i think the reason why is because of how hard it is to put it together, and the copyright restrictions.
staying up all night going through hours of game footage to separate every single voice line just to add in whatever music i want is not ideal.
But i had fun working inside the game engine to see what secrets were used to put this together, and i took advantage of those systems to help put this together.
But seeing the end results of weeks of hard workk made this worth every single second nearly having a heart attack every time my computer screen went dark.
For now this video is fine but its definitely gonna get reviewed by atlus and they'll have the final say as to if it can stay up or not.

Well if Yaldabaoth is the reason why Nyx isn't coming back Makoto Yuki could've been freed during that time but once Yaldabaoth was defeated Makoto's soul likely went back to holding nyx off... The problem still stands that P3 protag still has no physical body to return to. But it would also explain the DLC challenges Joker faces in the velvet room against Makoto and Narukami... Their journeys concluded but Narukami likely fell into complacency leading him and likely all the investigation team as well as the still living members of the shadow operatives(aka SEES) into the prison of mementos... F
I think the sad bit about it is that atlus introduced the Elizabeth saving makoto plot in a spin-off game and just didn't do anything with it. The whole fan base believes that they'll never act on it, and sadly, they're probably right.
A lot of the people who worked on p3 have moved on at this point and are either no longer associated with atlus or are working in a different studio under sega.
It's why I always try to make it clear that what remains unconfirmed will always be that way unless atlus give the green light to make it happen.
But if you take out all the advocates who want to do something, it won't be pitched anymore.
Just like how this theory is very loose all based on the potential jose Spinoff and the inconsistencies in the story.
The saddest part about this is that those plotholes will always be plotholes unless they follow up on it. F in the chat for makoto, F in the chat for maruki and Jose's Spinoff unless they show up in persona 6 somehow

I love these theories. In my first playthrough of P5, I even questioned why we didn't see more stooges like Akechi. He showed Shido and his lackeys Mementos, and Personas, so why weren't there more? What made Maruki so above and beyond a regular persona user that he could encroach exactly like a god? Unless he was one.
This is now my head canon. Keep up the good work.
Fucking knew it. Nyarly must have been playing a long con on old Philemon. First make a bet and make it seem that’s all he wanted, next force a separation of the masses and Potential, with the persona 2 groups doing all the major work for him. Next force NYX to awaken… with humans touching things they shouldn’t. Thanks to the fact the Kirijo group was part of the Nanjo group, who had all the necessary information thanks to Kei after his two different adventures with personas. With this happening Tartarus then give more Power to Erebus and making Philemon use the Universe Arcana on one of the strongest persona users at the time. Next a World Arcana comes into light with Them fighting so many Gods like it’s the monster of the week and many old persona users slowly fade away… maybe by fighting around the world dealing with rebel persona users like Strega and the guys from persona arena games. Then Finally have Philemon act and weaken himself so much that the next game is his. 30:57

With this theory, shouldn't he also already have the answers he needs about cognitive pscience? Requiring a rank 10 s-link for Azathoth's awakening means the P5R last chapter events weren't fully planned by Maruki at the time of the Mementos fusion
There are a lot of things that don't line up with maruki in general.
Take the way he interacts with Joker, one look at Joker, and he wants to have a conversation, and somehow, he instantly believed that Joker could help him with his research?
How does that make any sense?
Apparently, he was a psychologist for that long and only just started gathering data for his research, and conviently all of his subjects are members of the phantom thieves?
One other thing, maruki talks about stopping crime as if he already knew about the cognitive world.
This means that the research he could have been doing was probably how to enter there physically, like with how the phantom thieves have the meta-nav.
He never got the metanav even though he was already using azatoths abilities, the awakening we see of azatoth during the merging of the metaverse and the outside world wasn't a persona awakening it was azatoth making himself known.
And the convo between them also makes no sense. Maruki doesn't question anything azatoth says.
He just asked azatoth if this means he the two worlds are merged. After that, he exits the old man's building.
And somehow heads straight to the depth of mementos and starts to set up all this equipment.
One other thing to note about him as well, although he may be philemon, for some reason, he's deliberately choosing not to use his true power.
My assumption is that he's probably weakened over the past 20 years of having a human form, or maybe he's another entity completely.
Also, note that the power of a world tier persona comes from all the bonds made by the wildcard user and the world acknowledging them in some way.
For Yu, it was the pursuit of truth, and for Joker, it was the world acknowledging the phantom thieves as "just," and when that happened, both were granted the power of a world class persona.
In the case of makoto yuki, he was granted a world class ability to seal away nyx when all of his social links acknowledged that he was fighting alone and they wanted to help him.
So, to have power that rivals a world tier persona, you literally can not be human.
Azatoth is not a persona you can have as your shadow, and if you put adam kodman into the picture, suddenly maruki seems like a predecessor towards humanity.
Like legends of those who came first, humans that once lived to be over 700 years old.
So if he isn't philemon, he's probably the same race of humans that we see referenced in biblical lore. I'd refer to them as "high-humans" since they're a step above humanity.
The only reason why I cut this all from the script is because it wouldn't make any sense for a high-human to be aware of nyarlathotep, let alone awaken a persona. Because they came before the current humans. So they can not be connected to the collective unconscious.
The only logical step next was that he could be philemon, and there's no rule stating that if philemons were to take human form like he's done many times before that he cannot have a persona take his call.
The most interesting of all is that it ended up being azatoth, which makes sense because philemon is technically a god tier persona with God tier powers that go far beyond what world their personas could do.
So his awakened persona would need god tier abilities, and I'd say the ability to take any power as your own is amazing as it helped him do what he needed to.
Clearly, there is a lot of missing context here, and it's obvious that this was done purposefully as the writer seems to be setting something up for some sort of jose Spinoff in the near future.
All in all, to answer your question it's easy to doubt this as being true because you've already accepted that maruki is who he claimed to be, regardless of the fact that his abilities and understanding of the cognitive world makes no sense.
It doesn't matter if he research for 50years on there no way he could have known where to go in mementos to take it over, or what a palace is, but the treasure and stealing it part makes sense.
But all the other stuff, for him to know about it, he'd need to be able to study that world while inside it.
But somehow, he did it from the outside?

Though the part about Maruki's subjects being conveniently the Phantom Thieves is explained in game, Joker and Ann mainly recommended the rest of the team to meet him; except for Futaba, Maruki's meeting with her shouldn't be a coincidence. If your theory is true this could also support it.

The main one, actually. I don't want to claim it's impossible, but It doesn't 100% make sense to me for Philemon and Maruki to be one and the same. Unlike Nyarly, Philemon and the residents of the Velvet Room are mere observers of humanity's choices. You never see them meddling in their guests' stories, correct? They shall serve as your guidance, but ultimately respect any decision you make. They shall extend a hand, but only upon your request. That's so curious! Why? The answer i have arrived at is: I effectively think of their power as borrowed and measured directly from the remaining goodness in mankind - and Phil in particular, i view as the Avatar of humanity's goodness. If they forced you to do good, it wouldn't be true goodness = it wouldn't benefit them in the slightest, their power would ultimately remain stagnant. It's also why I believe Igor could be booted out, and the Room? completely hijacked. By P5, the world has got so fucked up that the Velvet Room and its residents were at an all-time low. All speculation of course, but one that makes a lot of sense to me. We know for certain that said Residents are way more powerful than the Final Bosses the respective teams stand up against, so to me it stands to reason that perhaps it ultimately amounts to nothing if they are the ones to dispel said Final Bosses. They simply have to rely on their guests. It's why I struggle to see Philemon as Maruki - going against the policy of the Velvet Room (against directly meddling, only assist), these two not sharing the same ideology and even if Phil were that desperate, should Maruki have locked everyone in his perfect reality, true goodness would cease to be.
I 100% agree with how much of an anomaly Maruki is, however. Especially his Persona, actually... He didn't even awaken to it like most people. If anything, from the moment Azatoth started popping up, it progressively enabled Maruki's most unhealthy desires by preying on his golden heart. That sounds like textbook Nyarly temptations, if I am honest. His style is that of preying on those who feel powerless, while Phil's style is that of growing someone's heart and soul so they can brave reality on their own. Also, something i think you failed to bring up! Nyarly is Azatoth's parent haha. You did mention they are related, but it does your change your perspective when you know one is spawned from the other :D I do hope you see this seeing as i am 8 days late :) I love how convoluted and deep this franchise can be, thank you for opening my mind to so many things! ☺

Let’s say velvet room team wins at least one round and people around the world will be able to access power of their Personas. I think Nyal would use these opportunity to mess again. It would be something like jojo (never watched, but know that stray stand users exist).
Next game could be filled with combat against persona users, but ofc not wildcards and their personas would be just like regular shadows(but with some kinda new stuff), cuz I don’t think velvet team’s win would be that grandiose. If that will be true, then new team maybe will fight shadow government itself and maybe will gain new lore about phil and nyal again.
Also I saw some comment here that IT and SEES are sealed in mementos, did I miss something? (I can’t find that comment, I’m probably schizo)
Your theory would explain why the past teams from Personas 3 and 4 are never mentioned in Persona 5, much less appear (well save for that poster of Rise). If he trapped the other persona users in mementos then it would be a great way to control the opposition, the force that would ultimately stop him from plunging the world into pure chaos. I hope this means we’ll see Philemon in a new Persona game (but I hope it also means Personas 1 and 2 are re-released so I can finally try it).
Isn't Yukari also mentioned in P5 for her work as an actress/model? How she's part of the Power Rangers show in the Persona universe and stuff?

good theory. remember that persona was created because SMT 1 happened and broke off a path into smt if, which then created the cognative world. much like smt nocturne, these gods or demons like nyarlathtep are demon sponsers with no "reason" of their own but take the reason of a human, some one with the ability to have a reason. thus becoming a version of a persona of sorts.

@matagatsu Now I get where you’re going but it actually does make sense for akechi to let them in the palace when you finish the palace and he makes you wait until the 19th it’s not only because that was the best time to take down sae, but also so he could gather the police force to take you down. Now for how he let them in, all akechi had to do was let them in before he met up with the thieves to steal sae’s heart, he had all the time in the world to let them in because we aren’t stuck to his side all the time, just for one part of the day. Sorry for the rant but that’s where I think you made an error also as always the edits go hard good job dude

First video of yours I've found. It sounds like you have some points I agree with and others that seem ridiculous to me. I'll be watching the previous video before I come to my final conclusion, but my first impression is that it feels like Maruki was stealing people's freedom. Not enabling them to protect it them selves.
Here's hoping the previous video explains what I missed.
Edit: I finished the 1st video. The only thing I disagree with is Maruki BEING Philamon. Could Maruki be an attempt for more direct action, maybe. Could Maruki have a stronger connection to Philamon? Sure. Actually BEING Philamon, no.
I'm more inclined that Maruki is a avatar of Philemon rather than the Guide himself. Just food for thought. But still: let him cook!
Haven´t played royal or other 5 sequels, nor other personas, but have read the summary of third semester, here is my cup of tea, based in vanilla 5:
- Most likely you are right with the NWO theory, as planning stages of persona 5 were suppose to be international heists, I am guessing with Japanese MC in college doing his foreign semester in Europe or America and a traveling to the other side, allowing to have a 3 continents at least, with that in mind a true international villain was in that situation better, maybe some fragments of this remained in the final, and for real (Royal) versions.
-My personal theory is that the rulers never leaved Mementos, their palace took the fragments of mementos that you unlock, except Sae, yeah even Futaba, when Mona was created was obligated to release some prisoners to cover his escape (a reason of his amnesia was that he need to freed some evil prisoners to train the wild card, even if harm would come to the world, we dont know how much time it was in jail, as he himself said, never need food inside mementos), this prisoners, who had more stronger desires, not necessarily good (even Futaba desire of dying is not really a good one) created the palaces that even as a wild card you are forced to take in order. Sae is an exception as Yaldi need to catch the PT, so allowing a extra palace out of mementos is really nothing for him, as Mementos is his space, but those made by the rulers were incomplete space wasteful versions.
-Maruki can have Azazoth as a persona, as Azazoth is mentally deficient as its creations lobotomized him, is literally pure power 0 ego, but to do it, he had to become insane, as he show multiple times. Other detail, wild cards can use almost every persona, and the twins ultimate confidant allow Joker to use personas over his level, so is posible to use OP personas even by other methods. To me Maruki was becoming insane after losing his fiance, and studying the cognitive world as is almost totally illogical but kept getting evidence, the NWO did not kill him after the attempt on his fiance as insanity and stress made his investigation farthest from the "true" the NWO got thanks to Futaba's mom, but when he got Azazoth, he started altering the Mad God dream, our reality, making his investigation true, as Futaba's mom, something like the multiple endings of TES2.

Im going to sub just on the intro, and love the rest of video.
So I've only played 3 4 and 5 but this does track. It explains how everything fell together perfectly in 5 more so than just the argument that joker is a very powerful trickster. I do however think maruki is at least just a guy and if he's not it may very well be that nyarlothotep/asathoth made him up completely. I always DID think these games were creepy more than they already can be and had suspected the events of at least 3 4 and 5 were related.

Something I don't think people talk enough about is how when Maruki has Azathoth and Adam Kadmon summoned, his mask doesn't disappear. The masks ARE the Personas. Something was always off about that

A question I have is what could the Shadow Operatives be doing during this timeframe? They were officially with the SIU as of P4AU, so what did the director do to either throw them off the case or “dispose” of them? If newer Persona users were being held in Mementos would that mean that they haven’t gotten any new members besides the ones that we can see the silhouettes in one image we can find in game? There’s so much about this we might not know unless if they are included in the next game or even just a spinoff at this point.
We will never know at this point.
The original version of this theory had some crazy reaching to time travel and biblical lore.
It was all centered around The Kirijo/Nanjo Group, Sebec, and the shadow operatives VS. the New World Order.
I simplified it and cut a lot out because I felt like I only needed to basically explain what my idea was and why.
It was the right call because this video got claimed for the most dumb reason possible.
And even in this form, I got ripped to shreds 😭 but I will say that it would be dumb if they didn't use the shadow operatuves at some point.

For most of the scenes, I had to play the actual game up to that point just to get what I needed because you can't use free cam in called events.

He's not working for Philemon. He's looking for a way to free the P3MC from the Great Seal.
