Got married in 2019 & my wedding was about 5k! Granted it was a 100 guests but I think after 2020, vendors just started to gauge people.
My wedding dress cost £250 & everyone thought it was over £1k! It was beautiful, I couldn’t believe it when I found it online. To this day no one knows it wasn’t custom made. My budget was 2k so I was gassed😅
For the girl to say no self respecting woman would want to just go to a registry shows she can’t think out of her own perspective.
I’ve realised Nigerians are very on pulling performances no matter what and live off others peoples perspectives.
If someone decides to go to the registry that’s their own.Doesn’t mean they don’t have respect for themselves. They’re probably being smart and not living above their means.
A lot of these people will spend mad money on a wedding just to look good in others eyes but then will go sleep in their parents home or back in their rented property.
Whether it’s only registry, trad or white wedding, we should mind our own and support.
Firstly, the girl is me LOL. Secondly, my whole platform exists so that we can become more open minded about weddings and support each other (married or not) so I definitely can see others perspectives (doesn’t mean I have to agree btw) . However I am realistic and also understand that £10k unfortunately is becoming an unrealistic figure for weddings in the UK EVEN for registry at times. The narrative that small means less is annoying because some people can go registry and spend more on their rings alone than others spend on their weddings with 300+ guests.
I love being Nigerian and I don’t necessarily agree with you on that, it’s a celebration that you only get to do once in a life time so equally people shouldn’t be penalised for having a big wedding if they want one.

I totally agree, I feel like this statement was poorly said, this is meant to be a platform from my understanding that is creating a safe space for the married and unmarried to express their desires, concerns and views etc the host seems very boastful, to say "A self respecting woman" as if spending 60K has added value to her as a woman is ridiculous. As the presenter and host please be mindful of how you express and touch on topics such as money. You may potentially deter a woman that has chosen to have a registry wedding to come and touch on their experience. This is just feedback, otherwise the concept of the show is great.
I agree with you. Everyone shouldn’t have a microphone. That was a very rude and dumb comment she made and shows she’s not that smart. Woman go to the registry route everyday , that doesn’t mean she’s not self-respecting. Like what type of elementary level thought process was that?

10k budget? It is well. For me personally I believe if you can save for it do it! But remember there is life after your wedding. Cut your cloth according to your size. Budget not just for your wedding but for life after. Where will you live? Where is your honeymoon? Budget for all thoseeee. That to me is worth 60k. But then again that is why I am getting married in Nigeria- cuts everything in half.
60k is just not okay. You can have a low budget wedding and it still be luxurious, you’ve just got to know the loopholes. My wedding was 15k. There’s a lot of people saying that you need to do certain at your wedding and you literally don’t need to. Your wedding do what you want have what you want.
Why is this not ok? I’m also spending 60k on my wedding. My money my budget 😅thank God everyone has a different incomes.
As for your comment on having good credit to loan 100k. I'm 19 (yes I know) and my credit is 846 because of my trust fund and I pay my bills (subscriptions) on time. Someone having good credit may just be by chance or their parents in my case it's my mother. So yeah if they have loaned 100k hmmm I wouldn't advise it. I am never taking a loan for my wedding. There is life afterwards!!!
