I have this exact sewing machine. I love it!! The throat space is amazing. It stitches 1500 stitches a minute. I had it shipped to me and it came very well packed, nothing was damaged, it was in perfect shape. You will love this machine. Go for it!

I have the Brother 1500s and its fantastic. Love, love, love it. I use it for piecing and for free motion quilting. It will sew fast or slow, always produces a high quality stitch, and there's plenty of room to quilt a good size quilt!

      Thank you so much!
Because my table is at hip-height, I find it easier to sew standing up rather than sitting and standing constantly. It's something I've come accustomed to and love it! :)

Amanda I know it must be hard for you to go to work and do the quilt alongs. Maybe just some more single blocks that people can make more of and put them together for a quilt but you don’t do the whole quilt. Also love your hauls and monthly favorites. One more suggestion - film a little bit for several days and put into one posting. I enjoy everything you! Have a great week! ❤️

How lovely you are going to buy a new sewing machine. You deserve it! It took me 1 and a half year with thinking and reading reviews before I ordered mine, A Pfaff Performance 5,2 online, I am very happy with that. My old machine was a 30 year old Singer. My new machine came in the mail and no problems :-) I am looking forward to more Vlogs from you, more quilting tutorials and also to see your new sewing machine when it arrives. Defently an unwrapping Vlog right there ;-) lol
Would love to to join another quilt along with you. I did your last one, brillian! Suggestions: Maybe tutorials on quilting on a home domestic sewing machine? Would love to learn more about paper piecing, stichery, making a MorningStar quilt.
    Enjoy your sewing mojo

That Rose quilt is amazing and I love the cross quilt. Re the machine I would ask your local dealer to get it in even if you have to wait because then you have back up. I like any content sewing or daily vlogs anything really, you do what you feel like it's your channel if people aren't interested in a particular video they don't have to watch that one.

I have purchased my current machine online from Amazon and it was packaged really securely and was in perfect condition when I received it. I've owned it for about a year now and use it several hours each week. It still works AMAZING, although it's due for a yearly service.

Lovely plus-sign quilt top, well done Amanda! I had not heard of the Brother PQ1500SL machine until I heard it from you, and then the Quilting Marine. Like him, I had coveted the Juki one that looks very similar. But the Brother is half the price (in Canada online, at least it is). Now *that's* the machine for me. As soon as I de-clutter my house, that is my promised-to-myself reward. I wouldn't worry about the sewing machine "travelling in the post". I mean, whenever a sewing machine store order their inventory, theirs too have to travel via the post. I think those types of items are well packed for that very reason. I like your Spotlight fabric haul! I wish we had that store chain here. (We have the American "Michael's" craft stores, but they don't carry fabric. So I have to order most of my fabric online, which is tricky for colour matching. And includes the US-Canada exchange rate uplift and shipping costs more to Canada). Keep your video's coming, love them! ~Diana from Toronto

Amanda, I have the Brother PQ1500 that you are wanting. I ordered mine from Sam's Club here in the US. It was only $599 USD at the time I bought mine. It was sent to me via United Parcel Service. There were no problems with shipping and everything was intact. I love the PG1500. It is a more heavy duty straight stitch only, not computerized. It does have to be oiled often, but that is the mechanical part of it. I think you will enjoy it.

It is never to early for me to start Christmas things. I usually end up giving mine as gifts and never have one myself. I did manage to have a Ten Minute Table runner in Christmas fabric for this year. Made about 20 bowl cozies. I do have a few myself, but they are my first ones and some are a little less than perfect. Actually none are perfect. But I keep trying.

I have a very inexpensive Brother CE1100PRW. The biggest problem I find with it is that not every shop that carries sewing notions don't carry accessories for Brothers. I would check how available they are for that machine. It is a lovely machine. I went to JoAnne's to buy bobbins and found the only place in my area that carried them was Walmart. I don't know if those names mean anything to you, but here in our part of Texas we don't have a lot of shops.

Re content - I love the tutorials the most, and the vlogs. Maybe a vlog on a quilt from start to finish - how you picked the pattern, the fabric, the cutting out - less tutorial and more talky/decision? Might be useful for newer quilters looking to understand the creative process. Just an idea though :)

Hello from Fort Worth, TX. I love your videos and am enjoying your vlogs. A suggestion that I have is if you want to do a quilt a long, maybe do a mini quilt so that it is smaller and doesn't take up so much time. I would also like to know your process on picking out fabrics for your projects. Like how you decided when to use solids or patterns or both as this is something that I struggle with. Your tutorials are fantastic and very thorough. I also like the favorites you do once a month.

    • @AmandaRolfe

Cathie, your awesome suggestion of doing a Mini Quilt Quilt Along has inspired me to do one!! I've already chosen nine mini blocks I want to do and I've done a really rough draft mock up of the quilt! Thank you for such a great idea!! I'll definitely be able to manage mini blocks! Watch this space!!
As to the other things you mentioned, I'll try my best to weave them into a vlog or tutorial through out the year...

Amanda, don't you have Ebay in Australia? You can find either the Brother or the Juki (which for all practical purposes are identical) for $650.00! With regard to shipping concerns I have bought and sold machines with no problems upon arrival. I even got my Long Arm shipped. Now to continue watching the video ;-) I wanted to ask are you looking into the brother machine because that is what your other machine is? I don't know how much it would cost for shipping but even if it were $100 it's still less than the $1700.00. Content wise I enjoy watching you regardless so whatever you choose to do is just fine with me. BTW what are you going to do when you run out of wall space??

    • @AmandaRolfe
      @AmandaRolfe  6 років тому

I chose to go with Brother because it's a brand that I trust (and sell with confidence at work) and I've had extensive training with numerous Brother reps over the years. They've always been the best company to contact and work with.
Thanks to for the info about the machine. We do have eBay in Australia, but I've never used it before so I'm not 100% confident with purchasing items from there.
Since filming and uploading this vlog, I've actually purchased the machine from a very reliable and helpful company and I couldn't be happier!!! :D

I’ve ordered 3 machines online (1 brother, 1 Pfaff, 1 Janome) and they all arrived perfectly. I was also worried about them arriving safely but they were really well packaged so I’m sure you’ll be fine. Just check the machine thoroughly as soon as it arrives to be doubly sure. Really interested to see how you find the straight stitch only machine! A lot of quilters use them. Juki is also meant to be a great brand for straight stitch machines, do you have those in Australia? I don’t know how the price compares to the brother ones. So excited for you! Getting a new machine is 😍! x

    • @AmandaRolfe

Yes, we have Juki Machines here...I've never used them before though, so it wasn't a brand that I instantly searched for. Although, I'm pretty sure I'm one of those quilters who are loyal to one brand only... Brother had the exact machine I wanted, with all the accessories I was looking for and was in a price range that I was hoping for. It was just meant to be!!! :D

Can you do a video with tips and tricks on squaring up your quilted quilt? I don't have a lot of table space, so I always feel at a loss for how to square up my quilt at that stage. Hi Amanda, do you quilt all your quilts yourself or have you ever had them done with a long arm .
The brother machine your thinking of, theirs a babylock machine just like that, I know that is a good machine, so I’m sure that you would be happy with the brother.
Hair looks real good down..always enjoy your videos...thank you for another wonderful video.
You are 17 hours ahead of where I live, it’s still Saturday here.

I'm interested in any videos you want to make. I've loved all your content. I enjoyed quilting tutorials of yours because you are very good at teaching them. I like the close up footage showing exactly what to do. But I'm like you. I like to wear many hats.
So hurry up! More videos, more videos! Hehe 🤗🤓

NO NO STOP - I just checked that machine here in the US and I found the EXACT same machine for === 599 USD = 754.5603 AUD on Amazon and that is too much difference it is DOUBLE THE PRICE!!! - something is not right for there to be that much price difference - and that was not the cheapest I found it but I went with Amazon because I know you have Amazon there

You should make the content that makes you happy to make! If you’re not feeling a quilt-a-long this year, don’t do it.

Your quilts are beautiful!!! I would enjoy any quilt project you’d like to do. Your favorites are nice. Can you contact by phone the online shop you’re thinking about purchasing your machine from and inquire about the packaging of the machine? BJ

Echidna is a fantastic company. Their after sales service is amazing. I use to live in Outback Queensland and had my $6000 brother embroidery machine sent to me from Victoria. It arrived safely with no problems. I use to send my machines to Townsville for servicing all the time. Never any problems. Best of luck. You quilts are amazing 💕
