Thanks for the run through of the board setup, I'm looking to get a Metro 16 and was looking for examples for power units. @ 12:30 reminds me of Mad Season - River Of Deceit. Nice, thanks again.
Thanks for watching! This is a few years old now and I think there are more options on the market for suitable power supplies that will fit under the metro, so definitely worth doing some homework. Good luck! 🤟
Excellent video. Thanks. I'm building my first board for a busking gig. Trying to go compact and easy to set up and break down. Hoping the Metro 16 would be big enough for me.
Thanks for watching! This video is probably pretty out of date by now, and I'm sure there are other newer options on the market, but I'm glad it was useful. Good luck on your board build 🤟
Just found this video while planning to downsize my board. Thank you so much for the helpful video! In my research, I found that the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power X8 has a similarly low profile to the Ojai (1" compared to the Ojai's 1.15"). Just wanted to put that out there in case it's helpful to someone who wants to put a lot of pedals on a smaller board (like me lol)
Thanks Andy. The metro 16 has been ideal for me and hasn't changed since I made this video. It easily fits in hand luggage or a backpack too so very portable. Well worth considering. Cheers!
@@AlShieldsMusic No probs that's cool. I'll have to velcro voodoo labs on to top on board. I am down sizing my board anyways to the metro 16 so I'm sure I'll be able to make it work with power supply on top of the board.👍
Hey, how are you finding the Tre-Verb? I can't decide whether to go for it or not, especially as its a 2 in 1 pedal and I'm looking to make a compact board. Thanks!
Hi Thomas, thanks for watching. if I'm honest I might go back to separate reverb and tremolo pedals or upgrade to the Strymon flint at some point. The tremolo is fine but there are better reverbs out there, and the tap function on the trem side isn't as user friendly as I'd like. Good if you're on a smaller budget though.
Al Shields Thanks for the reply! Yeah when I’ve listened, the Tremolo sounds amazing but the reverb is a little lacking, especially if you’re using a fender amp like mine. I think I’ll keep it in mind but do some more research. Thanks again!
Thanks for watching. You're not dumb, you're normal! Boards like this aren't ideal, unless you can leave a lot of the pedals on all the time. This was only put together due to size/logistical restrictions. Bigger boards with more space are always preferable.
Hi Rich! Thanks for watching! Sorry for the delayed response, but the dimensions of the Pedaltrain Metro boards mean that a standard-size crybaby or vox wah would stick out past the top of the board by a few inches. Hope this helps 🙂🤟
Hi Richard, thanks for commenting and apologies I only just saw this. It's very close, but there is just enough clearance that the power brick doesn't touch the floor, although ideally there could be a little more.
Wait until you’re on a live gig, in the moment, when you go to step on one of those effects and you kick the knobs of the other one that’s laying horizontally in front of it. Sorry, just because you can cram all those pedals on a pedalboard doesn’t mean it’s gonna work for you when you’re live in the moment.
Thanks for commenting! I used this board regularly for a full 7 months without issue, until gigs stopped due to covid. Obviously some players will require a different layout to suit their own needs, but that's each individual's responsibility to recognise. The aim here was to keep the board as compact as possible for a fly date, and power it effectively. It's certainly not the ideal setup.
Hi Tom! The R30 does fit under the metro 16 but it's close! the clearance of the rubber feet is minimal. I used cable ties in this video, but if I had used velcro or dual lock, I think the extra few millimetres would have put the Ojai past the feet. Hope this helps 🤟
I actually play in a band with a guy that uses one of those sometimes. The drive section is surprisingly decent, but I prefer being able to switch pedals in and out as I need them, depending on who I'm playing with. I'm sure it has its uses, but its not something I need 🙂

Thumbs up for the american sound 👍

this is just what I'm looking for! something that can do roughly 6-7 pedals, thanks for the video.

This is awesome and totally helps! Thanks

Awesome, thanks! This video is a couple of years old now, so cheers for providing some updated and useful info!
@@AlShieldsMusic Hey is the Strymon in the moment best option für a small board for the big space of pedals? ANd work it good? Thank you and have fun
Well done! I'm downsizing my board right now to the Metro 16. Tired of carrying around a larger, heavier board.
Thanks Lou! Good luck with your new board 🤟🤟🤟
I searched for Big Muff and your face pops up!? ¡¿
Cool video Al. Well done 👍
Nice video, thinking about this board for a scaled down board.
Thanks Andy. The metro 16 has been ideal for me and hasn't changed since I made this video. It easily fits in hand luggage or a backpack too so very portable. Well worth considering. Cheers!
nice video Al, keep it up
Nice vid
Awesome vid ! Subbed !
ive been playing guitar for two yrs ive been thinking about get some pedals here recently
DO IT! It can be a bit of a rabbit hole, but a lot of fun to be had. Thanks for the comment!

Gamer Guy
What are you thinking about getting dude?
what is the dimension of that space you are mounting the power supplies onto?
Will a voodoo labs 2 power supply fit underneath the board?
Hi Danny, unfortunately that power supply is too big to fit under the metro without modifying or replacing the rubber feet on the board.

Hi thanks for sharing this video. Do you think a Cioks Schizophrenic will fit under the Metro 16?

Cause I am dumb I cannot set up pedals that close to each other. I end up kicking the wrong one all the time. My boards are never that compact.

is the height enough to fit a wah?
Hi Rich! Thanks for watching! Sorry for the delayed response, but the dimensions of the Pedaltrain Metro boards mean that a standard-size crybaby or vox wah would stick out past the top of the board by a few inches. Hope this helps 🙂🤟
To me it looks like the power supply sits taller than the rubber feet?

Does it fit underneath the voodoolab pedal power?
Hi Reyland! To my knowledge, Voodoo Labs do not currently make a power supply small enough to fit under the Metro 16.
Al Shields thanks for the quick response! Sub to your channel!
Hi. Voodoolab pedalpower x4 is fit with the Metro 16.
Where did you get that hat, m8
Hey! The cap is just a generic trucker cap from Amazon. I got the Total Recall patch from Ebay and stitched it on myself :)
Ditch all that and grab a NU X Cerberus....you can thank me later
