  • This was so epic. 🤩🤩
    I had the opportunity to virtually sit down with THE Dr. Howard Schubiner. The mind-body legend himself, and author of "Unlearn Your Pain."
    Dr. Schubiner's work has not only influenced the medical community but has also made a profound impact on my own journey and understanding of Mind-Body Syndrome (TMS).
    This interview dives into the underlying root causes of pelvic and urinary issues, exploring the depths of Dr. Schubiner’s knowledge of mind-body medicine.
    Join us in exploring the world of mind-body medicine:
    01:24 Meet Dr. Schubiner
    02:02 What’s Mind Body Syndrome??
    05:17 Does a previous injury (such as in the hip or hamstring) have the ability to create chronic pelvic pain?
    10:53 I had a great childhood, why am I dealing with these chronic health issues now?
    12:38 What is the mind-body cause of overactive bladder? Why are they peeing so much?
    18:18 What do you tell the patients who have seemingly done everything right…yet they still have symptoms?
    23:29 What are the common threads that in patients that go symptom-free?
    25:45 Why does resistance to healing or heavy commitment to healing keep you from healing?
    28:51 Dr. Schubiner’s non-negotiables for living a healthy life
    Whether you are dealing with these issues personally or have an interest in mind-body medicine, I believe you will find value in our discussion.
    A special thank you to Dr. Howard Schubiner for not only sharing his time but for the entirety of his impactful work. It was an absolute honor 🙏🏻✨

    Hi, Michael! It is so insanely cool that you got to chat with him.
    I actually started reading his book soon after I enrolled at Transform - and I've been doing both for nearly a month now (I'm taking my time with the book to spread it into the 4 weeks it recommends). 'Unlearn your pain' is an absolutely illuminating read and companion to your program.
    I definitely agree with what he says at 12:12 - as an anxious person, I believe a lot of the vicious cycle of pain stems from the feeling of worrying too much about it. A key thing for me has been to practice feeling less reactive to these sensations and, while it's not easy, it really is a game changer!
    Thanks for the interview! - and love the rap! 🤩

      Hi there, that is a healthy meal to eat. Of course, every body is different. Food does not affect the pelvic floor as much as you might think; the brain is turning on or off the alarm signal of pain or dysfunction.

    Hi michael !! Like everyone got this for first time and they dont know what happened that began the fear-pain cycle just curious if a person knows the mind and body aspect and someday he got this in his perenium will it become chronic or will symptoms amplify further ?

      Moving forward, now that you are aware of the mind-body connection, you will be able to catch things much faster, and make the appropriate adjustments. This means that you don't have to develop chronic mind body syndrome issues again...since you will be listening to your body and emotions much more closely than before.

    Hey Michael, I am an 18-year-old college kid who has been dealing with pelvic pain for the last five months. I have gone to many urologists, taken many medications and antibiotics (not a good idea), and am now doing physical therapy. I have found that through physical therapy I am finally finding some relief and am using the bathroom less, but lifting and running is still not my friend and results in many bad symptoms like burning everywhere. What would you say is the best way to go from 80% better to 100% pain-free. Although my quality of life has improved, I cannot return to being as physically active as I have been. Thanks for the amazing video, would love to see what you say.

    • @TransformPelvicHealth

      Hey Christian, Sorry to hear that you have been going through this. The last 20% is mental for sure. It's about knowing that there is NO DAMAGE being done to your body; when you know that this is mind-body syndrome and not structural. It is about not trying to hard to heal, and instead, letting go of the dysfunctional patterns that are creating autonomic nervous system activation. Overcoming the conditioned responses. I recommend the book "The Way Out" by Alan Gordon, also my 6 episode podcast series: ua-cam.com/play/PLXKHW90sr9tkj3_oW_m467pCX9bxjrEd2.html /// if you need more, reach out to me on the Contact page of my website and I can direct you more. I just wanted to add, my TMS pelvic "bladder pain syndrome" with nocturia and urgency pain was debilitating. Now I'm on a mindbody journey, I realise it was a stuck pathway. I have had as a gay man, a positive proven UTI microbiology when I was 17/18 about when the pain started. Sex as self harm, STI associated fear in the lgbt community, and generally not having self compassion. The UTI was real, but has been treated and gone. The symptoms remained, and still flare. But I know pain isn't permanent, and with a kind curious nature - approach the pain fearless with scientific/spiritual inquisity. My pain is mostly gone after decades of headaches, back pains, neck pains, ear, face pain, pelvic pain. I cannot understand why Dr Howard isn't blowing up. I believe the instilled suppression of emotion in men is why chronic pain exists in men, and society as a whole is sociopathic. This goes beyond what everyone thinks.

    If a nerve like the pudendal nerve innervates a range of areas, then wouldn’t it make sense that the pain would move around amongst different areas that the nerve feeds? Like the rectum, the vagina and the urethra?

    • @TransformPelvicHealth
      @TransformPelvicHealth  5 місяців тому

      It doesn't have to. Ultimately, you have nerves throughout your entire body, meaning that mind-body conditions can (and do) show up just about anywhere. This can have to do with learned pain and other reasons why it is even showing up in the "root region." I go over the reasons why it might be showing up in this part of the body in my podcast. It can easily move locations, but it does not have to. That would also make it a purely neurological phenomenon, and it goes beyond the mechanical structure of our anatomy. Our thoughts and emotions are heavily influential.

    PS Did you ever notice that when you take a sedative you don't have to pee in the night, point is you don't need a sedative but when you are relaxed and calm and the amygdala is cooler, there isn't that excitability, or threat feeling that make you feel you have to go (flight).

    I have been disabled by severe scrotal pain for years. A pudendal nerve block took away my pain for 2 hours. Im being offered cryoablation. 😅 hard to conceive this is all in my head. Its worse when im stressed, less when distracted. It doesn't interfere with my sleep - one of the diagnostic criteria for pudendal neuralgia. Can what your selling help a lot of people? Yes. But making blanket statements that this is the answer for everyone is unhelpful for those who truly have a "structural" cause dor their pain. Everyone has childhood issues. I've done that work years ago.

    • @TransformPelvicHealth
      @TransformPelvicHealth  Місяць тому +1

      I am sorry that you are going through this. Even if there is a structural cause, there is a cause for that structural issue; it does not come via randomized entropy. When you look deeply within, you can find the patterns that lead to the reactions to triggers. And at the same time, definitely get medical support if need be, and get relief in the ways that you can. We have seen that the "root cause route" is the most definitive for long-term healing.

    Can mind body cause urinary retention and make it hard to pee and empty the bladder?

    • @TransformPelvicHealth
      @TransformPelvicHealth  2 місяці тому

      Definitely, as, a really tight pelvic floor causes urinary hesitancy. This happened to me when I went through it. If you have already been checked by a doctor and there is nothing structurally causing this, then yes the brain can do this.

    It can be structural and move around with connective tissue disorders…. Laxity in colon and bladder and blood vessel and tendon tissues based on weather and histamine consumption or production can produce pain pressure in the region based on many many structural factors like bowel and bladder contents when the support systems are compromised and the blood vessels and tendons are responding to tissue inflammation. It can be something other than conditioned. I’m not saying that conditioning can’t absolutely produce this but there are other things that need to be checked out and potentially pursued especially things like Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and connective tissue disorders Maso activation because of the mass cells are going off in an area causing inflammation are your system is dumping oxalates because of a histamine intolerance it is something different than what you are describing.

    • @TransformPelvicHealth
      @TransformPelvicHealth  4 місяці тому

      Certain syndromes such as Ehlers-Danlos do need to be taken into consideration when addressing something like pelvic floor dysfunction. The mind-body system is complex and can have organic disease components, and psychophysiologic processes. At times there are overlaps. By addressing the mind-body arena, you will see significant gains in your management and overall lifestyle, even amidst a structural issue. To see the possibility of breaking through structural, tissue issues, my best recommendation is Dr. Joe Dispenza's work, and going all-in on psychoneuroimmunology and epigenetic expression modification. Thanks for sharing! -Michael
