How to tie the Elevator Booby Fly

Another fly from the vault! This was first shown to me some time back I think it came via Mark Rooney who was fishing for Hanningfield back in the day. As you can imagine it's a super buoyant fly in in the larger sizes I am sure it could be fished as a bung. Where this fly scores though is when fished on the hang. As the names suggests when the retrieve is finished the fly rises through the water column like an elevator.

Just tied a few of these but in green foam with black body, had three fish in quick succession at my local lake...nothing else fly wise was any good but these managed to work

I'll be tying a couple of them when my new funky fritz delivery gets over here from Scotland.
I found a pet supply shop over here that sells hares mask + 2 extra ears and 2 back feet for €1:70!! Allegedly dogs eat them 🤨So I ordered 3... I can see some olive and yellow masks in my future. Keep up the good work.

Yes like a Cats Whisker style it works very well.

booby's are great for panfish and bass when fished floating on the surface as well thats how i fish them.

Hi Lindsay. As I have said before I am a great booby and like to see different variations. I tie a gurgler / booby and I think next booby day I will tie a few of these … I think the colour combos would be interesting!! Stay well, atb Jim
