I was a kid when this episode aired. I was being abused at home at the time and this was a major factor in my decision to never stop talking about it. I can't tell you how many people have approached me online and in real life to thank me for being open and vulnerable because my story gave them the courage to tell theirs, or even just made them feel validated in being traumatized by what happened to them. it's ALWAYS worth it to say something, especially when you don't know who might hear it that desperately needs to
Thank you for sharing your story with others

Think this was before Amanda had her breakthrough role as Karen in Mean Girls. WOW, must say she really proved herself to be a capable actress with range here!!!
EDIT: On another note gotta admire how even though they don't share blood, how much a stepfather cares for their child and how that child calls them a familial title due to the strength of that bond.
Nope, Mean Girls was released in April 2004 and this episode aired in December 2004.
I get were the confusion comes Amanda played Karen Smith part of popular girls in school, Beeding to be kicked the queen bee as her character was a wannabe, as Karen she need to wear more make up amd jewellery and but this character in law and order is a teenage girl who was raped

Sexual assault by someone in the military, or in the military is a huge crisis, I believe it’s a big reason many people with including young girls are choosing not to join. As long as the military establishment, refuses to deal with that many will not join the military.
So true. Women aren’t joining bc it’s basically a guaranteed assault waiting to happen. And we know it won’t be taken seriously, so many women in the army talk about not being believed. Until men in the army can stop assaulting their female army mates, women won’t join
Good. No one should join the military.
@@milamila1123 I agree, I just think that another reason besides the killing is the SA

I believe that it would have been fair if she won the case so the culprit would go to jail, while she'd do community service because she initially accused other men out of fear about the wellbeing of her family. I understand she was manipulated and she was worried about her mother and father but her lie could have ended others people life. It's not a punishment, it's more like acknowledging the gravity/severity of what she has done by undergoing a sort of redemption.

Detective Benson lied about the Social Service Law, it’s your right to not talk to the police. Even if you’re innocent or a victim you don’t have to talk to them or cooperate with them. Also unless they have a warrant they can’t force you to go to the hospital.
That's Detective Stabler. And the law isn't so clear cut for minors who are found by the police injured after being reported missing. You can't assume that a kid is competent to refuse care after that. And you can't assume that a parent or stepparent is acting in their best interest in refusing care. That would at bare minimum be a CPS report.
Cops have the right to lie to you unfortunately. They can lie about pretty much anything, no matter how big or how small.

U guys seem to misunderstand a lot of things here. It’s not ok she lied the captain literally has her arrested for her public recant. It was at least interference what she did. However she isn’t lying because they have physical evidence that she was indeed attacked they cannot ignore the fact there is a violent criminal on the loose. And they were right for pursuing it because another victim came forward. Angers me tho the girl lied but I disagree liars should face jail time. Maybe community service. So it doesn’t deter other women.
Yes but personally I feel like she should still be punished…her lies led an innocent black man to his death…ik she’s a victim but not by him…I feel like she’s responsible for his death and should be punished…
@@armanishelton to punish her would be to silence other victims. It’s sad but this is the reality we live in.
@@Damnsaburna To have perpetrator think that just having their victim recant by means of coercion or at Amanda Seyfried did on the News could do significant harm to every victim who ever does come forward as I personally have seen people who have had their victim's write notes in their own handwriting and give them to the perpetrators for insurance (or the perp believed this) stating they lied to PD/CPS/Investigators or recant what they have said in some capacity. Many criminals believe that this is all it takes to get off the hook for what they have done and her going on the news and not being punished and having victims believe they will be pressed by the police and criminals believe they only need the victim to publicly recant to get off the hook is why she was held accountable by Craiggen.
It's about the other victims, but not in the way you might think. . .you have no idea what these guys (or gals) with do to get away with things like make the victims say on a recording, write a note, send an email, get their passwords so they can email/msg as the person, etc. You and I see it as coercion and the criminal doing things to cover their tracks bc they are guilty and an admission of guilt, but the public and the people who do this are not always of the same mindset.

The 3rd 'you have a face of a cartoon lamb'❤
Yes yes you can tell the truth
I really don't like how the squad almost always lets false accusers get off scott free because they don't want to alienate real victims. Look, it's important for real victims to come forward and get as many rapists off the street as possible. But false allegations can be devastating on someone's life. Look at that notorious case of the false accuser in the UK, a man killed himself because of her fake allegations. There has to be some kind of accountability.
Not to mention that false accusers are the number-one reason actual rapists get away with their heinous crimes so easily.
- commented without watching the full video
@@dylancobalt7807What are you talking about? The girl in the video is a victim but she is also a false accuser. She intentionally pointed out 2 men that did nothing wrong and said they raped her. Potentially ruining their lives. It's not surprising the case was lost. She has zero credibility.
@loveGG3 as a genuine repeat survivor can I ask when you were raped were you thinking clearly afterwards?
@@dylancobalt7807So you're saying that after such an experience, it's reasonable to suggest that the victim is *so* out of it that they could willfully accuse two people, hours later, who absolutely had nothing to do with it?
And that's reasonable to you?
In real life bad things happen to good people & in real life good people sometimes do bad things there's plenty of examples of real life people being actual victims of crimes & lying about it usually out of fear or the other side of that lying about being a victim & making things including fake crimes up for a variety of reasons.
theyll never come near you again...... hahahahahha smh worst police lies
Yeah, that one is kind of wince-worthy. As if police departments have the power to actually watch over victims or keep dangerous people away from them. If they're in jail, maybe. But not in jail? A restraining order is just a piece of paper, and by the time you realize someone is disregarding it, you might already be dead.
I remember taking a criminology class once and it was a wakeup call for our whole class, to reflect on the reality of resources and the implication for protection. Just how many cases there are where you realize the obvious thing a victim NEEDS is basically a bodyguard, someone sitting outside their house 24/7, but there's zero chance that resource will be allocated. So everyone just knows there are constantly risks to the vulnerable going on, and has to hope that the malicious won't do what no one (in practice) is stopping them from doing.

Young Amanda Seyfried. Wow.
Wow that’s crazy Amanda seyfried as a teenager
Why wasn't Mr. Tucker convicted?!
Because she literally kept lying, which destroyed her creditability
Let’s say it later came out that she was lying again and the truth was that she was on a two-day meth binge, sold her self out, and beaten by a john. Then she just kept inventing stories to keep her parents from knowing, same as with going to that party. As a juror would that possibility completely shock you given her already changing her story three times and falsely accusing two other men? If not, then her lack of credibility gives reasonable doubt.
