I´m usually very shy and i hate to hear my own voice because i consider it ugly and weak but for the first time this video made me try the exercises and i am surprised that i can do vibrato! it is like a personal miracle for me!
I am singing a special song in the church in 3 weeks (Es Mi' Deseo) and your videos have been a tremendous help in getting me ready. This series on vibrato is gold.
I swear. I was struggling with head voice as I am alto mezzo and I have to sing an opera-ish kind of song... and you words: Straight air and then losen up. ARE LITERALLY what anyone needs to hear to learn vibrato!!! I love all your videos ♥
I'm 4 years late to this video but I've been on / off trying to find my vocal vibrato since I was a kid - I could find it on extended notes but never quite "on command" until this video. I've always said," Until you can explain something to a child, you haven't learned enough about the topic" and this channel has mastered healthy vocal techniques. Within just days of watching all these videos, there's such a big difference in my voice. (To the coach, you're honestly such a kind and gentle person)
I love it when you said that the vibrato is there, we just need to uncover it. That gave me hope 😃 Thank you, Victoria! I love to uncover my natural vibrato.
I have no idea how you do it but you always amaze me. I commented on one of your more recent videos about pop singing tone. You've helped me find my pop tone and my vibrato in one day. I've always had hints of vibrato come out here and there, but today was the first time it came out in a controlled manner. By far, the best vocal teacher on UA-cam.
Bruh, you said it wasn't a quick fix, but I'm half way through the video and although it's quiet and requires a lot of focus to bring out. I can get vibrato. I've been working on this for years and had loads of exercises, but no one has ever told me that it's just about relaxing the throat. That being said I have had training about controling the voice, so maybe that's why it came faster to me. I cannot express my thanks in words ❤️❤️🤧
Thank you! I sometimes can hear my vibrato when I randomly sing out loud. I’m not sure how I do it. I actually surprise myself when I do hear my vibrato. I hope I’m able to get a grip on it so I can use it on demand 🤞🏼
Perfect! I always think and hear that i have a great vibrato, but its great to see theres even more improvement i can make, just for the days where i cant seem to pull off a strong vibrato. Thanks again!
Hey Victoria! Thanks for another great video! I've been struggling with finding my natural vibrato and mostly manufacturing it which ends up sounding a little lame lol. I like how you mentioned backing off to find the vibrato as I always thought you had to give it something more like muscular breath support. Looking forward to the second video :) Thanks again and Happy 4th!
Yes, try backing off just a little bit to get more of a floaty feeling. Making a fake vibrato will just create more problems. Do the 2 exercises I gave and I'll see you back here next week! :D
@@Victoria-Victorious thank you I will, I'm also training my muscle control because another coach said that that was important and I found out that I don't really have that much control

I have a question for you. I have Vibrato, I can even achieve Vibrato on every note I sing, but I'm not sure if it's happening the way it's supposed to. My Larynx sort of moves around. I'm not sure if my vibrato is a result of the larynx movement, or of the larynx movement is just what happens when Vibrato occurs. I do realize that an in person consultation would be best to determine this, but I wonder, and ask - what is your experience with larynx movement and vibrato. Thanks!
No, it is more than that. Vibrato is created with the balance of airflow and freedom in the larynx (your voice box - the way your vocal folds come together).
Victoria, is 'Gospel Jaw' vibrato just stage posing or poor techniue? a couple of my favourite metal singers: Bruce from Iron Maiden, Tim Owens ex Judas Preist do this quite a lot, but are both considered 'proper' technique vocalists by most. Can this jaw wiggle sometimes be an 'add on' to a larnyx vibrato? thanks :) (my 'singing' guitar vibrato uses hand, wrist, forearm all together...)
Is there like a reason why I can only produce vibrato my upper register and its a kinda wobbly Or I still don't have vibrato and this is like just signs I'm getting close ?
I already found my natural vibrato but when i do it, it is a very slow one and it takes a lot of breath and last for a very short time, do you have any tips
No matter how hard I try, my vibrato always sounds like a machine gun. (think Nina Simone in Lilac Wine or any Tracy Chapman song). I've tried different exercises over and over, but my vibrato speed stays the same or is sometimes inconsistent (different fast speeds). What exercises do you recommend for that specific problem? Or what is the problem here exactly, so I can begin to fix it?
I would have to see and hear you to have a better idea, but generally, a fast vibrato is due to tension, jaw jutting forward, and a high larynx. See my playlist on the Tight Throat and my latest video on the larynx. You might consider submitting a video for review and I can give you some exercises: www.healthyvocaltechnique.com/product/video-review-of-your-singing/
That should never happen. Perhaps you overdid the practice and went into the push and squeeze (which I always warn about). Rest your voice and if you still have problems after 2 weeks, I recommend seeing an ENT doctor (preferable a laryngologist).
I thought I had a vibrato but I watched your video about "fake" vibrato before and now I don't know, every vibrato I do feels fake to me :D (it doesn't sound like a goat, but still feels forced).

I have vibrato..when I run out of breath 😂
This is very common and I discuss it in one of my vibrato videos. It often happens as singers relax at the vocal folds when they run out of breath.
OMG. Your voice is beautiful. 😍
Thank you for the tips

I practice my vibrato its all about holding your breath with the stomach when your singing right 😊
All about controlling the flow i am feeling it now it's amazing you always feel the diaphragm holding the voice am i right
No, it is more than that. Vibrato is created with the balance of airflow and freedom in the larynx (your voice box - the way your vocal folds come together).

Hello from Canada! Victoria, do you offer online singing lessons?
Hello! Yes, I do. You can learn more on my website, www.healthyvocaltechnique.com/
I would like you to be my vocal teacher!❤

Anyone? Ken Tamplin discourages 'gospel jaw' -but loads seem to do it...
No, the jaw should not be used to help make pitch. A lot of this jaw movement is due to tension and is not necessary, even if it sounds good.
This really help me thank you🥰 auto sub
Thank you and welcome to the channel! Come back soon!
Is there like a reason why I can only produce vibrato my upper register and its a kinda wobbly
Or I still don't have vibrato and this is like just signs I'm getting close ?
This is very common! It sounds like you have more "release" (less tension) in your upper register. Keep up the good practice!

Oh, gee, there is no way to know without your seeing an ENT dr. If you are concerned, you should definitely make an appt.
@@Victoria-Victorious Thank you so much
oh my goodness same
I heard there's two types of vibrato, throat vibrato and diaphragmic vibrato.
Vibrato occurs at the larynx, most likely what is meant by "throat vibrato". Diaphragmatic vibrato is fake vibrato.
Something that is tough for me after a belted high note.
Practice it at different softer volumes first. If able to sing the note with vibrato, then get louder gradually (crescendo).
I'm struggling alot. I'm so use to using my breath to create some kind of vibrato. But just using my voice is challenging. Its really shaky and everywhere.
Make sure that you watch the second video in my vibrato playlist that has the exercises. Different exercises work for different people.
