    love your videos. very informative. i have a 2005 Seadoo sportster le di with the 951 and it has a charging issue. i "think" the only thing left is the stator to be tested/replaced. Suggestions? Can it be replaced without pulling it out of the boat? Thanks in advance for your help

    • @SeadooRefurb
      @SeadooRefurb  4 місяці тому

      Did you check the rectifier ? Un plug it and see if you get high voltage at the battery. It could be just a bad recitfier or bad battery. There is also a fuse for the charging. See if that is good as well. If all that is bad then changing the stator can be a challenge. You need to remove the exhaust to get to the front of the motor to remove the stator cover. Oil lines and cables will be your challenge.

    Your videos are great! Any suggestion on how to clean the engine bay? Can I just pressure wash everything or do I need to block off some areas such as the air intakes for the carbs?
    I just picked up a 2001 Sportster SE that needs work. Mostly cosmetic and hopefully the engine will start with out too much effort (currently locked up for some reason). Your videos will be a lot of help!!

      I cover any open ports. (for example if the plastic air box is off the carbs) and then I just pressure wash everything . It works amazingly well. (spray nine works wonders as well)

      @@SeadooRefurb Thanks for the quick response! I took the pump off yesterday and removed the spark plugs to see if I could turn the engine, but the shaft won't turn. I tried forcing the pistons down through the sparkplug holes - nothing. So I am guessing that the engine is ceased and I need to pull it. 6:35 I deleted both oil pumps on my 05 Ultra 150 & 98 SPX 787 for that reason right there. Those oil pumps are garbage. Those oil lines fall off so easily with these 2 stroke personal watercraft/jet boat engines. Running premix will save you a lot of headaches in the future. Sucks that yours was an error made by a mechanic, but those pumps are bound to fail anyways.

    • @SeadooRefurb
      @SeadooRefurb  2 роки тому

      Yes ..Pre mix is a 100% security that you are getting the right amount of oil. Having said that...I have never had even 1 bad oil pump. All the failures we do to people not doing a correct assembly of parts.

    What are some common reasons a 2003 Seadoo Sportster LE DI wont turn over when starting? The boat will crank but not turn over. The boat has sat for 2 years with no fuel in the tank. Battery has been replaced about a month ago and about a gallon of fuel was added to the tank. What should I look for to get the boat to turn over?

    • @SeadooRefurb
      @SeadooRefurb  Рік тому

      I am unclear on crank and turn over. to me..they are both the same thing. if you mean the engine is turning but not starting then you need to start with the basics. check compression. check for spark . if both are good then dribble a small amount of fuel in each cylinder and see if it fires up.

      Just remember where all the parts go when you disassemble the carbs. :) Check to be sure you don't have the old grey fuel lines . Change fuel filter. I like to use carb cleaner in the ultrasonic and not just warm water . That's about all I can think of

    • @mikemcevenue2203

      Thank you. Looks like all the fuel lines are crimped and not with regular hose clamps. It's a hard reach from the edge of the boat, working blind as it's hard to find the main fuel line to initially remove. Where is that hose? Fwd or aft end? I was wondering about the throttle cable separation. Didn't want to change, just to remove to release the cable from the controller wheel under the carbs. Also is an oil pump line connected to this assembly.... someone on another video mentioned it, but I don't think it relates to the assembly
      Thanks for taking time to respond to me., greatly appreciated

      Found the fuel line. Has a clamp👍and it's black👍👍. One last question before I begin. The cable that is on top across the 2 carburator air inlet (dish flaps)not sure at the moment the name that controls the rotation at the same time. Is there a trick to maintain the position of the secured clocking position of these disks. I'm wondering if I loosen the Allen nuts on the 2 places to disconnect the cables I won't know how to restore it to the correct position....or does accuracy matter?…......or Just need to retain sufficient tension on the cable?
      Thanks

    🤔Are torque wrenches not necessary in Sea Doo repairs? I missed where you checked piston height or checked the compression let alone the carburetor flow. I know everyone has their own way of doing things but Dude… this video jacked with my mechanical OCD on so many levels.

    • @SeadooRefurb
      @SeadooRefurb  Рік тому

      Hmm. Every bolt was torqued..Loctite on everything. Compression bench checked and is still 150 per side as of today. I did not check piston height nor did I check carb flow. I am not building racing engines . (squish check) Totally unnecessary for my needs. I use the standard #5 base gasket, standard pistons and never machine the heads. (I will buy a good used head vs having is shaved). Hopefully that puts your mind at ease.
