I absolutely loved Janis. She was my era. I was a young tennager when I first heard her. There will never be another Janis. She was awesome. She had so much soul and you just couldn’t help but love her and I still listen to her and still love her . The Beautiful Rose ♥️🌹♥️
It's weird when you're 19, 20 years old and can relate to someone famous who died so young. She was 27.. I surpassed her age 16 years ago, when I have birth to my oldest son, who turns 16 in July.. who I (obviously) had when I was 27 years old.
I didn’t know much about her until a few months ago. I saw her Monterey pop performance and I was in AWE! Now I’m obsessed with her, her soul, her spirit. I feel like she’s my best friend now ❤
Her technique was impeccable and she made it sound easy. Anybody else ever tried to sing Janis knows how much energy she gave. And while some of the people like they probably sound and runs and all that, Janis was authentic ... could feel her pain and her soul when she performed.
It is to bad that they didn't have rehab centers back then for celebrities like they do today. We lost way to many during the late 60's and 70's. It did keep me from doing the drugs. I wish i would have kept saying No . I walked into that bizarre door in March 79. Just Say No. Find a more positive ways to deal with the stress and more. I have been to the Motel, 3 blocks north of Hollywood blvd
Because "saying no" and "rehab centers" stop people from using drugs.... please educate yourself. Rehab does jack shit hut extend suicide. Rehab centers is for publicity and money. Drug addicts will keep doing drugs until they connect with their true self which is buried by years of supression. Stupid rehabs should actually pay a fucking tention to early childhood experiences which promote this escape through drugs and alcohol.
Gian Mercado You’re right. Those rehabs for celebrities just take their money and don’t do much good. With addicts and the majority of people with “mental illness “ their childhood traumas are never addressed and they should be. That’s where the problem lies.
The damage to Janis was done in childhood all she wanted was to be accepted and all the kids, for the exception of a few treated her like garbage. The mental damage from that created the gateway that led to her early death. She was a very fragile soul and the bullying destroyed her in her childhood. So very sad. R.I.P. Janis.
I love Janis's Kozmic Blues album... A lot of her fans arent too keen on it but it has grown on me through the years. A lot of historians like to make Janis out to be this miserable blues singer when she wasnt. She knew what she was doing and she knew the consequences. I'm sure she was bi-polar or one of those diseases they didnt really know about in 1970. God I wonder what her career and life would have been like if she lived. ??
I almost died on Oct 4th after living across the bridge from the Landmark Inn I left & went to De Santos where Pearl used to live upstairs then to the Chelsea Hotel where the new owner wouldn't let me check in & then back to De Santos to work on my new band & new script!
To have been Inspired by my forefathers African American Rythum and Blues, she had a powerful voice for a White woman.....I will give her credit on that one.
@KelliFilkins Janis sang with a FIVE octave soprano voice. Can you do that? I dont think so. And dont even ask if I can. Im a contralto. Janis is the queen. So,,,shut up.
***Will someone please help me out? I could've sworn that I watched a video of Janis Joplin singing a song that had the words, "Pretty little thing let me light your candle". I thought she sung that song before the Black Crows, then they did a cover of her song. Now I can't seem to find the video that I saw before. I can't find it anywhere. I've been looking for 2 hours now. Maybe I'm just getting it confused with something else?
KelliFilkins: You have a right to your opinion, but you had to be there. You're obviously much too young to appreciate her. Also, please learn to spell before you post. If you had half of Janis' soul you might understand.
Big Brother was a great fit for her as neither were polished and what a unique power sound they had. The cosmic stuff was too canned and that just was not Janis. Wish she had stayed with Big Brother and seen what they would of come up with next.
anyone that didn't have permission for Janis Joplin songs is getting sued you understand me to 224 every time that you have every bezel and every piece of jewelry every worldly possessions that you own
Okay Sean Dorothy we're all going to get together and do a show Sean Justin Douglas Shawn put your name in as Joplin on the Joplin UA-cam account where you see the birth certificate yeah not you my kids.and all the kids James in the clouds Sky Anita Shah on Shawn and Anita Shawn Anita Shawn Shawn I love you all Dorothy loves Skye and the club and James Grandma loves you all this is going to benefit is very much and you'll never have to pay until the day it again games Sky I love you and you'll be returned your mother and father's care I love you so much and Grandma love you more than life itself okay
95 percent of time it's her just screaming uncontrollably! I don't care much for people that are genuine but after a few lines. Deal with life sober, it's the only way to enjoy.
I never cared much for Janis Joplin singing. Well, maybe Bobby McGee was alright. I just think her raspy voice was overrated but the media likes to lead people by their noses unfortunately.
People can sing. There everywhere. It takes a bit of luck not just talent to make it which is why so many good bands and musician's never get they're time in the sun. Also I think we will eventually have another rock rebellion soon enough.
I heard her when I was 14, three years later she died. She touched my soul, all these years later no singer has ever taken her place in my heart. Singers will come and go, Janis will never go.
Yes and "THE ROSE" is a legendary film. Bette Midler's electrifying performance dominates this portrait of a 1960's rock star on the downward path who discovers the high price of fame.
Wow! I never knew that, I share the same date of birth with Janis. I was also born on January 14, though in a different year. You just gotta love Janis. Such a beautiful soul and a great singer. Arguably the best of all time.
Janis Joplin was born on January 19, 1943, not 14. I have the book Pearl and it also says the 19 on obituaries and Vh1 Behind the Music. I'm 42. I did a term paper on her in college. Most fun I ever had writing a paper in my life.. I didn't do drugs but being 20 and reading some of the pranks she pulled in and after high school were eerily similar to some things I did with my friends. For example, Janis and her friends dragged a "Men at Work" construction sign away from the sight and stood it up right outside a well known Texas Whore house brothel.. Before I did this report or knew this, it was a week before Halloween and a friend of mine and I went through her mom's chest of costumes and found a red 1920's flapper dress. I ended up losing a coin toss and wearing it. We pinned up my long blonde hair into a bob cut and walked across town to a train station in PA that was once upon a time a whore house. For about a hour every time a train was done boarding or passing through I twirled around and posed in full costume waving at the passengers.
So sad that during that era the artists were doing heroin. So many died if an overdose. Probably not intentionally but the underlying reason due to unhappiness. So much to live for but so unaware of it.
I absolutely loved Janis. She was my era. I was a young tennager when I first heard her. There will never be another Janis. She was awesome. She had so much soul and you just couldn’t help but love her and I still listen to her and still love her . The Beautiful Rose ♥️🌹♥️

You loved a drug addict?!
The Rose was a fictional female 1960's rock singer played by the incredible Bette Midler in 1979.
@@jonnydelacruz8553 lots of famous musicians are drug addicts loved by adoring fans. Your point was what?
To me she was true and raw, just like the blues. So much soul,RIP my queen of rock and blues
It's definitely one of the best female singers of all time. It's undisputable.

Another great singer that we lost to drugs, What a shame!
To loneliness
Her technique was impeccable and she made it sound easy. Anybody else ever tried to sing Janis knows how much energy she gave.

RIP Janis, she's part of the 27 Club, she died only at age 27.

WHAT SHE WAS AMAZING AND ALWAYS WILL BE............
She was one of a kind. There will never be another like her in my life time!!!!
Love that she gave credit to those who inspired her ..shes awsome
Actually that debut album was first released on Mainstream Records in 1967. Columbia then re-issued it in 1971 after Janis' death.
It is to bad that they didn't have rehab centers back then for celebrities like they do today. We lost way to many during the late 60's and 70's. It did keep me from doing the drugs. ? There were LOTS of drug rehab centers by 1970. Were you around?
@@brianhammer5107 today Whitney was still dead from drugs.

One of my favorite singers.

I'm comfortable saying she's the all time greatest. Plus, the coolest.
She put heart and soul in her music to bad she died so young
She was born on January 19th 1943. Come on Watchmojo get your facts right!

She's way better than those "fathers" you brag about.
I was conceived on July 24 1968
One of a kind .. love her!
Voz linda e carreira curta msm assim já virei fã ❤️
Her voice was not beautiful. She was talented and her voice was unique but not at all "beautiful."
Well she is my favorite! I absolutely love her
I was born Oct 3 1970 11:45 pm on that Saturday night when she was passing away. 😔
@KelliFilkins Janis sang with a FIVE octave soprano voice. Can you do that? I dont think so. And dont even ask if I can. Im a contralto. Janis is the queen. So,,,shut up.
NoRosesForMe not only that she could go up or down in the middle of a note! Her voice was absolutely amazing and rarely imitated correctly.
I wish to have sincerity and a good Time, at least I have a Good Time " Janis Joplin.

WatchMojo.com , seriously. Do research. Her birthdate is January 19, 1943. Not January 14.
She was born January 19th
Alright, only one minute in and already a huge mistake : she was born on the 19th of january 43 (and not on the 14th)

WOW!
Its unfortunate that the Demons got a hold of her !!
She died of a broken heart
@anthony3169 She didn't intentionally overdose. It was a bad mix of Heroin. Although the drugs are basically suicide... Yeah.
You don't know the real story Sir
Buy a one shilling Nigri to cilcus who is Delaney Lynn Joplin

I wonder if she did self harm when she was younger.
So talented, but he demons got a hold of her !! Sad. !!!
I don’t think that first song is The Kozmic Blues...
The giver of life belly button babies project and just say no to drugs and alcohol project campaign and organizations
Another victim of the 27 curse.
Big Brother was a poorly musically trained group. Janis needed better Guitarists
There's a difference between singing and screaming lyrics. To me Janis Joplin did not sing. This is considered white noise.
My baby girl is 1.14 ewwwwwuh yes

Bette Midler as The Rose was so much better than Janis Joplin. Her character was fictionalized but definitely inspired by Janis.

Beautiful perso. Poured everything in her music..I was 10 when it anounced on radio turned on to her by my sister still is what I listen to
The film the Rose starring Bette Midler, was loosely based on Janis Joplin's life.
Absolutely the life of Joplin she was the real deal who didn't give a fuck
