So a little backstory of this entry
National selection are shows that determine the artist/song or artist+song for Eurovision chosen by a jury/international jury and a public vote. many countries use this format. others go for a internal selection (behind the scene). Sweden has the mother of national selections with their Melodifestivalen contest (argueable the most popular national selection too). Albania (December) is usually the first country to choose their entry through a national selection and Sweden usually is one of the last (March).
Maruv actually won the selection but got treated very poorly by the Ukrainian delegation. she had to cancel all her shows in Russia (Due the Crimea situation) and had to pay for everything herself. she and her management decided to pull out of the contest over these unfair reasons. Ukraine asked the 2nd and 3rd place to go to Eurovision 2019 instead with both rejecting the offer out of respect to Maruv. Ukraine then withdrew from Eurovision 2019 as a whole.

I hope you understand it now after Russian invasion on Ukraine why this political aspect was so important to us. Maruv entertained Russia giving her concerts there and she is doing it even after Russian invasion. Can you believe it??? We couldn’t allow her to represent Ukraine.
