- I'm using happy mail with a second, fun eclectic project! So two eclectic junk journals at once! Join me and learn how to choose papers, find ephemera, and create a unique junk journal with this inspirational video. I’m so excited to see the journal you’re going to make with the papers. Love the additional ones you’ve chosen to use. Thank you so much for your encouragement and teaching that you do. You give us so much that helps us be better artists. Love the comparison of a journal to impressionist paintings. Such a good way to think of it. The wallpaper in the package was the vintage wallpaper from my mother-in-law’s estate.

Wow, Kathleen! Fabulous Happy Mail! Can't wait to see how these eclectic journals come together! Thanks for the tip about using the iron-on transfers as a stamp. I was gifted a dozen or so embroidery patterns and was wondering what would be the best way to use them in journals. I will give it a try. Thanks for another informative video. I love this series.

Such beautiful things Linda sent you. I also love green and knew that about you, I read the other day that our eyes see more shades of green than any other color. Wonder if that’s one of the reason it’s so appealing to us

My brain naturally wants to play it safe with "matchy-matchy" and yet I look at how you arrange these pieces and see how well everything plays together in the end! I now want to challenge myself to try something more eclectic!

PS....I see you are using a book cover that has no spine. The project I am working on now has that same thing and I am trying to figure out the best way to create a spine. Would you be able to show your process in how you will be creating a spine for that journal?!?!!

I have filmed ahead on this series, so the process has passed for the cover, sadly. I’m sorry. BUT, I do have an old video of making another spine for a different book a couple of years ago. It is in the playlist on covers for journals, and there is another video for making an open spine lace cover as well in there that might be an option for your journal - but here is a link to this similar spine. It has a second part that finishes the cover, but this video shows how to construct the new spine, which is what I did with this cover. I glued the cardboard on top of this current journal, however, instead of gluing it underneath. I make them both ways frequently. This doesn’t make much sense, haha - just watch this video and I hope it helps. I will try to do a future video of how I made the spine for this eclectic journal. Good question Elaine, but I don’t know the answer. I don’t remember her mentioning one. Linda is always quick to answer a comment though, so if you ask in a comment on her latest video, I’ll bet she will answer quickly.
