My dishwasher had the same symptoms. And after a few hours of research I determined it was the electronic control board. After I installed a new one, my dishwasher works like brand new!
if this works...which I believe it just has (about to run the dishwasher again to make sure) then you literally just put at least $120 back in my pocket...and I love you. EDIT* It did work and I can't thank you enough for sharing this information.
Have the micro switch for the door latch replace, if the electronic board can`t read that the door is close it will never start and when you push start button the start light will blink to indicate a malfunction. The micro switch is only a few $ if you fell skill enough to replace it by your self, If done by technician will cost $$$$ to replace it. I have mine for 6 years now and it was the only issue. I found that out after resetting the dish washer and running a wash cycle, at the end of the cycle after I have empty it and shut the door the green light over the cancel button did not turned off. This mean for the electronic board that the door is open and it will never let you start a new wash cycle. This is a safety feature to prevent the washer from running if the door is open.
I have this same problem. I replaced the electronic control board and am still having the same problem. I pulled it out from the counter and and checking the wire harness, etc.
Sears told me that the pump was busted, it had too high a resistance (I suppose of the electromagnets), which the motherboard/processor then senses and shuts off the cycle. The parts total was $77 ("pump-drain" and "hose-drain") and the labor was $142 for Sears to fix, for a total of $220, almost the price of buying another Quiet Partner II. Haven't decided what to do.

having same exact problem with my dishwasher-just shuts off after it fills. it wants to run but just shuts off. i checked the same things you checked and still nothing. i have the same exact dishwasher, what a piece of garbage, i will never buy a whirlpool product ever again, i also let ALL of my friends and family not to buy ANYTHING made by this company. my dishwasher is only 4 years old and have not used it in a year due to this problem. i should of just kept my old dishwasher that was over 20 years old and still worked-live and learn.
Whirlpool Quiet Partner II sucks. I have had this same problem since dishwasher was installed. Whirlpool was called and did nothing. Lowes called and did nothing. Called appliance repairman. He took dishwasher apart and checked the boards. Couldn't find a problem. Turned breaker off and then back on (says it resets them). Dishwasher began to work for him. But I still have this problem! If I keep draining it and restarting, eventually it will go; but it is a big pain in the butt!

I am ready to replace the door switch and R2 relay in attempt to fix this problem. My whirlpool quiet partner 2 du1055xtvs dish washer stops and lights go out as if it was not started. This happens about 60 seconds into the fill and when the pump try's to start to wet the dishes. When it works correctly, the pump will run for a few seconds during the fill and then shut off, and the fill process will continue for another 30 seconds until full. When it makes it to this point the washer will run to completion. I am searching to find out if ether the door switches or R2 relay will cause this problem??? I am thinking that to much voltage drop across one of these devices is causing the shutdown. The dish washer has not gotten much use over the six years we've had it.
Hey Randy, Take a look at the two blue capacitors 1000uf on the control board. The tops of them may be slightly elevated. The capacitors are blown when the tops peak. The smaller caps should be fine, as such the tops will be flat.

Try hitting the following in order:
Heated Dry
Normal
Heated Dry
Normal
Then immediately hit Cancel
That resets the dishwasher.

What worked? All they did was change cycles then run the drain.
for what it's worth, I'm having the same problem. I was thinking it's the motherboard, but if that didn't fix it, what could it be?
I fixed the problem not too long after taking this video to help a guy diagnose....replaced it with a GE washer.

I'm having the same problem, with the same model, 3.5 years old. I think it's the mother board. Have you solved this problem?
