Some Indian immigrants also sabotage their chances of moving back home. I knew a Marathi Brahmin colleague who converted to Islam in Germany to marry his Iranian girlfriend, his parents in India don't want him back anymore.
I don't think us Indians really know exactly what 'integrating into a foreign culture' means. It doesn't mean just learn the language, respect local laws, then keep having your native food, keep celebrating your native culture and keep holding events with other Indians, as this video seem to suggest. That's just you doing the bare basic minimum necessity to function, not get into legal trouble and retaining your native culture. You have to go out of your way to do all of that in the local culture to claim to assimilate. You have to go get involved with culturally German activities. Trying to learn their art, dances, singing, cooking and actually practicing it and being involved in those cultural communities. You don't assimilate into foreign culture by inviting them to your festivals, you assimilate by participating and celebrating in their festivals. Appreciating our own culture and inviting them to appreciate our culture is not what we call assimilation.
This video was not about how are they assimilating into the German Culture. This was really about them making a home away from their Native country. Indians really do participate in German festivals and activities. Christmas is celebrated everywhere. Everyone waits for the markets to open up. So yeah, Indians really do assimilate. Also don't forget Germans are notoriously not easy to become close friends with. The only hurdle is actually language, and if anyone is learning the language well, there is really no issue.

They are over-romantizing Indians out of India, not creating ghettos. Here in Canada, the Indians don’t consider themselves one; they consider themselves Punjabi, Gujaraati, Telgu, and so on. There’s almost minimal to no interaction and a high amount of disgust against other newcomers from South Asia.
Such a weird video about Indian community in Germany presented by Indians without any insights from Germans in Germany😁😁😁Bonus: the Indian English.
The reason the immigration experience of Indians in Germany is less problematic, is that it is highly selectively tailored to engineers, doctors, and highly educated individuals. This strategy is superior to mass refugee importation from war zones such as Syria or Ukraine.

Indians, as a diaspora while generally unproblematic are one of the least integrated immigrant communities. They stick to themselves and try to recreate India wherever they go.
It's like preserving a culture in a different place while interacting in the new place. So being least integrated cannot really describe this situation. Because Indians and even other foreign diaspora want to recreate their own country to preserve their culture even in other countries.
We go to Indian festivals but also celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving and 4th of July. We wish our neighbors “merry Christmas” instead of “happy holidays”. We are vegetarian and don’t drink because of religion. We still hang out at parties and drink non alcoholic beverages and water. We are very assimilated but also enjoy some of what we brought with us.
Such an ignorant comment. Indian diaspora are one of the very few migrant communities which maintains its own identity through its festivals and cultural programs and invites everybody, makes an attempt to mingle/integrate with their new homeland and cultures and most importantly contributes to society and aren't free loaders. Which other diaspora are you comparing it with ?
@@virgilasadon9889That about creating the home country seems rather like a place to be comfortable and familiar. The main reason they integrate so well is that they have a very accommodating religion (like having so many gods, and none saying "I'm the only god" etc so a few new ones is still fine and compatible). That's why they can even happily go to churches.
@@virgilasadon9889 So why cant indians stay back in India and create a great culture. what has india acheived with so much culturism???
You should visit Ontario, Canada... it looks like someone picked up an entire Indian state and just dropped it in Canada, as there are hundreds of thousand of people from India moving to Canada every year. (It is quite a cultural shock to those born in Canada to see such a sudden change in society... only 1.5 billion people back in India, waiting to move to Canada.)

So stop believing whatever you see
@@HelloNice-v9u I'm not talking about the past. But the present situation. You can Google top 10 countries for Christian persecution. Make sure you dig deep into any random incident you choose. It's factual with evidence.
@@Thoughtflux There have been some cases of violence I agree which I do condemn but you can't say every Christian in India is persecuted. India is probably one of the most safest countries for Christians in whole of Asia. The little violence that has occurred has been due to some Christian missionaries operating in India who give money and convert Hindus. We just want Hindu Population to not decline nothing else bro already a big chunk of Indian population was converted to Islam by Muslim rulers. We just want to preserve Hindu culture and at the same time we want Christians to practice their religion without any fear. I am Indian and I studied in a Catholic convent school (Many such schools are in india) and 98% of the population in the school were Hindus but we still used to go to church voluntarily. India is safe bro for Christians, please try to ignore some incidents as bad people are everywhere 🙂
@@HelloNice-v9u And there you go with unfounded conspiracy against Indian Christians! Did you bother to look for evidence? Did you bother to ask if bribing to convert is a crime then how come there is not a single legal conviction till date? Did you logically think that if Christianity is nearly 2000 years old in India then how come there are less than 3%Christians in India if conversion is all they want?
Btw, India is amongst the top 10 countries for Christian persecution. And no, you don't know because media cannot talk about it. Those people who run schools & universities are also pretty good in recording & documenting every incident. This is public information. Look it up.
I like Indian people they are very humble, resilient and claim
The ones asking why are Indians leaving their country,if it’s so developed..
Well we are a fast developing nation and things are improving rapidly in terms of infrastructure and opportunities etc.
I am fluent in German and could have easily moved to Germany, but I chose not to.
In fact, I feel people should stay back and not run away from the problems here.
The Germans didn’t flee their country after the wars, they rebuilt it. We should do that as well.
But would also point out that Indians in Germany are a highly skilled group of immigrants and Germans should rather be thankful that they are contributing and supporting their economy. Rules have been relaxed because Germany needs people. So please respect and accept the ones who are coming. We are usually a peaceful lot 😊 and respectful as well.

Good point but isn't there's a problem related to different cultures hating each other for trivial reasons in india
Being a German what I noticed about indians is that they don't tend to mingle with Europeans because of strong inferiority complex. Most of them don't even speak basic German is it too much to expect from them. Too much culturism is bad for any country. I am bit curious aren't the people in the video from the same state??? Let's not pretend. No matter what you do, you are and will be seen as a 'foreigner' in Germany. The growth opportunities in India far outpaces that of Germany. Young people who log out of India will have difficulty integrating back as no one in India will wait for them.
They're forming their own ghetto
This video was not about how are they assimilating into the German Culture. This was really about them making a home away from their Native country. Indians really do participate in German festivals and activities. Christmas is celebrated everywhere. Everyone waits for the markets to open up. So yeah, Indians really do assimilate. Also don't forget Germans are notoriously not easy to become close friends with. The only hurdle is actually language, and if anyone is learning the language well, there is really no issue.
@@geisha-12Stop lying. Even more than 100 years later, immigrants from other states of India haven't integrated in Goa. Wait till their numbers increase and their younger generations show up. Then they'll interfere with Germans just like they interfere with Goans.
