I attended a very large, very well-known and thought of flagship state university in the mid to late seventies. These types of hateful, vile protests would have been completely unthinkable back then. During my four years on campus, I never even had one encounter with a fellow student or professor that could have been construed to be antisemitic. As a result, it's taken me a long time to understand how captured and corrupted many if not most of the universities have become. To be sure, there were "glimpses" of far left, woke ideology back then, but they were nascent and at that point were marginalized and contained, small enough to be considered "different points of view".
