They really designed a fantastic firearm with the P90. Its extremely compact and reliable. Easy to disassemble and maintain.

Just got mine, dont care what other people say, loved it, about it's history, form fit and function, the genius engineering of the mags, intriguing ammo, pop culture popularity, and most of all Coolness. You have the best video for completeness not even described in the manual. Thanks for letting us know about the bolt lock tip and putting a velcro on the trigger pack to protect from shell extraction wear and tear. Also the thoroughness of the functions. More power to your channel

Thanks for watching and your great comments! Yes, I love this gun. Most people don't realize that it was designed for convoy/rearward mounted troops as a replacement for a 9mm handgun to defeat the body armor of the day (worn by the Russians). The '90' in PS90 was because it came out in 1990--and is still going strong! I also did a video on how I converted it to an SBR after I got my tax stamp: ua-cam.com/video/ojsWaVL1Ki4/v-deo.htmlsi=UKhzLg_4FbT1VFK4
I have this gun with 6 mags, light, suppressor, sling, and all the tools I need in a 36" long case and is definitely part of m "GO" bag if things get out of control and we have to leave our home.
Check out my other videos on the best sling, etc.:

I've fired thousands of rounds through mine without any malfunctions (and I haven't cleaned it yet either!).

I own one of these guns and can appreciate this. Guy has a lot of good points like the rollers in the mag, I bought some of these but dose it really help? probably not. It's a really nice thought out gun though. I owned two guns before this and truly believe it is an offspring of them, they were the Styer AUG and the Calico 9mm liberty that was a top feed gun made in Bakersfield California. you'll probably have to look up the calico because it never really caught on but had many interesting features.

The Magazine Rollers help process the final rounds out of the magazine for firing. If you remove the two rollers you will fit two more rounds in the magazine but it will only fire 50 and the last two will stay in the magazine. (tested this my self)

TY for the info. Just got one and this info helps alot. Doesn't the 16" barrel unscrew and just get the suppressor and stamp ?

Thanks for watching and you comments!
No, that barrel is pinned in with a braided wire plug. I tried drilling out the pin, but couldn't get all of it. It got so frustrating that I just cut the barrel and shroud at about the midpoint (the barrel is scrap after that, but why hang on to a barrel you're never going to use anyway) and then was able to unscrew everything. Use a cleaning rod down the stock barrel and then slide the new 10.4" barrel over the cleaning rod--that makes life a lot easier since there are 3 springs that need to stay in place during the barrel exchange process.
You need a 15mm wrench (if you're a bicyclist and have a 15mm cone wrench, that is ideal, otherwise you have to grind down the width of a regular open end wrench) and the threads are LEFT handed, so go to the right (clockwise) to break the old one loose, and left to tighten the new one on. Remember, it's a floating barrel, so once the new one is tightened, there should be a little fore-aft play.
You also have to get the SBR Tax Stamp for the 10.4" barrel (I get all of that stuff through Silencer Shop since they have all my info for electronic filing). It took all of a week, but now I hear that suppressors and SBR requests are coming back almost the same day.

Well done video. The velcro idea is interesting. If it falls off during operations will the rifle jam?

Thanks for watching! I'm using the 'industrial' velcro from Home Depot, so it stays in place and takes a huge effort to peel off. I'd have to say that if it did fall off, it would just fall out the bottom of ejection port, so it shouldn't cause any problems since it's well away from (and below) the action. Mine has not fallen off yet and that's when I've been shooting it on very hot days.

Should the barrel also have any rotational play? I switched to a CMMG 10” barrel and I have a little rotational play in the barrel as well, up until the flat part of the adapter tops out on the receiver.

    • @docgsreloading7985
      @docgsreloading7985  8 місяців тому

Thanks for watching! Yes, it should have some rotational play limited by the flat part of the adapter. Mine works the exact same way and it's all part of the barrel having that small movement as the front barrel spring (behind that adapter) acts during recoil. I've now shot easily 2,500 rounds through my 10.4" CMMG barrel/adapter both with and without a suppressor, and I've not had a single misfeed, failed extraction, etc. Every round so far has gone through the gun perfectly.

      1) It took 3 weeks to get my SBR Tax Stamp back from the ATF--very quick!
      2) I used the CMMG barrel and the front barrel nut that converts it to 1/2X28 threads so I can put on a suppressor:
      cmmg.com/barrel-10-4-ps90-4140-cmv-cl-1-9-5-7x28.
      3) I love it!! It is perhaps the best, most fun, most versatile gun purchase I've ever made! The PS90 was designed as a 10.4" barrel to begin with, so there's no change in accuracy or fps on the chronograph.
For your ATF form, put in that your overall length is 19" since that's what I measured when I sent mine in.
Also, you can Google "ATF Wait Times" and it'll show you the current wait times. You'll be doing the Form 1 and now they're saying it's a 68 day wait time filing electronically:
      www.atf.gov/resource-center/current-processing-times
I have an account through Silencer Shop and they do all my suppressors and my SBR forms. They do a great job and are very quick about the whole process.
It is worth the $200 to get the SBR Tax Stamp from the ATF for this gun especially!!

I see the largest problem is: it’s a cqb weapon - but - it has a massive sight over bore hold over. It’s probably the largest if any cqb weapon of its type. So, if you set the optic to aim parallel to the barrel - then - you have to remember that the bullet’s impact is about 6 inches lower than your aim. If you zero it at 25 yards - then the offset is 3 inches low at 12 yards and 6 inches high at 50 yards. What a crazy aiming solution for just dealing with a 0 to 50 yard distance. You have to mentally juggle the huge offset in your head whilst guessing the range of the target. Unfortunately, I’d think the best way to deal with this design flaw is to set the optic parallel so that in short, cqb working distances it always shoots low by 6 inches.

I feel the safety is biased to left-hand shooters.
When I want to turn off the safety, I have to pull the safety. Pushing the safety is a more positive engagement.
Lefties are able to push the safety off and pull the safety on.
    Righties have the opposite actions.
This is my main gripe about this gun.
    ETA:
Are the hammer and sear also plastic? If so, there’s another gripe.

    • @docgsreloading7985

Yes, I agree, but it's for sure the only rifle (let alone firearm) I can think of that is more set up as ambidextrous than any other (without having to be modified in the field) with the only exception being the position of the safety.
Also yes, the only metal parts in the hammer group are the springs and pins. The hammer and sear are both plastic, but have a proven durability.
So I really don't care about that, especially since this was originally designed as full auto and I've never even seen or could find a report that any part of the hammer-group has ever failed. FNH does it right, they don't make inexpensive and unreliable guns for sure.
