime rib.
Wow walnut mustard sounds amazing. Will have to try
I'm happy to see that small, family owned firms are still in business.
Did you really just say "small"

I love this mustard. Always buy it when i can in NZ. It's better than Maille.
Good to know.
Maille mustard is made out of Canadian mustard seeds.
Big dijon fan! Cool so see some of the process
I love this stuff so much 💕 Thank you France, greetings from your neighbor Germany 😊
Still my favourite. Have to thank my grandmother for it. White bread, headcheese and dijon mustard...
I feel like if you replace head cheese with roast beef you are on to something
I trust this guy 100%, I want to try his products ASAP!
I would love to try the balsamic and honey one, that sounds really good.
oh man yes the flavors just sound like they work super well. I wish i can taste it.
I want all
I know, right?!
I live in France and have tried all of their products. they're all superb, my favorite brand by far.
you should, it's my favourite !

Ironically we haven’t had any to buy b/c of supply chain issues in France for MONTHS. It’s all been exported to the larger US market I suppose.
I heard they are just storing it ... No supply issues in Spain apparently.
My favorite mustard Dijon
Oh man I killed tons of Burgundians in Age of Empires... and now I feel bad

DJ Mustard approves the video
Im more interested in the story that chef has to tell, he seems like quite the character. Could you do a feature on him?
Need to go and buy some of that mustard today 😅

Is yellow mustard used in Dijon mustard
Dijon mustard????? You mean mcdonalds is made of that and different rocks?!?@>@ this whole time.

"Burgundy mustard must be made exclusively here" video then cuts to Dijon mustard made in Burgundy....
Well, Dijon was the capital city of Burgundy Duchy and sits in the current Bourgogne/Franche Comté region
I dont understand. Dijon is the capital of Burgundy, where is the problem ?
Why do you need the feel to have background music while people are talking ? imo it adds nothing
Does this mean that Grey Poupon isn't the real deal? I'm devastated.
Where's Dan?
