The arrangement? Yeah - did it by myself. Sadly enough - this was the easiest arrangement, and yet it's the one that gets all the views. I did a 14 minute Zelda Medley arrangement, and the theme from Superman and no one seems to care... :(
Epic Piano Arrangements I don't even think there is going to be another Max Payne game. Max already has been through hell and is living happily now, so I don't think he should go on another adventure. It seems very stupid if he somehow got involved in another gang or something. And if it focuses on a different character it wouldn't be Max Payne would it?
I meant like a remake of the first one. I know it's not often that re-makes get done, but considering it's Max Payne - I would LOVE to see it done with todays graphics.
Max Payne 3 is years old now, and frankly I thought the Max Payne 3 Engine was rather awful. Sure it was optimised, but given that Max Payne 1 & 2, had the slow-motion Particle FX and the incredibly beautiful muzzle flashes in slow motion, the Max Payne 3 engine seemed to be a bit of a let down for me.
"Einstein was right. Time is relative to the observer. When you're looking down the barrel of a gun time slows down, your whole life flashes by, heartbreak and scars. Stay with it, and you can live a lifetime in that split second." Max can slow time confirmed
I seriously don't know why they haven't remastered that game already. It was genuinely beautiful, and for its day - the graphics were brilliant. I know some people frown upon remasters, but some of them have been great - and if they did this right; I think this game would appeal to a whole new generation of people.
@@EpicPianoArrangements To be honest, probably ego, more than anything. Max Payne 3 shows that Rockstar weren't *really* interested in making a Max Payne game. So they didn't. They made a pretty uninteresting Rockstar movie that occasionally lets you play. I think since Max Payne 3's reception was just sort of "meh," they've decided they won't touch the series again. All those years of development hell that MP3 went through so that they could craft this weird vision of a title that ultimately just came and went. What a waste. And now the result is that the series basically just sits in their hands and rots away pointlessly, pretty much forgotten by them.
@@innoclarke7435 Well... yeah it is hard to argue with that. I will admit, they did a better job with Max Payne 3 than I thought they would. The mechanics of the shooting seemed REALLY Excellent with Max Payne 3, so much so that I think it helped them influence their GTA V and RDR 2 games... I'm hoping a revival in the future is possible.
@@EpicPianoArrangements See, that's Max Payne 3's biggest problem. They slaved over making the gunplay very satisfying and then... promptly decided that you only get to experience really short gunfights that you're thrown into the middle of via cutscenes instead of a natural flow, then the second the few bad guys are dead, you have another cutscene. If Rockstar had actually opened up the video game for you to *play*, it could've been one of the best third person shooters ever made, but trying to actually play the game for the gameplay is hindered so constantly and consistently that I never find myself returning to it for some shooting fun. I'd rather just replay Max Payne or Max Payne 2 again and have a significantly less frustrating time. Still, I think there's... sort of potential, at least. I think if Rockstar were to take another crack at it, they could do a decent job, provided they learned some lessons from Max Payne 3 and, frankly, just rebooted the series, since it didn't really feel like there was anywhere to go after Max Payne 2 (which was intentional), and it REALLY feels like there's nowhere to go after Max Payne 3. But this is all very unlikely to happen.
@@innoclarke7435 Maybe, but at least for once they tried to make a decent storyline for a game that had basically wrapped things up at the end of Game no. 2. They played homage to some of the New York stuff, and had him visit the cemetery where he buried his family... and because of this, they probably needed to insert a lot of cutscenes. I didn't mind them believe it or not. I think as long as they use cutscenes to either explain, develop or move along the story or provide meaningful dialogue - I think it can work. I'm hoping they never try and make a Max Payne 4... I know that sounds horrid, but it wouldn't make sense. If they did a re-boot of the Max Payne Trilogy in their newest RAGE engine - I'd happily pay through the nose to see 4K textures and millions of polygon rendered bullet time.

Its been years since you posted this video but here I am. All these years later. Thank you for recording this. It means something whether I am late or early.
Thank you very much... glad my arrangement was as epic as the original. I'm in agony wondering how the remaster of the Max Payne games are going to go.
"And so it began, the chorus that would tug on not only my pain but the threads that lead me to the point of no turning back, it would play in my head constantly reminding me that I'm a heartbroken detective whose in a videogame" This is fantastic btw 10/10🎉
Honestly? A 2... it took me maybe 20 minutes to learn the notes and memorise, and recorded it in the first take. My 14 minute Zelda Medley took me a solid week of practice (and would be much closer to a 9 or almost 10) and I will admit that I did 2 recordings of the whole thing and spliced it together (I had 2 cameras recording 2 angles, changed them and did another recording with another 2 angles and edited the best bits of performance). My Guardians of the Galaxy theme was also maybe a 7 or 8... took me several days of solid practice for that once.
If someone had told me six months ago this is where my life would be headed, I'd have ordered a double of what they were drinking, drunk it, then blown my head off.
"The past is a gaping hole. You try to run from it, but the more you run, the deeper, more terrible it grows behind you, its edges yawning at your heels. Your only chance is to turn around and face it. But it's like looking down into the grave of your love, or kissing the mouth of a gun, a bullet trembling in its dark nest, ready to blow your head off. When the darkness fell, New York City became something else, any old Sinatra song notwithstanding. Bad things happened in the night, on the streets of that other city. Noir York City." Happy birthday, Max Payne.
I am sitting here desperately awaiting the Max Payne remaster. Can't believe it's been 22 years since that game came out. That was possibly the single best game I ever played. It's only just been overtaken by RDR 2; again because so much attention was given to how the music in RDR 2 affects the gameplay - much like the Max Payne theme did.
If you think this is good, you should check out my 14 minute Zelda arrangement - I actually worked hard to practice the Zelda. This one was a piece of cake compared.

@EpicPianoArrangements definitely not as bad as what happened to max losing hes wife and kids but depression and trying to feel something from vices is just a vicious cycle
I'm Japanese. Amazing! Splendid! Max Payne is favorite music by the game of the memory♪ I was impressed to be completely reappeared! Thank you so much!!
memories of gunfire , gore and bullet cams anyone ?
I still believe to this day, this was the best game of all time. The story was excellent, the graphics were fantastic for their time, and the bullet cam was AWESOME!!!
Epic Piano Arrangements what can I say...... It's a rockstar game
Erm... Max Payne 1 was a Remedy game published by 3DRealms (when it was still functioning), not Rockstar. Rockstar took over and published Max Payne 2.
For some reason I was trying to remedy games but my brain was saying Rockstar
Maybe it's cuz I've been playing Max Payne 3 a lot
No problem... I realised after I posted that's what you meant.
Well done sir! I finally found an actual human man who can play this historic piece perfectly! Max Payne 1 will always remain in my top 10!
Thank you. I aim to please. I'm surprised no one else can play it as well - it's not really that hard.
@@EpicPianoArrangements You very welcome
"Gun fire over Hoboken. It felt strange to be at the center of it again, the target that is. Like an old comedian hearing one last round of applause." I must say sir this is such a beautiful piece and you played it so well, Thank you for paying such great tribute to a wonderful franchise
If you've played Max Payne 2 as well - I did do an arrangement of 'Late Goodbye' as well. Glad you like my performance. 🙂
“I didn’t ask for this crap trouble came to me in deep dark swarms”. Amazing talent man you earned a sub.
Thank you very much - glad you like my videos. 😎
Amazing performance, this song is so dramatic and yet so beautiful at the same time, love it.
It really fitted with the noir style gameplay and the storyline. This was a fantastic theme.
Pain killers is all I need :3
Who knew that was all you need to survive a New York, revenge filled, rampage taking out mobsters, goons and mercs. :)
And a Coult Comando and Desert Eagle
Interfectum! It kills your pain!!!
@Emirkan Ceylan Don’t forget Frankie Niagara’s baseball bat!
Rip James mcCaffrey, nosso eterno Max Payne 🙏🙏
Very well done indeed. Its amazing how music can just transport us to moments in time. Its a blessing and a curse as Max would say.
Very, very true. It can take us back to our childhood in seconds...
This is the simply the best performance of this composition, you can find on the internet!
I'm hoping if you check out my other videos, you'll find them to be the best performances of said composition as well.
@@EpicPianoArrangements Ahahaha! I will check them for sure!

@Bart Iudaea when you shoot the alarm during the bank robbery, or the elevator speaker in the clowns' laundry place...
Truly awesome.
Great soundtrack to a great game, and seeing this video and hearing the theme played on the piano just blew me away. Bravo
Thank you very much... it was an intense and brilliant game.
"Your past is like a piece of broken mirror." A perfect symphony played perfectly. This gives me some heavy nostalgia.
I know - it's a bit of a pain to get the game running on newer systems, but damn I still like playing it.
Beautifully played
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it.
If you thought this was good - you should check out my 14 minute Zelda Medley, or Baba Yetu from the Civilization IV video game.
RIP James McCaffrey...
Amazing skill and video for UA-cam. Thanks for this! I know Max Payne is thinking of you! From Ireland 🇮🇪
Thank you very much... If you think this is Amazing, I do a 14 minute Zelda: Ocarina of Time Medley that might just blow your mind.
Its been years since you posted this video but here I am. All these years later. Thank you for recording this. It means something whether I am late or early.
No problem - glad people still enjoy listening to it.
Exactly
Brings back my childhood. This game was epic at so many levels. The music was Inspirational. Your piece was no less!
Thank you very much... glad my arrangement was as epic as the original. I'm in agony wondering how the remaster of the Max Payne games are going to go.
"And so it began, the chorus that would tug on not only my pain but the threads that lead me to the point of no turning back, it would play in my head constantly reminding me that I'm a heartbroken detective whose in a videogame"
This is fantastic btw 10/10🎉
Glad you like it... have you seen my Zelda & Fallout videos as well?
@@EpicPianoArrangements No not yet but I shall do post haste
you combined all the sections into one, beautiful.
That's what I do. Glad you like it.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how difficult is it to play for such an experienced player such as your self?@@EpicPianoArrangements
Honestly? A 2... it took me maybe 20 minutes to learn the notes and memorise, and recorded it in the first take.
Or try to not let that happen?
my favourite pc game have a nice theme song cover!! good job man!
Thanks for that... it does bring back many memories of bullet-time, slow motions and epic gun fights from 2001. :)
Noir York City."
Happy birthday, Max Payne.
I listen to this music during 22 years. This is beautiful melody! My favourite!
You right! But remaster must be launched with Sam Lake participation. He is real Max Payne !
wow this tone really touches my heart
"Let me take you back 3 years ago....back when the pain started"
These lines are stuck in my head❤️
One of my favourite games. You're nice musician.
Thank you very much. :)
Only some of us can relate how this thing is attached to our entire existence. Amazing!
Beautiful.. Thank you James
*There it was . . . the soundtrack to my life, and, for a few seconds . . . came harmony, finally.*
I got goosebumps just by watching this. I can't imagine how you felt while playing this. 👍👍
If you think this is good, you should check out my 14 minute Zelda arrangement - I actually worked hard to practice the Zelda. This one was a piece of cake compared.
Lovely and thanks for the sheet music
No problem - if you do record your performance, let me know. 🙂
Brings nostalgia..... Max Payne was the only game that I truly loved and felt everything it had to say.
Great job,i want this in max payne 4!!!
Sadly enough, I doubt there will be a Max Payne 4, especially with the death of James McCaffrey.
The best Max Payne theme playing I have ever heard. It's amazing! ✨
Thank you. :)

This soundtrack’s melancholic, unspoken beauty makes me want to play the Max Payne games- I’ll give it a chance soon, much obliged. And thank you for covering such a beautiful harmonic OST of a game theme. ❤️
You're welcome - I'm glad you like my arrangement. There was something deeply memorable about that first game, wasn't there?

Большое спасибо за ваш добрый комментарий.
Max Payne is coming back and I couldn't be happier!
Damn right - I can't wait either. I'm still surprised though that they aren't remastering the 3rd as well. It would be great to have the entire trilogy with the same engine and graphics.
@@EpicPianoArrangements max payne 3 is still a good game in terms of gameplay and graphics so they wont bother with that ig
I love it when talented people come across in the recommendations, and not some kind of nonsense like tik tok
I didn't realise I was still making my way into peoples recommendations... but I'm glad you found something you like. I agree with your comments about TikTok as well... can't stand it.
Excellent piano cover. Max Payne is one of those classics. Hearing this brings back great memories.
Pain to the max!
If you think this is good - have you seen my 14 minute Ocarina of Time medley? Might blow your socks off.
No other video game theme made me cry. Great art.
Max Payne series is one of the greatest game series of all time and Max Payne is one of the goats in video game history along the likes of Mario and doomguy
I'll admit, it didn't make me cry - but what about Zelda Ocarina of Time. That was one excellent video game that was very well put together and had a lot of emotional tension.
That's truly outstanding performance
If you think this is good, you should check out my Superman theme video, or my 14 minute Medley on Zelda: Ocarina of Time. 😎
This was beautiful. I hate you for making me feel this way..
It's always makes me emotional 😭
I hope the remaster does the same. There was something so EPIC about that last cutscene where you're standing on top of the Aesir building.
never gets old right boys i have played it days ago you did a unbelievable amount of work you did very good keep up the good work also am subing lol
Actually, sadly enough - this is the one I put the least amount of effort into. I spent a day arranging my 14 minute Zelda Medley, and another doing the 'One Final effort' from Halo 3. This one I knocked out in less than an hour. I'm glad you like it though.
" the setting had changed but the rest was all too familiar " max payne. I had to come back to subscribe 👏
Thanks - hope you find my other videos equally as good as this one.
I always come back to this video sometimes and i think your the only person who record themselves doing it on a real piano because i can't find other videos
Thanks for the compliment. The acoustic piano just has more soul than an electric piano - it just seems right to play it on the best instrument. 🙂 🎹
In the land of piano, epic piano arrangements is king.
Thanks. 🙂
I'm learning this by ear right now and you sir are going to be my golden standard for comparison when I finally nail this song
Thank you very much. Enjoy playing it - it's a beautifully dark but gritty theme. If you ever upload it, let me know.
@@EpicPianoArrangements it's not perfect but I give all insperational credit to you thanks dudeua-cam.com/video/8X0G09w4yTk/v-deo.html
Keep at it - you've done a LOT of hard work. It is an exceptionally hard piece, but it's so well known it's worth keeping in your repertoire forever.
@@EpicPianoArrangements oh dude I play it with my eyes closed now and way better without my cat trying to play rythme on my Darth Vader night light... Thanks brother keep making great music
played max payne first game today and this is my second complete playthrough, its raining outside my house and I can enjoy this deep game and music theme
Wow... I remember playing this back in 2001, and it released just after I had done my Year 12 mid-year exams. I can't recall how many times I did actually play through the game, but I think it's in the low double digits.
Max is indeed in pain! Powerful music.
To this day I have listened to the theme so much, I can play it in my head note for note like a radio. It was truly epic.
Greatest video game Soundtrack ever
If you think this is good, you should check out some of my other covers. I do the theme from Halo 3 as well for 2 pianos.
Incredible, well done buddy.
Thank you very much - glad you liked it. If you think this is impressive, I had a 14 minute Medley if you like Zelda - Ocarina of time that's worth checking out.
This is the song I want played at my funeral just plain beautiful music
"You had made me work undercover in some hell home sorry alex"
"Michelle and the baby comes first"
"Still on for poker Thursday night... Right"
"Like taking candy from a baby"
"Life was good sun setting sweet summers day"
"American dream come true"
"But dreams have a nasty habit of going bad when your not looking"
Awesome man unbelievable u have a good talent I pray that the next gen max payne come soon and you'll be the first to buy that
I'd so buy that in a second... I'm surprised it hasn't been done already. The game is over 15 years old.
Every so often...I must come back and hear this again.
Glad to hear that.
when I hear this song, I always imagine Max Payne looking out over the city in a cold, dangerous blizzard, with his gun in his hand and hatred in his veins.
I can't wait to get that feel again when they remaster it... and since Remedy are remastering it - hopefully they NAIL it.
@@EpicPianoArrangements I hope too, after all, the mood of suspense, drama and badass action is in the first Max Payne, I hope they manage to bring that feeling back.
That final note was badass.
Thank you... I forget exactly what type of instrument is was meant to emulate, but there's no way I could have neglected to do it.
@@EpicPianoArrangements i love you for it.
(Google Translate).

It is EPIC... however, what about the theme from Civilisation VI - Christopher Tin's 'Sogno di Volare' - that is also bloody AWESOME!!!
That... or Bear McCreary's theme from 'God of War'?
It's interesting how while reading all the comments, my mind automatically narrates it in Max Payne's voice
That B Natural that comes around after the first few notes just has so much impact to it. I already love minor keys, but this is another level of satisfying. Great work!
I know, its so dramatic - especially with the lower octave in the LH reinforcing it.
@@EpicPianoArrangements This whole piece just has this overwhelming grief. It sort of puts me in Max's shoes, makes me sort of consumed with rage and sadness and vengefulness. Like a downward spiral of madness as Max leaves no enemy without a smoldering hot bullet between their eyes, all to avenge his wife and baby girl. God I love minor keys. #bassclefbro
Спасибо Вам, за отличное исполнение:)
Рад, что вам понравилось.
This is the best game soundtrack that I’ve ever heard
Damn right they did. I wonder if they ever wrote the soundtrack to anything else?
JUST RELEASED - Simplified version of the Max Payne sheet music for those who aren't too keen on overlapped hands and octaves. Check it out on Musicnotes (link in description)
Just recently started playing the max payne trilogy (currently playing the third one). My god it was such a ride. This theme does take me back to those early years when i enjoyed a lot of games for their soundtracks
Every now and then I still play all 3 games. I'll admit, 2 never really captured my attention as much and I don't have that sense of nostalgia I did for games 1 & 3, but when it released in 2003 - My god - I played the hell out of it.
I also did a piano version of 'Late goodbye' from Max Payne 2 if you want to check it out.
