- Hello everyone! Today I bring you one of the most celebrated cello teachers of today! Jens Peter Maintz, teacher in Berlin and Madrid. We talk about Bach, articulation, bow grip... cello technique and many other things. Hope you enjoy the episode!
The video about how I hold the bow : • HOW I IMPROVED MY SOUN...
Hello everyone! I leave you in the description the video J.P mentions in the beginning, about my bow grip. Hope you enjoyed this great episode!
Thanks Pablo! 🙏 really interesting and helpful
What a fantastic human being Jens Peter Maintz is. His students are certianly lucky to have him as a teacher!
Amazing cello talk thank you, what about next talking cello with Marcin Zdunik?
love this series! Thanks for doing this Pablo!!
Always wanted to learn more about J.P Maintz since I saw a video of him playing Passacaglia but for two cellos ! Thank you Pablo for the wonderful episode. Best wishes from Dhaka ,Bangladesh.
Still in the process of watching but I wanted to say how well produced your videos are. They're incredibly clear and well lit, with great audio. On your end at least. It's clear you put a lot of work in.
Edit: Also for a future talk I would love to see Zlatomir Fung. I know he's quite active online, and talks about learning regularly.
Thanks a lot ! :)
I learned so much from this ! Thank you Jens Peter and Pablo!
Always overjoyed to see a new instalment of this series! Even for me as a very new player there's always something I get out of it, be it concrete stuff to add to my practice or broader concepts. Thank you guys! :)
Genial entrevista....
Muchas cosas en poco tiempo...
Enhorabuena a los dos!!!🙂🙂
Qué interesante !! Otra vez ! Muy merecida la entrevista a Maintz ¡ bravo ! Gracias 🙏🏼
MIL MILLONES DE GRACIAS PABLO por todas las charlas, que nos ayudan bastante la verdad...
This is amazingly good. Learned so much to apply to my novice playing. Gosh, Pablo, your effort in doing these virtual workshops/interviews are so good and getting better. I loved J. P.’s insight! Don’t stop! 🙏🏾😊✌🏾
I've been loving the "talking cello" series; thanks for bringing it to us! Would you consider doing a video on things to look for before buying a new bow? :)
Una charla muy interesante, gracias por compartirla. Espero con ganas escucharte Shostakóvich 2, mucho ánimo
Feuillard Nr 16! :D Working on this right now....It's killing my fingertips.
Great Talk, as always! I'm learning so much for improving on technique and attacking practice with the right mindset. Thank you
Jens Peter Maintz demuestra en tu fantástica entrevista una calidad y calidez humana, chelística y pedagógica pocas veces vista.
Thank you so much Pablo✨👍🌼
As always, great video Pablo! In February I had the opportunity to hear this man at Cello Duello concert in Graz, it was fabulous, I was suprised how good you can be at cello techniques, it was so memorable and amazing concert!
Thank you very much!
@@Cellotown Looking forward to hear You again🙂

He has a photo of Feuermann on the wall! Respect✨
Love it. Thank you so much for those wonderful and helpful interviews.
Q: what’s the edition of Bach suites that he mentioned he loved the most that published around 2000?
Many thanks 🙏
Breitkopf & Härtel
Mil gracias!!
28:23 very interesting. I wonder if he is referring to „Finger- und Bogenübung“
Great insight i watched it a lot.
Thx 🙏 Pablo for doing these talks
The title of the book I mentioned is: „Mechanik und Ästhetik des Violoncellospiels“
@@Cellotown Wow, zu lieb. Danke für die Antwort Jens. Sieht vielverpsrechend aus, werde sobald wie möglich es mit meiner Lehrerin besprechen.
Very nice interview and fine suggestions. I would also urge viewing the Cello Academy videos of Harvey Shapiro,
and also listen to some of his performances posted on UA-cam- e.g., the Rachmaninoff Sonata with Earl Wild, Schelomo with Leopold Stokowski, and the cello solo in the third movt. of the Brahms Second Piano concerto with Rubenstein and Krips. He was, in my humble estimation one of the very greatest cellist musicians and teachers of cello technique (as opposed to 'facility') for interpreting a specific piece and its stylistic underpinnings. He had a great command of sonority and the subtleties and nuances that derive from it. He was also on the one hand tough and blunt- but if you understood his motivation and intention- a delight- and on the other hand very caring of his students.
Hello, I love your videos, Thank you. But I could wish that you could intervju some baroque cellist, and talk about the difference between playing the baroque cello, difference. between gut and steel strings and more. I am myself retired from 35 years as cellist in the Norwegian opera, and I now only play baroque cello and love it. Kind regards and stay safe.
Great!
Hey- great video! To me the length of the endpin also depends on the kind of energy you have in you 😅 the more pressure/power the longer the endpin is my impression .. so to me it kind of depends on the day🙃
Thank you for doing this .. the whole series is crucially helpful.. could you please write the composer’ name of that exercise no.16..
thanks
L.R. FEUILLARD "Daily Exercises".
@@anam.clavijo329 thanks a lot
which pieces is he referring to in the following 33:59 ??
18:56 Did Jens Peter Maintz say Robert Schumann was a cellist ?
Does anyone know anything about this (where he studied, with whom, when) ?
Pablo, you have a belgian bridge and it looks like it stands up straight. I had one replaced because it was bowed over, and now the replacement is bowed over... how do you get a belgian bridge to stand up???
Did he mention Feuillard Etudes No.16? I could not find the Piece.
Feuillard „Daily Exercises“ No. 16
pablo i never see you talk about gautier capucon could you do an episode with him?
