Tip: if your row ended with purl, start it with knit and vice-versa
when working the "wrong" side, do we purl where we usually would knit on the right side?
OMG THX
THANK YOU!!! I've been struggling with this for months and you seriously displayed it in just the right way that it's so easy!
Awesome, RomiePie - So happy you're off and 2x2 rib knitting now! Cool name!
Wow! I’m in love! I’m a beginner knitter, and I haven’t knitted for awhile and I needed to check the order of stiches for this exact stitch and this video explained it perfectly. I can’t wait to explore this channel. The video was really clear, easy to understand and just so helpful. I can’t thank you enough. 🙏❤️
Glad it was helpful!
Gloria Kim..... thank you. That actually makes since now! Good luck with your knitting!
You explained the stitch SO well!! Thanks!
Great to hear, Madeline!!! Happy to help you!!
great tip. I was doing a pattern that was cast on 10, work k2, p2 but never said to p the k stitches next row, so kept taking it out thinking i was accidentally knitting or purling when i was supposed to be purling or knitting.... i'll cast on in increments of four.
Thank you so much. The start of my scarf is turning out beautifully.
Thanks so much for your tutorials! I'm enjoying learning to knit as and making gifts of scarves!
Alright i can already see the ribbing forming!! Whoo hoo Studio Knit
Wonderful, congrats!
Thank you so much this video was very clear. I'm going to try it out now
Kristin said w/2x2 ribbing, you'd be purling the knits and knitting the purls, when you turn. Was that an error? Don't u k>k and p>p regardless of the side? Could confuse beginners.
Yes I am confused! Do we really change what we're doing on the backside?
Same!
She means when you turn it over just continue with the pattern. You don't start with a certain stitch. So you will be knitting vice versa. Hope this helps
I like this rib stitch.
Thanks! This is awesome. I'm a newb and am working my way through your knitting videos that teach the different stitches and patterns. :) Will you also show us how to make the ribbing go the short way instead of the long way?
Great idea, Kimber Leigh!!! Will do!
I used this pattern to knit a scarf.
Wonderful!!
I am recently knitting a scarf 2x2 rib scarf thank you
Awesome, Tenisha Davis - Hope you're enjoying knitting your 2x2 rib scarf! Thanks for watching!
You are welcome but still having trouble
You make my learning process so easy, thank you!
Could I use K3 P3 instead? Hoping to have this as the bulk of the face washer/towel with the basket stitch as the ends...that tutorial you gave told to cast on in multiples of 6
+Cher Warner Go for it!!!
Great video now I know how to rib and I learned in like 2 seconds
I love this stitch and use it alot in scarves but i find as it gets longer the piece will either curl into itself like a tube, or will shrink into itself, I think maybe i do it too tightly?
Hmmm.... Perhaps. Not sure without seeing it.
The stockinet stitch actually curls up as you knit it, and parts of the ribbing are basically like the stockinet stitch, so it also curls up.
Yaaasss girl! you make the best vids! Thumbs up!!!
this is very helpful!
thank you
Thanks so much for watching, Karla!!!
Thanku so much...it really helps me alot💐🤗❤
Hi. Can you let me know what yarn you used. It looks really soft like cotton
Thanks
Bee
Thank you ;)
Okay, so I'm super late to this video, but I can't wait to try this. Thanks for the great clip :)
Do you have a new link for this written pattern? The one that is listed say it cannot be found.
Plz show how to knit sweater for men and i like ur videos very much. Thanks alot
I have searched for so many videos to learn different styles of stitching. I came across your channel and caught instantly! I do have a question. I have been working on a scarf but I tend to get holes in it or increasing stitches. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. It makes it look sloppy. Could you please tell me what I may be doing wrong?
Without being with you as it happens, hard to say. I encourage slowing down a bit and counting your stitches after each row. Have fun!!
Studio Knit thank you so much for replying back. Thank you for the advice. Please continue to make your awesome videos. Could you make a video on changing colors?
Great idea, Joi Foreman - Thanks!
+Joi Foreman I'm actually a new knitter myself and i just figured out why both were happening to myself :) it was so annoying at first but its a simple fix. the holes are because you may be dropping a stitch while knitting. this means that when you transfer a loop onto the other needle, you may accidentally pull too hard and pull off the next loop into the air. Its hard to catch because its not a significant difference until you keep knitting and notice the hole. Youll know you dropped a stitch when the space in between your two needles gets wider.
as for getting wider. wow this was so annoying until i figured it out. when you put your right needle under a loop to add a stitch, make sure you put ur needle onto the last row you made. do not put your needle into the previous row (the second stitch to the needle) by accident. Everytime you do this, you are adding a stitch hence the scarf getting wider. just be careful where you insert your needle :)
sorry for the long and confusing post! i wish i could post a video into the comments :( :)
Hi. Id like to know if the Rib stitch and the Brioches one, are the same.
Hi Rapha! They are actually different. You may want to check out my Honeycomb brioche stitch to see a bit more. Thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/video/1dZcFepFw0M/v-deo.html
Could this be used on a super bulky yarn?
yes of course
Can we do 2 x 2 rib but in 2 colors?
Hi, I've been trying this but the design just doesn't show. I've done atleast 10 rows so far. Any advice will be helpful. Thnx
So you have to use a long tail cast on for ribbing I'm pretty sure. If you didn't it would turn out different
Hello! I have a knitting question about your 2x2 rib pattern. I have no idea why it's not working for me if it's such an easy pattern! I've been very careful to follow the k2, p2 pattern but I'm not getting any ribs. I've tried using a 4mm needle and a 5mm needle but it makes no difference. I've started over countless times just it case I messed up. My pattern calls for a selvedge stitch, I don't know if maybe that's what's causing it not to work. Can you please help me?? I'm desperate!
K2, P2 in multiple of 4+3 stitches *K2, P1* for last 3 stitches repeat until you reach your desired length
When adding a selvedge stitch you need to one more stitch to the pattern so an example of this is 32 stitches for the multiple of 4. Add 3 more stitches at the end for the pattern (K2, P1) and the number of stitches becomes 35. A selvedge stitch adds one stitch to the pattern and now you have 36 stitches. Hope this helps.
If you used a cast on method different than the long tail cast on, like you may have used the thumb method. Then your piece will turn out differently. Hope this helps
pls help I NEED. a 3x3 Stitch rib pattern
Why wooden needles?
I tried this but it didn't work. I knitted 2, then purled 2. It came out just like the garter stitch. I'm just going to give up on knitting. 😭
If you didn't long tail cast on you probably thumb casted on, which creates the garter stitch
i know this is a year ago but i had a similar issue. It might be because you didnt cast on a multiple of 4. If you just did any even number, you dont knit the purls and purl the knits :')
With longer amount of stitches such as 64 how do you remember what you have just done
If the yarn is in the front when you finish a stitch, you just knitted a purl. If it's at the back, you just knitted a knit
My rib is flat what do I do?
❤️
And oh please comment too.
why do u have to do 4 x 4?
Because you are k2, p2. This creates four stitches, so do it in increments of 4 otherwise you won't have a full pair of k2p2. Sorry this might be confusing, but I hope it helps
Went too quickly!
