    Not going on vacations is the thing that really surprises me. You're missing out. Travel is not stressful unless you make it that way. The main reason we live a simpler life is for the sake of experiences over things. I'm telling you, your family is missing out by not traveling. Your trips don't need to be planned out so much like you were talking about. Just go, have fun, see new things, take it all in. We have 4 kids and often have others with us as well. If taking your kids on vacation stresses you then it's because they aren't acclimated to it. Start with smaller trips & get them used to it. Teach them how to behave on trips. Pack light. You can spend much less than you're thinking to have a great trip. After just a few times your kids will be no problem and they'll look forward to it. Teach them the ride is part of the fun, not just a bunch of stress before you get where you're going. You'll thank yourself for all the memories you made with them when they are grown and all the things you were able to see together. It actually makes me sad to hear you don't travel. We have these little family conversation cards we like to use when we are traveling. They make it so interesting. You should look them up and give it a try!

      I actually think that now our kids are all good ages to travel and really appreciate experiences. This year might be a good one to do a family vacation, even if it is close by. We have done mini vacations before - just not the big popular spots like Disney and Orlando studios. Also - we took two very BIG international trips to China when we adopted our daughters! ❤️

    I also cut everyone’s hair. Hubby is happier with me cutting his hair than any hairdressers out there, not to mention it costs so much to get a hair cut these days in my city!

      I love that I can get all the haircuts done in just an hour or two rather than try to get appointments set up!

    I just cancelled Prime again this month. I did an Amazon fast a few years back, and it was a wonderful reset on my spending because I don't like going to stores either. I was just planning to do a months this time, and then found out that there is a free shipping over 25 or 35 dollars on most of the stuff that qualifies for prime..... I messaged the kids and said it will probably be way longer than a few months. Lol.

      Ha ha! Going to stores is no fun at all! Especially right now with the prices 😩

    Love this! Very inspiring! Thank you for sharing. I have been working on my “things I will not buy in 2022” list as well as some guidelines on delaying purchases to evaluate whether I really need the things I am considering. God bless and thank you for the great content!

    We have many similar belief, but we love to travel.
    I am not much of a planner so we usually get in the car and go. Figuring out things on the way. :)

      Maybe someday we will try that. Would definitely feel less stressful than trying to get everything planned ahead of time!

    Wonderful video!!
    I admire your choices and wish I had started being a minimalist years ago.
    I am happy that I have made progress with minimalism in the past few years but so much farther to go!!
    This video has given me so many ideas and motivation. Thank you for your clear presentation and excellent example.

    I buy things in bulk simply because I save in the end when it’s something like toilet paper or cleaning supplies (I get the bulk package of say 6 or 8 bottles off of Amazon, which does have its drawbacks but I can also say…during that great tp shortage…I sure appreciated that I had not that far before purchased my bulk pack of 60 recycled ecological Tp! That and my cleaning supplies…) I’m trying to be more mindful about other things too, but for me and saving money, I kind of have to do bulk when there are sales. But the big question is always: do I actually need this item.

      @ArrowHillCottage  Рік тому

      Oh yes I’m sure you were thankful to have that stash of TP during that time!!! ❤️

      I’m sorry to hear that Kim! I imagine that if my husband or I had health issues- those concerns would take absolute priority. And, a simplified life would take away a lot of stress from the situation.

      If I need something like that I purchase it. I just don’t keep that type of item on hand. I only keep simple thread and needles available for minor mending.
