it's an artistic technique in song writing called word painting! that detail of the word "fall/falling" actually *falling* in pitch helps us feel and understand the music that little bit more :)

This is absolutely amazing. Possibly my favorite Dream centered vid since This Kingdom is Mine and Dreamaturgy. I’d like to go over some of my favorite lines and what I think of them. (This is going to be an essay lol. The combination of many lines that are my favorites, and me being tired enough that I am 100% going to ramble) “Gaining respect means giving up a pst life” In the beginning of the server, Dream wasn’t in charge, he had no real official position. He wasn’t a ruler by any means. He was more akin to a part time sheriff, just keeping the peace when necessary and talking down or dealing with trouble makers. But again he didn’t have any official authority, people listed when the pseudo sheriff spoke because they were his friends and respected him, that changed when Tommy and co. joined. His main goal or one of them after Lburgs independence as cemented was to go back to the peaceful times of the beginning. He kept peace through respect before, more respected MUST be gained if he wants things to go back. But people don’t respect him the same way as before, if he wants more respect he needs to give up who and what he was to before (in Some’s eyes, giving up everything that made people respect him in the first place) “When the world began to change I followed” The SMP and everything in it changes rapidly society itself, motives, tensions, ideologies. Even the very image and perception of Dream by others changed (most of that I would argue is the result of others) and to stay on top, Dream himself had to follow along and change; his tactics, meathods, morals, limits, the very man he was, all to keep the goal alive. “And now I fall” And with these changes he fell, fell from grace. Not this wasn’t a rapid fall, it was gradual and took time, but the rate increased. At one time I would argue Dream was the Hero of the server but to fight his angles cause he picked up the desmons weapons. With step after small step past the line, he slipped and fell, into oblivion. An oblivion for the man he was. No one remembers the hero and friend that man fell into the void people only remover the antagonist and deserving prisoner. “What was once silver lining of us has turned to rust” Again Dream, his cause, and his friends WERE the heros fighting for the right cause at least at one point in my opinion. But all of it rusted; the cause, and each and every one of the former knights of that round table have changed, not necessarily for the better. “Would WE have fallen” Talks about how it isn’t just Dream that was lost to the black. The men Dream, Sapnap, George, Bad, Awesome, all of them, were have fallen into oblivion, disappeared from the world and the memories of the past. Each of them different, broken, twisted, evolved in a way that puts them farther from the grace of their past. The kindness, the loyalty, the friendship gone from all of them. While the song is about Dreams monumental fall, ALL of them have fallen as well. “How fragile of me to break so easily” Shows how Dream sees himself. He is the strong one, if he tries hard enough, if he plans long enough, if he endures enough, if he’s charismatic enough, if he can move the world HE can fix it, fix everything. He hold himself to that standard, if he is any less than that he has failed- his ONLY goal since trouble started would not only be for naught but would be forever unstable. He HAS to be that strong, smart, charismatic, cunning. He HAS to hold himself to the standards of a god. His standards for himself are so high that he sees himself as week for breaking down after months in solitary confinement, daily torture, little to no hope. “Fear took the lead” It’s what made him go so far. Fear. Fear the nice peaceful life they all were living was gone, fear of perpetual violence, fear of chaos, fear of bitterness and hatred, fear of broken friendships, fear of losing enough control to help. Well I hope that made sense and wasn’t too crazy. It is kinda late and I’m tired lol.
Love this comment. There are people who are entirely justifying his actions, which isn’t right, but portraying him as a full on villain who only goal is to gain power and cause chaos isn’t right either. You can’t dodge the blame, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his own reason behind his actions, and that is what makes me adore the character so much.
This is extremely well sung! Absolutely ADORED the slide during "fall", and the vocal control to get that "oblivion" to sound good? absolutely insane, you're one of the most skilled music channels i've come across recently. VERY well done :)
This sounds like a song I would find in the credits of a movie in all honesty, and with this type of song, if it was in the credits I would always stay behind and just listen
Songs that genuinely surprised me to find was only two years old for the way it made me feel nostalgia. Songs that randomly pop into your head at work and make you imagine your unrelated ocs in. Songs that give you chills when you rediscover them even though you played it on repeat until you got bored of it when you first heard it. Songs that make you really appreciate a fandom you were part of even though it's been a few years and the glow of the community is gone. You didn't make a ton of songs at least compared to other dsmp fan artists but damn do you deliver every single time.

Your vocals are as powerful as always, and I love the story behind this song. Dream wallowing in his own regrets realizing that he is alone, and the harsh truth that he alone caused his fall. And his desperate wish to take it all back what he lost because he realized the error of his ways.

Honestly I wonder if his character even realizes the damage he causes and is really that oblivious. Maybe he’ll somehow be brought back to reality and regret his decisions. I really love the song. It can be interpreted in so many ways and not just as a song for lore in the Dsmp. I really hope they get more credit for their work.
@ArtsySinger @Jade Savvy I definitely think he knows what he’s done, but I don’t know if he knows entirely how much he’s changed. For example, I think he thinks that everything he’s done has been the right thing to do in his eyes, but I don’t think he sees- or can see anymore- what it has done to his friends and the people around him. I think he just hasn’t seen yet the fact that he’s changed, and that he isn’t the same Dream as the Dream who was friends with Sapnap and George and ran the SMP- I don’t think he knows that he’s gone insane. I don’t know, it might just be me.
@@moopthenerd2443 This is all just me theorizing. Perhaps he does know his wrong doings but not the significant impact. Especially since he’s in jail and can’t see the aftermath of his work. Not to mention he has a god complex and thinks he’s the greatest person ever since he has the power to bring people back to life and no one else can. The revival book could’ve also triggered many horrible decisions on his part due to greed and wanting it for himself. Or his greed and him wanting people to be dependent on him. Another thought I have is perhaps he’s so great at manipulating and lying that he convinced himself that he’s not a bad guy. The bad guy got caught up in his own lies and manipulation, now he’s receiving the same punishment.
@@jadesavvy we know that he’s aware his done bad things but he didn’t think he’s the villain. His last conversation with Sam after techno’s escape clears a bit up about what Dream thinks of his own actions. He said good people do bad things To which Sam responded by saying he wasn’t a good person and had he been a good person he wouldn’t have done the things he did And Dream responded saying he didn’t think he was bad either He’s very aware he’s done bad things but he still doesn’t see himself as the bad guy which is kinda interesting. It makes me wonder how aware he is of the damage done by his actions. I mean he obviously thinks his reasons are valid while still accepting that he’s done bad things. So how much does he see of his own actions?

This song really reminds me of the people like.. fallen into depression, feeling lonely and gone into the wrong paths like doing drugs and anything else. I adore this song. It found a way into my heart. I've been in a shitty mindset for couple of months now and this song portrays everything that came along the way. The feeling of drowning and spiraling down to the bottom, the fear of everything crushing you, the helplessness of having nobody to talk to, the nostalgia of non-teenage years where everyone was fine and played tag on the schools playground- "would the air fail to catch me as I failed to catch you?" This is one of those hard-hitting lines. I've been struggling with selfharm and anorexia, but I haven't told anyone. Then my friend came and told me about their suicidal thoughts, which pushed me over the edge. "Floods of memories drown me in the abyss Ceiling fades, empty space, hanging barely from a cliff that's thousands of feet tall" I'm so close to breaking down- so close to falling down- I'm holding their hand, clutching it with every bit of my drained power. I'm the only one that can save them. I just need to not let go. "How fragile of me to break so easily" I thought I could be strong. To bear anything. I thought that I would never let go. That I would hold tight and pull us up. I thought I could help them. But how could I help them, if I'm not able to even help myself? "Fear took the lead, now" This is the daily dread of thinking about my friend. What if they had a argument with their family? What if they decided that it was time to- time to- "I'm still falling" I'm still falling. Deeper and deeper into this mess. I needed this. Sorry about- all of it. I just needed to write it out.

I've been obsessed with this song for the past few weeks and I just love how somber and emotional it sounds. Most DSMP!Dream songs are more eerie but I love how different this one is. It just hits so hard and I love it to bits!
I enjoy the song, and it's head canon, I wish dream actually regretted what he's done or at least broke from the realization he was alone, mainly because it would be interesting to see the tables turn to techno being the bad guy, not the anti-hero, however crazy god complex dream is just as good.

“When the world began to change I followed”
The SMP and everything in it changes rapidly society itself, motives, tensions, ideologies. Even the very image and perception of Dream by others changed (most of that I would argue is the result of others) and to stay on top, Dream himself had to follow along and change; his tactics, meathods, morals, limits, the very man he was, all to keep the goal alive.
“And now I fall”
And with these changes he fell, fell from grace. Not this wasn’t a rapid fall, it was gradual and took time, but the rate increased. At one time I would argue Dream was the Hero of the server but to fight his angles cause he picked up the desmons weapons. With step after small step past the line, he slipped and fell, into oblivion. An oblivion for the man he was. No one remembers the hero and friend that man fell into the void people only remover the antagonist and deserving prisoner.
“What was once silver lining of us has turned to rust”
Again Dream, his cause, and his friends WERE the heros fighting for the right cause at least at one point in my opinion. But all of it rusted; the cause, and each and every one of the former knights of that round table have changed, not necessarily for the better.
“Would WE have fallen”
Talks about how it isn’t just Dream that was lost to the black. The men Dream, Sapnap, George, Bad, Awesome, all of them, were have fallen into oblivion, disappeared from the world and the memories of the past. Each of them different, broken, twisted, evolved in a way that puts them farther from the grace of their past. The kindness, the loyalty, the friendship gone from all of them. While the song is about Dreams monumental fall, ALL of them have fallen as well.
“How fragile of me to break so easily”
Shows how Dream sees himself. He is the strong one, if he tries hard enough, if he plans long enough, if he endures enough, if he’s charismatic enough, if he can move the world HE can fix it, fix everything. He hold himself to that standard, if he is any less than that he has failed- his ONLY goal since trouble started would not only be for naught but would be forever unstable. He HAS to be that strong, smart, charismatic, cunning. He HAS to hold himself to the standards of a god. His standards for himself are so high that he sees himself as week for breaking down after months in solitary confinement, daily torture, little to no hope.
“Fear took the lead”
It’s what made him go so far. Fear. Fear the nice peaceful life they all were living was gone, fear of perpetual violence, fear of chaos, fear of bitterness and hatred, fear of broken friendships, fear of losing enough control to help.
Well I hope that made sense and wasn’t too crazy. It is kinda late and I’m tired lol.

Love this comment. There are people who are entirely justifying his actions, which isn’t right, but portraying him as a full on villain who only goal is to gain power and cause chaos isn’t right either. You can’t dodge the blame, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his own reason behind his actions, and that is what makes me adore the character so much.

Your vocals are as powerful as always, and I love the story behind this song. Dream wallowing in his own regrets realizing that he is alone, and the harsh truth that he alone caused his fall. And his desperate wish to take it all back what he lost because he realized the error of his ways.

You can tell that you put so much time and effort into this song and it really paid off. You are an amazing artist and I hope you keep doing what you’re doing. Honestly I wonder if his character even realizes the damage he causes and is really that oblivious. Maybe he’ll somehow be brought back to reality and regret his decisions. I really love the song. It can be interpreted in so many ways and not just as a song for lore in the Dsmp. I really hope they get more credit for their work.
@ArtsySinger @Jade Savvy I definitely think he knows what he’s done, but I don’t know if he knows entirely how much he’s changed. For example, I think he thinks that everything he’s done has been the right thing to do in his eyes, but I don’t think he sees- or can see anymore- what it has done to his friends and the people around him. I think he just hasn’t seen yet the fact that he’s changed, and that he isn’t the same Dream as the Dream who was friends with Sapnap and George and ran the SMP- I don’t think he knows that he’s gone insane. I don’t know, it might just be me.
@@moopthenerd2443 This is all just me theorizing. Perhaps he does know his wrong doings but not the significant impact. Especially since he’s in jail and can’t see the aftermath of his work. Not to mention he has a god complex and thinks he’s the greatest person ever since he has the power to bring people back to life and no one else can. The revival book could’ve also triggered many horrible decisions on his part due to greed and wanting it for himself. Or his greed and him wanting people to be dependent on him. Another thought I have is perhaps he’s so great at manipulating and lying that he convinced himself that he’s not a bad guy. The bad guy got caught up in his own lies and manipulation, now he’s receiving the same punishment.
@@jadesavvy we know that he’s aware his done bad things but he didn’t think he’s the villain. His last conversation with Sam after techno’s escape clears a bit up about what Dream thinks of his own actions.

To which Sam responded by saying he wasn’t a good person and had he been a good person he wouldn’t have done the things he did
And Dream responded saying he didn’t think he was bad either
He’s very aware he’s done bad things but he still doesn’t see himself as the bad guy which is kinda interesting.
It makes me wonder how aware he is of the damage done by his actions. I mean he obviously thinks his reasons are valid while still accepting that he’s done bad things. So how much does he see of his own actions?

This song really reminds me of the people like.. fallen into depression, feeling lonely and gone into the wrong paths like doing drugs and anything else. But at the end, it really had that vibe to make people realise their own mistakes and need to change something that needs to be change. In the positive way.

I feel like- the fact that so many people can genuinely connect? And almost relate to the lyrics of what is technically a fan song really says a lot.
