I'd like to state that comp 182 is not a "weed out" class :-) It's a class for building character.
*suffering builds character*
Luay Nakhleh, spoken like a genuine *israeli liar* obfuscating the truth. If you actually cared about teaching Rice University students instead of regurgitating memorized definitions and down-grading their scores, you would have a better reputation within the student body. By way of deception? 👎🏾
Love the idea of sharing what you remember. Here's everything I remember:

I just found your channel a few minutes ago and your content blows me away. You’re a great teacher and it’s really engaging, but in a fun way. My programming skills are quite limited, but I really enjoyed flipping through your videos 😊🙌
thanks so much for the kind words!
No problem. You deserve to hear them 😊🙌
@@oppenheimer11 I learned HTML in highschool and I tried to teach myself a bit of the other languages (eg. Python, Java, C etc.) but I never became fluent in them

I found these types of videos really useful as I never gone to college.
And good thing is that I started with wordpress, making landing pages and now I have fultime frontend developer job.

About to enter my 3rd year of software engineering this really helped thanks
good luck with year!
would you consider doing a video just going through all the apps you have on your laptop that help and relate to coding? would love to see something like that just to get an idea of good things to use :)
yes, great idea!
This was so good
Luckily I have Oklahoma Promise and I'm planning to pursue a Computer Science degree next year before it expires.
I know there are routes to self teach or bootcamp into the career but the free degree is something I cannot pass on.
Thanks for the video; a heads up to what's ahead!
7:45 yeah SQL is really complicated but its really useful. I'm in my Junior year of college studying Information Technology and we use SQL all the frickin time.
Great content. Although I work as a Human resource professional, I really like your videos and keeps up my motivation. Was thinking if you have any recommendation for HR channels ?

Hey Namanh! hope you are doing fine. I am getting admitted to university within a month. The problem is that almost all universities starts with c programming while most of UA-camrs including you recommending python. Should I start with python or c ?( I have no prior programming experience).
Also many people say that if you learn python you can't do competitive programming and also there will be a problem while learning data structures and algorithms.
i think it’s okay to learn with c programming for a thorough understanding, but I’d definitely learn python on the side and use it during coding interviews
Please do a video comparing computer science and Information Technology degree and careers 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
thanks for the suggestion!
goddamm 2yrs bachelors. I wish i can do that as someone who went back to college from a different field (civil engineering). I certainly can take more than the load the normal student gets since I'm much more focused (since i'm older and have less desire to fuck around now lol).
Can you tell me what you learned the most from ELEC 220 I'm very curious
Still waiting for the computer science master part 😢
can you please tell which textbooks are used in your university to teach you ,
Can someone please suggest some books or Free resources for a beginner in python specially for Data analysis and web development? Thanks in Advance!
Umm hi Namanh. basically I'm from Nepal. And recently I joined xyz University of Nepal. I chose Computer Science and Information technology. But its hard idk why but it is. rather than coding the professor teaches theory more often. whats your suggestion??
Did you have a lot of transfer credit to be able to graduate in 2 years? Or did you just pile together your cs classes into 4 semesters?
i came in with a lot of AP credits so that definitely made it easier and i switched from the BS to the BA so that helped too - i also did take more CS classes than usual each semester to make it all work!
Wow really educational,
How did u do just 4years for bachelor's and masters
Why cant I save to playlist?
Namanh, great video. I had an aptitude for programming but chose business for a quick access to making money. Later, I added a law degree. I am still eating and not homeless! LOL
No computer organizations (digital logic, risc, memory, etc) or assembly language in the entire course ??
we covered assembly in COMP 321 and there was one ELEC course i took but i forgot everything
Please sir I have a question to ask you, cos I will gonna start my bachelor's degree in the software engineering Field and I have zero experience honestly, pls can you assist me to tell? me the actual(main) software engineering syllabus without a prerequisite in the next year September 2023, so that I will gonna find the course online platform like udemy, Coursera, EDX e.t.c because I hate 😡 prerequisite course frankly, pls bro help me to answer my question and put me in a right way to avoid having mistake as fresher please 🙏
Bro , Can I become a good programmer without a degree in computer science from an university ?
Honestly I loved Comp 182 despite it being really hard
was a great class

@Naham Kapur. So I love your advise, but in reality don’t you think that corporations really also look more for the status of a school instead of the knowledge and experience?
really depends, but there are ways to get around this bias - watch my guide on recruiting!

How'd you get through both your bachelors and masters in 4 years?
video coming soon!
@@namanhkapur Thanks! Also here's a video suggestion, what basic tools should beginners use, based on their goals, such as for those looking into front end development and those interested in back end development. You could talk about what ide to use, which courses in particular to take, projects both categories of aspirants can work on and maybe a discussion on laptops/computers and whether one needs to spend money on more powerful devices.
