Khaki word comes from the word khak meaning dirt or soil the khaki color was chosen because the British Indian soldier used to walk in dry dirt soil a lot so instead of washing your pants all the time the pants were dyed with color of the soil. The khaki color is still used by indian police widely. The chino as much I know is rough fabric similar to khaki similar to jute fabric while khaki is considered smooth.

Excellent knowledge my friend! Chino has certainly seen a great variety of interpretation in the modern world, but yes, the rougher fabric knit at the time was what a true chino constituted. Taking your comment a step further, we still see khaki utilized by most military forces worldwide (though many have gone to dress uniform such as the US Navy). Some of the most comfortable pants I ever wore were khakis from the United States in WW2 which serves as a testament to their legacy. Thanks for the comment mate, and cheers!

What subjects are you interested in discussing? Most of my knowledge comes from the 1800's to1950's. There are many great subjects to study!
