The intention and cadence of the voice, the guitar riff is so elegant, the change in the chorus.... the orginal lyrics are amazing but that song is pure perfection. Neil is a beast.

Wow! I hovered over the play button, as the original is my favourite track of all time, and I was fearing disappointment. I shouldn't have worried, fantastic. Thanks for sharing

The original is awesome but the slower pace of this version really works too, it's great. I like it when artists put their own spin on a track. Trying to make an exact copy of the original is pointless.

Neil had some inspiration form this song for the original version of Your Daddy's Car.

Such a great famous hit by the Smiths. I will always love this song. Because atleast they both die together in love lol.

I think it sounds very dramatic romantic and being killed together very beautiful really. Not a terrible Miserable song. Not like I Know It's Over, How Soon Is Now, and Heaven Knows I'm Miserable now. Now those songs are awfully depressing as hell. The fact of never gonna be loved and alone and will die are by far the worst kind of songs that I can't Image how some one can bare to listen to those.
That's just me. But atleast this song has two things positive in. They both die happily in love and that there is a light that never goes out is so hopeful that they get sent to heaven. That's my take on the song.
I prefer this song and others like This Charming Man, Ask, The Boy With The Thorn in his side, and Stop Me If You Think You've heard this one before. Morrissey amazing insane voice. There much easier
    to listen to.

Only The Divine Comedy could make this their own. The chorus is better than the original, the lyric remains the same. It's so cheesy it isn't.

Its some achievement for someone to make this song sound even more miserable than Mozzer's version! 😅 But Hannon has managed it!!

(Edited to remove drunken ramblings) I love this version. The way the violins go ‘up’ on the last verse into “their is a light “ is beautiful.

I agree that this version is fantastic (and very, very nearly better than the original), but to lambast The Smiths for "never thinking of this arrangement" is a bizarre statement, as they wrote the bloody thing! The song is so supreme that maybe Neil decided to give it his own style?

I've always loved this song and prefer Divine Comedy's music always. The lead singer has such better lyrics then Morrissey. Morrissey's lyrics are suicidal, loneliness, and not being loved lyrics and plus he has sick dark sense Of humour as well.
But never minded this song. Let's just say I like some from The Smiths such as this one and his solo work as well.
    That's just me though.
