Definitely need new jugs and pistons. Depending on how the heads are after a full inspection, it may cost more to get them rebuilt vs a new set of heads. The more you do the more you learn, keep up the good work.
Thanks Sir! Good thing it came with those jugs and pistons. It’s funny you said it might be cheaper to get new ones. Based on the pricing I have seen I think I might be going that route.
Hey man...at this point, you might as well split the case. To have come this far and not split the case is not a lot of extra time and you have the opportunity to clean the internals and not just guess that they are good. A little bit of sand or metal shavings inside will eventually find it's way to the oil passages and the bearings will be destroyed in no time. Split the case, clean everything like a maniac, clean some more, clean it again, measure crank and rods and inspect bearings. After that, make your decision based on your findings and your budget so you can be 100% sure you don't need anything else before JUST spending money on P&Cs. Just my suggestion tho 😎
Before you split the case you need to measure the crank end play. If it excessive then the block needs to be machined. There are you tube videos. Go to harbor freight and buy the tools.
You didn’t mark the jugs to put them back with the correct pistons. You didn’t mark the push rods to put back in there spot. Now the motor. The inside of the motor has been exporting the dust and contamination. The Louver piece on the top of the motor has let dirt in. The bearing have dirt in them I guarantee. You need to take the motor apart and clean it. You need to check you end play. I bet the thrust bearing is worn out….
If I am putting in brand new jugs and pistons do I still need to mark the old ones? I was also going to buy new push rods and probably new heads as well. It looks very clean in there. I really don’t want to break the case open, is there another way to double check and clean it out? Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. I could put in a diff cam and maybe build it some at that point. Really want to stay away from machine work if possible.

Ok thanks! Going to look at videos and read about it now. I will make sure to do.
Forget I said anything. Just do you.
I honestly was just wondering. I am learning and appreciate feedback.
