Thank you Gary. You did a great Job! I'll take some photos of a finished one and attached those for reference with the download as you suggested. I'll do a another video as soon as I can to go over in detail the areas that looked most frustrating for you, that should help everyone else too.
Thank you for supporting me and my work, every download helps me invest in the next project. All the very best and have a Merry Christmas. J

Hi Gary, I have used a few different methods to to patina knives. Apply yellow Mustard on the piece let set till you like the patina. Soak your part in straight white vinegar. Again till you like the look. 50/50 mix of Ferric Chloride Acid and White Vinegar, leave a Blue/Grey Patina. The most recently one I used was to soak in a very strong brew of hot instant coffee, very much like this look. I hope these might work for you.

Finished to the end of the first video! Almost looks like a horse. I really enjoy working with the metal and the mig is fun. Thank you so much for the videos as they made me get started after having the parts for a couple of months. Bought a plasma table for retirement. So easy to re-cut my throw aways. :-) Thanks again Gary!!

Thanks for these videos Gary. I was originally trained as a high pressure pipe welder, but changed trades many years ago, and would like to get back into metal working as a hobby, and my shop is almost ready to go. I loved this project, and found the videos quite inspiring, however a little aggressive for my first projects, but it’s definitely on the list now. Cheers from 🇨🇦.

Great job. On your body hammer put a lot of of radius around the hammer head to help reduce your hammer marks. Very beautiful. If it's going on your truck you could chrome it. As soon as this is seen you will have many orders. After you have 300 of these you will be much faster. It would also look good using gun bluing. They have cold bluing. A die or paint fall varnish to seal it but still shows that it's made of steel. Check out Gene Winfield for sheet metal tip.

If you want actual rust in a hurry, heat the metal up some (say searing steak type of temperature) and spray the surface with vinegar. instant rust. If you try it, keep your face out of the way when spraying the vinegar, it briefly gets quite harsh on the inside of your nose.

There is a UA-cam channel named Bill Worden FX and he makes quite a array of metal patina solutions that are basic brush on and rinse off later patina finishes. I know he is in the USA and have no idea if shipping to the UK is reasonable but it would in my opinion be worth a look, if for nothing else to see options for finishes.

Congratulations on finishing this project! When you hammer on the metal to move it or shape it, it helps to use two hammers, one in each hand. You brace the metal with one whilst hammering with the other. I'm going to try but with a considerably thinner metal. Welding thin metal is easier than shaping thick metal, in my opinion.

try diluting white vinegar 4-1 with water and using that as a wipe on and let dry method, then clear coating it, try it on a test piece first, it should give a nice brown patina
after you welded it and before the grinding i thought it also had a good look to it.
the other finish you could go with is flame colour it with the plant then clearing it.
question is, do you mount it on the bonnet or roof of the landy, or hide it in the missus bed :))
