I've always wanted to own a home, just a little house with a garden, where I can live comfortably and safely and never have to move again. It's a simple dream, but one I have had to give up since becoming disabled. I grieve it still and it's easy to slip into bitterness. I don't quite know how to let it go.
Just wanting to let go of it is your starting point, keep searching that out. Good things will come of it🎉

Living frugally is not the same as being a "cheapskate". Life is about experiences with our loved ones not about showing off what we own. I grew up and saw both wealthy living but then it was followed by poverty after my father passed away when I was 14 years old. As an adult I refuse to take anything for granted especially the time with our loved ones. Money is only a tool. Blessfully I'm content, and I can sleep fairly peacefully without worrying about how to pay off debt for items that could have already been long forgotten. 🌷🌷🌷
Good to see you, Ana 😊. Almost my entire wardobe has been purchased at Thrift Stores. I am surprised how many items still have the original tags on them.
I am always a fan of the cheaper options or deals, everything is included 😂. I just like living within my means

I totally subscribe to that point of view. It is the most liberating feeling.
It is liberating! Spot on. When I “want” something I weigh it in my mental checklist and it’s so much easier when I just say to myself, “does this want give me the peace from staying in my means?” If not, I move on🌺 That is liberating 🥳

Yes, frugality as a lifestyle and honesty about needs vs wants can go long way. This is liberating, indeed! In the end of the day, the price tag doesn’t define the quality of my life or my overall happiness:). Right now I am working on the idea and the feeling of “enough” and in the moments I manage to get into the state of “enoughness” I feel like a millionaire, no joke …;))
Great video 🎉 I'm practicing minimalism. I have 41 items of clothing. My grocery is less than 50$ a week for 2. No debt except car. I paid cash for 3 amazing trips this year!🎉🎉 I look forward to more videos.

Dear Anna that was very interesting, I was happy to find your video again after the weekend. I dont have a much of an opinion on money. I am lucky that my partner has a good pay. But I work too. We both have a hard physical job. After a good year in my company, I was able ti buy what I always wanted and now I am continuing to work quite hard. But at the wnd of the day, I am so tired that I cant even go for a walk or sit in our garden, just wanting to sleep. My whole body is hurting. Now I am ať the point where I have to decide, continue to work line this and buy thinks I couldnt have before or work less and do what I used to love in my free time because I had the energy. Sorry this is long but whom else to tell this...have a great day.

Hello Ana. Thanks for your video. I live on a very low income, and sometimes I find it difficult to buy all the things that I need. Living costs in Australia have risen dramatically in the past 2 years or so. However, I am very good at keeping my food costs to a minimum. I am lucky now that I belong to a community garden which I have put a lot of work into. I buy very few vegetables now - most I get from the garden.
No, money doesn't buy happiness, but not having enough money sometimes makes me unhappy. I can't afford to go on holidays for instance. But I am grateful that I live in a reasonably nice rented apartment. I'm looking for opportunities to supplement my income so that I can broaden my life a bit.
You are so right. All you have said are fundamental truths.
"cheaper yet still quality options" totally agree, because sometimes with something cheap and with bad quality you will eventually spend more money buying the thing twice or more times. At the end price could be high or low and that alone doesn't tell anything about quality.
I agree with you dear Ana. Money is security and freedom. No worries how to pay bills. And yes, money can make you happy to a certain extent, because if you have a lot you can choose where, with whom and how you spend your time and time is a very valuable currency for me. Even if you have a "normal" income, once in a while you can use the money for nice experiences. Having said that, money is important, but not the most important (example: health, spending quality time with your loved ones). I guess money can be seen as a good or a bad thing. For me money is energy. Good video, thank you 😊

I agree with you completely. I refuse to spend hundreds of euros on make up and hair setting every week,, for example, but here in my country, attending anywhere without having your hair styled professionally is considered disrespectful. In court you need not only wear a suit but a fashionable one, complete with coiffure and make up. On the graduation of my daughter I did my own hair and make up but there were parents with Chanel suits and hairdos that cost an arm and a leg. My daughter recently told me that my humble appearance had made her shy! That is what modern society is for you! So it takes courage to live by your own principles! It is definitely not easy.
So much pressure based on appearance. It's interesting that your daughter felt shy about it, my dad is a construction worker and I never felt anything negative when he showed up at my high school full of dust, it was nothing to feel embarrassed about.
@@CrisOnTheInternet exactly! My father was a manual labourer too and I always felt just safety and security in his regard. No shame. The more we teach them and give them the more they trash us!

My financial situation broke me. I lost sight of who I really am. I'm bitter, resentful, angry and depressed. I've tried so hard over last 20 years to make my dream happen and all I want in life is a tiny cottage with a garden and rescue animals, and things just do not happen for me. I do often wonder what is a point in all this. Last couple of weeks I've been thinking about van life and think that's my only option right now.
I really appreciate your videos. I like hearing bits of a different childhood than I had. Thank you for sharing.

Great advice. My parents remained frugal throughout their lives even when they no longer needed to. There was a simplicity to life but also happiness as they didn’t care about the status symbols of the neighbours. Neighbours who lost their home eventually because of debt. You have a fascinating life despite obstacles you face. Staying liquid I think will give you much freedom in life. But I do agree, money does give security and security gives a person peace. Wishing the best for you always.

Thanks for your work. All the points mentioned by you in the video work for me. Nope, I was not always that smart - life taught everything, but I'm grateful for the experience. though some points like "being debt-free" was kinda of always in me by default :D Now even having no huge money I feel safe, which is much more important than just earning big sums and worrying how I look like and where to buy those "money-suckers".
I've got a little question: Why did you have to move to Tbilisi? What was the reason?
I feel for people that live through such terrible times. In a lot of situations staying and leaving would both be unpleasant options. I'm an Aussie and haven't had to live through anything so life changing. But my heart goes out to those that do. Am I right in guessing that what you say at the end of your videos, it sounds like puka puka to me, is your native equivalent of bye bye? I think it's likely that you end in your native tongue. Dear Ana, interesting topic. If we look at time it hilights the money issue and adds perspective. Some people never have time, they seem to consume it. Others, though busy, have time to help, to practise music or mmeditate regulary. Time can be measured, but it can be streched endless and it can be intensified. Is it not similar with money?

Hi Ana, I thought this was an excellent video with insightful ideas and great suggestions! I do believe, as you said, that despite our money troubles, gratitude is well worth cultivating in our lives. I have always been an excellent "money manager" of my earnings and savings, but over the years I've realized that that skill comes from seeing the world through a lens of scarcity. I'd very much like to foster more of of a sense of abundance but don't really know how. The former is a fearful feeling while the latter promotes confidence and wellbeing. I've read a little about the food shortages of the 1990s in Russia. It must have been terrible. Lastly, I thought about your opening challenge to describe my feelings toward money. Mine would be, as Oliver Twist would say "please sir, can I have some more?"
